A penalty shootout finally decided this play-off final with Airdrie being promoted for the first time in 10 years and breaking their play-off bad luck. Mental scenes at the end of the game.
I've been a Manchester City Season Ticket Holder for more than 40 Years, but Airdrie have always been my Scottish team, ever since suffering a bad accident on the same night as the 2-2 draw at Maine Road in September 71. Came out of a coma with my dad telling me that City had just dawn with Airdrie in the Texaco Cup (much to Mum's disgust). Hoping to finally see an Airdrie home match next season.
That’s a hell of a story Neil, hopefully no long lasting injury from 40 years ago. I am hoping to go to an Airdrie home game when the season starts, the fans were great on the day, deserve their promotion 👍🏻 Man City a bit different now to the one I remember in the 99 playoff final against the super Gills ⚽️ thanks for your comments 👍🏻
As I am Dunfermline fan am happy Airdrie came up with us ..they’re been 2nd best teams in league one… Falkirk survived their 6th season in seaside league 😂 thanks you for keeping Falkirk down
Gutted Accies fan here. Excellent vlog. Will never like Airdrie but fair play to them, brought a huge support after ten years away from second tier. How Tiehi missed that chance right after his goal I'll never know. Last one was an underhit pass so I'll let him off that one. It's Academical by the way, no "s" at the end.
Thanks Gary, I love and have always loved Scottish football at all levels, I am an anorak and I check the results and tables down to the highland and lowland leagues. I have done a few other games in Scotland and will be visiting every ground in the league including The Spartans. Apart from the dominant 2 winning the league I think the Scottish football product is a good one and I will defend that against any fellow negative Englishman 👍🏻🏴🏴
Thanks David, it was a great afternoon and I felt privileged to have witnessed it live, Airdrie fans are great fans, I will come and watch you at home in the new Championship season 👍🏻
Thanks Jeremie, i think supporters of large clubs just don’t understand the passion of smaller clubs supporters because there are less of them. But their love of their clubs is just as intense 👍🏻
@@grantelliot9803 thanks Grant, we can get you on the video, if you follow me on twitter you can get a heads up on where I am off to a few days prior to the games 👍🏻
@Matt the Ground Hopper I was one of the noisey group in the other corner of the away stand and ran about the park like a lunatic as well♦️💪it was a long 10 years but we done it in the end .
@@Nuglung77 thanks Jamie, good thing about football is you can detach yourself from reality for a while and run around like a lunatic before getting back to normal life again 👍🏻
Matt, Airdrie have drawn Hearts at home on the Scottish cup. We have history against Hearts so it's a tasty tie and had been selected for broadcast on the BBC 👍 We'll worth your while making an appearance 😀
Thanks Ian, i won’t be able to make that game but I would have loved to have gone. I am due a Scotland trip soon and an Airdrie home game is top of my list 👍🏻⚪️🔴
Brilliant video, well done mate. Don’t know if I would have enjoyed it at much if Airdrie didn’t go up but really enjoyed this perspective of it. Subscribed 👍🏼 Mon the diamonds ♦️
Useless fact #1 Both Airdrie & Hamilton have iconic red & white shirts, they're also big rivals, as are St.Helens RLFC & Wigan Warriors - they also wear the same shirts as Airdrie & Hamilton 😮
@Matt the Ground Hopper Hvala ! You are right, should be "fun fact #1 :) Scottish football is so much more than Celtic Rangers, I'm a Hajduk fan but working at Brighton so definitely watch a Scottish match next season. Great vlog 👍
Hey matt brilliant blog scunthorpe used to have that but not recently Still its great to see scottish games my dad was from dunfermline so i always see how there getting on... Cheers matt from rob in scunny......
@@stevendl7879 interesting Steven, well if Ayr don’t win 4-0 against Partick there will be 4 of the fixtures next season, may have to definitely go to one 👍🏻
Looked like an exciting game, Matt. You sure do get about. It`s a horrible experience to lose on pens. I`ve only experienced it in cups, but to get relegated after one must feel dreadful.
Thanks George, I have experienced it as a Gills fan in the playoff final in 1999 against Man City. Although we didn’t get relegated it was a very tough pill to swallow for a whole season. Up and down the UK ground hopping, i love it 👍🏻
Great video. Quite bizarrely, I’ve only been to 1 Scottish game which was Hamilton v Airdrie 6 years ago which also went to pens. Think Hamilton won that day in the Scottish league cup.
hi Matt another great video as always i have been watching for a while but i always kept forgetting to subscribe haha but its been done now and was wondering if you fancied some company for games next season as i really fancy doing this cutting a long story short my wife died on Christmas Day and i think this would do me a world of good so if your keen then so am i mate
Thanks for your comments Scottish Soldier, sorry to hear about your loss, life events like that make you re-assess life. Are you on twitter? If so you can follow me on there and privately message me. More than happy to have some company at a game 👍🏻
