This will put me firmly in the geezer category, but I remember these commercials when I was a kid, sitting on the shag carpet on Sunday nights with my brother and cousins, watching Mutual of Omaha‘s Wild Kingdom with Marlin Perkins, and The Wonderful World of Disney. I thought it was strange even then that they would mix a cartoon bear with beer, but I appreciated it because it gave me the same feeling of excitement over someday becoming a man that I got when I went into Pep Boys with my dad and smelled the rubber tires, or the car repair shop and smelled the oil. Gotta hand it to Hamm’s too for getting the younger generation ready early and preparing their next wave of boozers. Now that’s planning ahead! 😂 🍺
There are six Harmm's beer commercials done in Spanish from the late 1950s. Instead of saying they are advertising that Harmm's is beer brewed in the land of sky blue waters, they are saying it has a big fresh taste.
My Dad was an ad man thru the 50s 60s and 70s. Hamms was one of his biggest accounts. Somehow the word got out that my Dad invented the Hamms bear. He did not. He often began his speeches by letting the audience know he did not invent the Hamms bear. He loved the ad business and Hamms was probably his favorite account he ever handled
One of the handful of things I can't find after 25 years of web surfing, is the Hamms radio commercial that aired circa 1996-1997. "Wanna get outta here...to the wide open plains...where there's air you can breathe...and beer like no other....a place called Hamms, it's the land of sky blue waters". If anyone somehow has that, I'd kiss your face.
At one time Harmm's was brewed in Baltimore. In 1961 it bought the defunct Gunther Brewing Company and took over that brewery. Sadly, Harmm's was a sales bust there, and the brewery died in 1964.
Theodore Hamms brewery was in St. Paul, MN. The building still stands on Minnehaha Ave. East. The former Schmidt brewery building is nearby. Hamms and Schmidt had been associates.
Great collection, but i remember a commercial where the bear is going after a hit baseball but it's caught by a real life size guy with a tiny glove on his fingertip. Anyone remember that??
Can't beat that! I did too, but in my time it might've been a little more - maybe $2.99. The real deal was $3.99 twelvers of Beast Light or PBR Genuine Draft.
@@joeblough261 Lucky Lager was the cheapest. It was a California beer and I don't think they don't make it anymore. Under the cap for each bottle was a rebus that you couldn't figure out unless you were buzzed.

While it's great to see a lot of these rare old Hamm's commercials, the audio is way, WAY off. Is there any chance that you re-upload this with a fixed audio, or even upload a few of these commercials individually?
I think it’s one of the better cheap beers that doesn’t give you a headache in the morning but I would honestly spend $1 more a bottle for a beer that’s amazing
