I just got this watch, and I don’t know if they have made improvements recently or what, but the bezel action on mine is awesome. Not too stiff, zero play. PERFECT alignment. It actually feels almost identical to the Combat Sub bezel. This thing is awesome. Feels like a much more expensive watch. It hasn’t been mentioned but the almost perfectly flat case back, which is unique, makes it really hug the wrist. I love this thing...
I find it interesting that moderately priced SWATCH brands like Hamilton, Certina etc. offer very good value with excellent ETA movements. Then you have expensive brands like IWC, Ulysse Nardin and Hublot using less desirable Selitta movements. Here's something for you to do Bruce. Compare Sellita and ETA movements at a watchmakers with macro shots. My watchmaker does not like Selitta, he claims the plates on Selitta are too thin for riveted parts to hold well in place.
I’ve got one of these! Love the unique looks of it. People complain about the 100M WR. I’ve went swimming multiple times, jumping in pools, hot tub’s, absolutely no issues. The 40mm was the major buying factor for me, as well as the 80hr pwr reserve. I do agree, bezel action is rather stiff.
My bezel was nearly impossible to move when I first purchased the watch but has really loosened up after about a year of wear. Curious how yours feels after four more months.
Scott Aldworth hey sorry, i must have missed this. The action is amazing on mine now. Definitely loosened up slightly to a perfect feel now. Zero play. Was quite tight in the beginning
I have one - mine runs +2 seconds a day. Very solid piece. Obviously it's more a skin diver than anything else, but it works great as an all round generic sports watch.
Thanks for the review! I own this watch and can attest it is excellent value for money. Feels amazing on the wrist. FWIW, I do believe it is 40mm, not 41mm. That is how Hamilton lists it anyway.
Much improved over the previous khaki auto scuba in the aesthetics department. But calling it Scuba and it's not ISO rated is a bit of a joke. The previous model was really hard to read in the sun due to the crazy amount of crystal glare and equally as hard to read in the dark because of the pathetic amount (or lack there of) of lume. Had the previous iteration, sold it and do not miss it one bit. Definitely more of a dress diver than anything.
I’m well behind the curve on this watch, but having just bought one, frankly it is extremely nice. If this is what Hamilton turn in for the money, colour me interested. Likely to be one of the few that spend more time worn than in the watch box.
Yeah, same with me! Just got one despite a lot of negative comments about the bezel and the lack of ISO. I also did prefer this 40mm model than the newer one with 43mm and round markers.
I recently saw this watch at my local jewelry store and I instantly fell in love with it. The way it captures the light, and the feeling on the wrist when I tried it on was superb! I was incredibly surprised to find all the negative comments/reviews on it. I’m glad to see there are some people out there that agree with me!
@@ryanb8719 It's an absolute peach. I wear mine in preference to a Tudor most days. The hate stems for the fact it only has 100m of water resistance which is a bit 'dress diver'. But you know what? I *don't* have 100m of water resistance, so I don't care. There is a little bezel play which isn't brilliant. But it's still my favourite watch.
So it's a field watch with higher water resistance in a 60 Minute timing bezel I don't know why they don't just put the date at 6 anyway pretty cool watch... great review Bruce
Thanks for the review! This watch is a bit confusing. It’s not really a field watch and it’s not really a dive watch. Really Hamilton should have made this watch a true dive watch with 200m water resistance and ISO compliant and then you would have a winner.
@@fawkesandhound you keep all markers even and balanced as well as not touching the small 24 hour indexing. It could be better if it was blacked out to match the dial
I had a look at this watch a few weeks ago. The bezel and bezel action is awful and the date position is equally bad. I would think twice before buying this one. The Tissot sea star and Certina PH 200 are a better choice with the same movement more or less. If you can stretch to a Christopher Ward trident 3 you will be getting something untouchable for the money 💰if you’re a Hamilton fan check out the 40mm Khaki field in green or blue with the H10 movement 👌🏼
The loud bezel is awful for the meeting at work but the loud bezel for engaging in physical activities such as swimming / hiking. / or biking its fine.
Bruce, can you make separate playlists for your videos ? So it’s easier to find the specific watch brand videos. Like a playlist for Sekiro watches, and another for Hamilton, etc. :)
Looking pretty good but how does it compared to a more expensive Oris Diver 65? I had few seikos from 7S26, 4R35 and 6R15 movement and none of them are running accurate. It's so annoying to look at the watch and the cellphone just to make sure my watch are on spot. I love wearing my rolex for accuracy but I need more as accurate daily wear.
