Whatever some posters have said, this was a remarkable occasion for both teams. The emotion and joy in the commentators voice should strike a chord with any genuine football fan.All the best from a Fulham supporter.
The mark of respect and sportsmanship with this one was incredible even though us terriers and the tykes are Yorkshire rivals. It was a class moment for both clubs at the end of that season. To see both sets of fans celebrating at our south stand was the best moment I've ever seen. That is what football is about! Football is not about violence, hooliganism or fighting.
It's the first time I m watching this Its great to see the Barnsley fans celebrating just as it would be anywhere else in England We are in Swindon which is a passionate town too when it comes to football we have seen scenes like this ourselves after beating Arsenal at Wembley in 1969
+nick whufc Same, was there that day and it was fantastic. Would have been interesting to see what would have happened if Barnsley were still 2-1 and we only needed a point still...
If one can understand the spirit of the league with these two teams wary of their future, renders this a beautiful ultimate climax to a game, regarding their being aware of another game simultaneously with the significance of being safe in the standings (table). All eyes were affixed to both games along with a very unusual ending akin to U. S. football where they "take a knee" in order to quell mistakes to keep the score as it is. It is refreshing to see both sides: players and fans in an agreement being happy about the outcome, praying together that the results of the other game remain auspicious.
This was amazing! Felt just as good as getting promoted at the end of the 2011/2012 season and it was lovely to celebrate with Barnsley, it was a very special day :) UTT
Barnsley in the last decade and a half have some of the most enviable moments in football v Liverpool/ v Chelsea /semi finals fa cup league one play off winners/championship play offs and a production line of world class players just ask John stone and Mason Holgate Barnsley academy protégés
Philip Taylor look up Tommy Taylor. That is a proper world class player from Barnsley. Holgate is shite (but maybe that is me being a salty Liverpool fan because of the Firmino thing). I am a Barnsley and Liverpool fan
Am a Palace fan & funnily enough on the day I felt sorry for the Posh fans the team played their hearts out and at the time I thought our play off dreams had gone but after listening to Talk sport and the Chief Muppet of the station Adrian Durham giving it his verbal diarrhea and anti Palace views!! Now am chuffed we sent them down! Good fans tho but he makes my blood boil!!
As a son of a Barnsley lass I like to see them do well and I had lived in Sheffield for years so when I see something like this in a Yorkshire derby I am in awe! Shame they wont survive this season, but my first love is Liverpool so its not all doom and gloom!
not anymore i guess lol. Your doing Yorkshire proud and every club but Leeds are happy for you, because they are envious and want to be in your position but lets be honest. Leeds in prem. lol.
Seriously? Having experienced both promotion and survival in recent years i can assure you that for the loyal fans the feeling of survival is just as good as the feeling of promotion. Even better when both sets of supporters experience it together...
@@johnnybhoy9578 You totally miss the point that they knew the score and both would survive you seriously think Barnsley would be doing this if they fought Peterborough were drawing give your head a shake
Worst day of my life 😐😩 (for context Im a Peterborough fan who was at the match with my dad, also a peterborough fan, and my mums family are all crystal palace fans)
For people complaining: if it were your club, you'd expect them to do exactly the same thing. It's Peterborough's fault for conceding two in the final 10 minutes. This match ended first; they had every opportunity to draw level and stay up. Anyway, you should have seen all the time-wasting they were doing whilst 2-1 up at Selhurst!
It's May 2018, and I've just come across this brilliant video. As Wigan Athletic got promoted today, it's extra special. Will Grigg on fire .... nananananananana
Incredible work bringing that score in. Great drama of scoreboard watching. Magnificent! (No wonder Huddersfield are heading to the Premier League and Barnsley are still LC)
@9Pure9 It was a fight for Survival between Barnsley Peterborough and Huddersfield and because Peterborough lost 3-2 against Crystal Palace and Barnsley got a draw they survived and Peterborough got relegated
Never forget that photo in The Star newspaper, with those two old blokes stood in an empty stand at Barnsley. Having Ian McMillan as a 'poet laureate' doesn't help.
wish sky tv and others would use a camera position like this you can really see the build up of play and movement off the ball instead of the norm cam just following the ball
