Quick video showing the top speed achieved with the 20s LiPo LG cells. We do hit 45mph, but the REALLY REALLY cool part is that my peak current draw was only 85 amps.. This motor can take 250 peak, the BMS can take 200 and so can the speed controller, so I think if we upgraded to 10kw, we'd probably hit 55mph or perhaps 60???

That thing is cool! - Always wanted to electrify my go kart, but its too heavy and was built in the 50's...About your 60MPH Goal: I had a 3 wheel RWD go kart (like a Slingshot but 1 seat in middle) and a full safety cage made from 2" muffler pipe, the frame was a "T" made from car driveshafts...Anyway: it had aircraft tires in the front, a 10" scooter tire on a BMW Isetta rim, NO Suspension, and very quick steering lock to lock was about 1/3 of a turn! - I started w/Techumseh 6hp engine which topped about 35 (RPM constraints) - well when I got older I put a single cylinder 2-Cycle Snowmobile engine on it (about 18HP@7000RPM) well at 70MPH with my @$$ 8" off the ground, steering that if you wiggled it, it would CHANGE LANES! - It scared the crap out of me!!! - So if you do go 60MPH please reinforce your cage, and wear a helmet... PLEASE!

That's crazy! Thx for the advice. We ended up changing the speed controller as the one that was in there was a little light.. Ended up going w/ the Kelly KDZ 550 Amp one.. Acceleration is waaay better but now we're tearing teeth off the belt.. We installed a belt tensioner and will try again!

@@TexasNEV WOW! Are you running a 25mm belt?
@TexasNEV

What kind of advice would you have for someone who hasn't ever done this?

If you're not handy, then you pay someone like me to do it.. LOL.. It all depends on what sort of Napoleon Dynamite maad skills you have. This project would require basic mechanical / extensive electrical and some welding skills.

Do you guys build ebikes from scratch? I'm located in Dallas I been looking for people who can do it locally hopefully we can figure something out!

I generally just do conversions, but the one 100% scratch build I did was the "Terminator Electric Chopper" video. It is terrifying to ride.. LOL I've since upgraded it to a hub motor but haven't posted the video update yet.

@@TexasNEV do you do custom builds for customers. I actually want a echopper the choppers sold online look nothing like a chopper.

@@luxa_soc I know, right? Yeah I could.. The chopper I made in the video took me about 4 mos.

@@luxa_soc Well it was my first time making something completely from scratch, and I'm a little OCD, plus, like most people, this is a side gig and I still have to do my real job. If you go to my website, www.texasnev.com there is a contact page. :)