Good question. Oris has the nicer bezel action but not by much. I like Oris crystal and bracelet more. The hamilton has a nicer weight, finishing, lume, and more accurate movement. I like the design of the Oris more but no doubt the Hamilton is impressive considering how much less it costs
@@BruceWilliams I heard the H-10 (ETA 2824 modded by hamilton) is dead accurate out of the box. How was your experience with it? For [almost] the same amount of money of Oris, I'm also exposed to Hamilton Intramatic Chrono Panda Dial. It's a different watch but this is what people call "so many watch I want, so little money" problem. LoL... What would you choose if you can only choose one between: Hamilton Scuba Auto, Hamilton Intramatic Panda, and Oris Diver 65? I love your channel btw, your review is honest and informative on how it feels, rather than just a paper spec. Keep it up
Thanks Ivan. Between the 3 I would go with the Oris. It is the inferior watch in many ways, and the base selitta movement is a joke at the price. But it has the x factor that makes it really attractive. Lots of color, size, and strap options too
Ivan Jonathan, my Khaki Navy H10 is +/- 1 second per day. I’d say it is VERY accurate for a daily wearer! In fact, it is the most accurate of all of my 22 automatics.
I see the weight for this is listed at almost 200 grams, does anyone know if that is correct? it seems like 200 grams would be to heavy for a watch this size? Thanks
Their is a reason Hamilton is well known for their field and dress watches. Certina would be a better choice for a diver in this segment. Thanks for sharing your review. 👍🏼
Beautiful but its a shame Hamilton didn't make it a certified diver!! Its like they went 95% of the way then just left it on the most crucial part!! It just doesn't make sense!???
I’ve got the orange bezel version on the nato it’s ok nothing special but accuracy is not that great in my opinion not as good as the Hamilton pilot I own but biggest thing is the lug to lug it’s just bit to big so will flip it at some point next year
100m water resistance, no luminous pip at 12 clearly makes this a non-diver. Hamilton was lazy in this design. They made it look like a diver and called it Scuba just so they could bank on the diver watch craze. Too bad, it is a nice looking watch that I would never buy.
Well, you know, most people who buy watches don't use them for anything other than the complications, and sometimes not even that. If a functional, highly water resistant dive watch is what you're after, there are many, better, options than a luxury piece.
30secs into the review and the first thing that I would tell Hamilton is remove the inner 24hr counter and 4:30 date aperture. If this was no-date, or even date at 3 or 6, with no 24hr markers, this watch would be a hell of a lot cleaner.
What a shame, just over 50mm L2L on a 41mm diameter watch?? Way too big, not to mention Hamilton’s website states 40mm diameter, which makes the 50mm L2L even worse. This was on my list, now I’m removing. SMH
60 clicks bezel. That date position is not ideal either. Prefer a no date or a date with cyclops. Black on black is not my choice either. Just too plain looking. Didn't mention if it's 200m Divers watch, which I think maybe it is. And the price is not attractive at such a plain dive watch. Good video by the way. 👍
I hate to be a tire kicker here, but I feel like this Hamilton is showing symptoms of “Swatchitis”. Swatchitis being a watch made by Swatch to intentionally not be as good as it could be, in order to not eat into more expensive models. Yeah, Seiko kneecaps their models, but to me, they feel more unique, and less General Motors-generic.
Bruce Williams Designed to a price point, I guess. It would be fine if Swatch products were more unique, but they are just a little too vanilla for my taste.
Aluminum. I am already scouring the internet to find a ceramic replacement. Maybe the chinese will start this soon as this watch is adopted by more and more people.
I love non divers bitch about it's lack of a pip, not being ISO certified, and 10 bar water resistance. I'll write this slow because I know those people can't read fast....real divers don't wear mechanical watches in the deep. Whether it's a Invicta Pro Diver or a Rolex Submariner, these are worn as JEWELRY first, a timepiece second. BTW, I own the green version of this watch, it's a stunning daily wear watch made by a historied watch company.
@Félix Adán Pasos then it's a trash. Seiko have scuba watches that have 200-600m water resistance. Idiots that made this scuba watches should rename it to diving watch.
They say it is 40mm. I am looking at this one and Orient Kamasu. I like the size of the case and bracelet width and quality of the Hamilton, but I really like the Orient brand and their value for money. Hamilton is 2.5 times more expensive so Orient could get Strap Code bracelet and still be more affordable. Could you share your opinion about this comparison, although I understand Hamilton is by default in a different category?
Get an Orient instead. Better looking, 200m, 120 click bezel. The bezel on this is garbage. If they hadn't changed the beat rate on their movements this would be good value, but with a beat rate of 21,600 you're better off with a couple of Orients.
Why, why do you make a big ass clasp and only drill two holes for micro adjustment on it??? It doesn't make any sense! And that bezel action and resistance is unacceptable sorry.
Not fish, not meat. This watch does'nt know what to be. Diver? Not, just 100 m water resistant, no iso-certification. Field watch - with a rotating bezel?
