Yeah I had seen that elsewhere so when I took off the cranks, I set them back in so they didn't oppose each other tack welded them in place, and viola! Foot pegs!
I have 2 of those OCC bikes and i guess i should publish my videos. Im putting 4 stroke 110cc in mine I had some issues too but I solved them today with some not so safe grinding. Nice work.
Thanks! The big huge giant deal that I'm dealing with now is MASSIVE chain vibrations, even with a tensioner I can't keep the chain on, (and it is aligned perfectly and tight).
@@minecraftblockychris8708 Thx for that.. I've actually been using a sprocket roller tensioner. The real solution ended up me changing the chain. I didn't use the 415H chain that came w/ the conversion kit and just reused the regular single speed 410 chain that was on the bike. The pitch is the same and it fit fine but the chain is so light it was whipping and vibrating all over the place. Once I changed it to the 415H chain, the problem went away. Go figure.
Very cool! I enjoyed seeing how you overcame the various hurdles. My brother had a similar bike back in the day called the "Big Mo", (non motorized). I'm just getting into building motorized bicycles myself and am about to start my first build soon enough so it's great learning about all the different builds on YT and seeing what products and techniques I can incorporate into my own build. I just ordered a Micargi Rover Nx3 in metallic olive green as my base. Super nice bike. Can't wait for it to get here! I'm gonna shoot for a GX120 clone engine and a 30 series CVT with a 32 tooth sprocket. Should be a sweet ride when it's done. Anyway, that was a great video. Thanks!
Nice! Have fun and be careful! That was my only gas project, everything else is all electric stuff that can hit in the low 60's. We're in an HOA so I am mindful of noise, etc, plus, gas isn't my forte, I'm an EE so all things electric / electronic is my gig. :)
I really want to keep the pedal side operating. So it looks like i will have to look at other bike frames instead of Schwinn. Thanks for the explanation of your build.
@@TexasNEV i know, i have the kit. But it looks like the crank sprocket would be in the way of the engine. Unless i make the crank sprocket super tiny..
We had one like that as well, but it was in poor shape. We came across this black one in excellent condition.. So we sold the red one so it all worked out. :)
They make a drum brakes for bicycles I just discovered these they actually work quite well better than disc brakes I've never had a problem with them but I can tell you stories on the disc brakes.
There's a guy from like pedalchopper who sells whole kits for these that do work but they are spendy. Good job getting this to work for you, lots of work but nothing worthwhile is ever easy.
I asked that guy two questions about two upgrades I intend to do on my Schwinn Stingray bike and by way of an answer, I got the following: "I can't help you with that." I guess he took me for a spy trying to steal his trade secrets.
It was just the one off Amazon. It looks great and the size of the motor is to scale on the bike size but it's just not enough power for use from a a dead stop. If that's not an issue then go for it. :) Could be an excellent e-bike conversion (which is what I normally do). There's some 80cc conversions out there and even a few Harbor freight predator 212's that people have done.
U actually made a mini motorcycle. My 49cc four stroke does 48mph 8400 rpm up hills . I have a dual chain 5 to 1 transmission,420 chain 28tooth sprocket on 26 inch rims . Ur transmission is 3 to 1 ,it jerky on take off because of this . If u change to a 48 tooth ur bike will actually have a higher top speed and be quicker on take off, because ur rpm will be higher creating more hp . Ur bike will climb any hill also .plus less wear on ur clutch.
@@TexasNEV there only 30 to 90 bucks . Seriously I put that engine on your frame using a mini bike transmission. For ur son's safety change out the tranny the original is a single chain and will brake, both mine did the shaft over heats and locks up ,the transmission literally folds in half ripping apart because the engine produces 2footlbs of torque at clutch engagement speed 2600 to 3000 rpm. A 48 tooth sprocket takes load off ur transmission it's top end is 43mph ,it is,lol ur bike now does 38mph out the box ,it really does.ive built 5 of em. There's hundreds of videos project farm testing of ur engine is spot on. Please use a 48 or 50 tooth sprocket on the bike it will almost pull wheelies if u do. And they do get 50 miles per tank full ,1 dollar lol fills it up .38 gallon tank is on that bike. Ps get a tac that engine turns 8500 ,stock 7200 underload with 44 tooth gear . Believe it or not that's a Honda 50 cc clone on ur bike that engine came on the Honda cub that did 45mph. Ur engine produces 4.2 Hp at 8500 rpm it really does. The right gear would bring that engine to life.
sorry bud... cant hold a candle to mine... custom motor mounts, 24in rear... Ill have a glamor shot vid once I get it just quite right... lmk what you think so far on my channel though
I have a red one like that on my channel but I'm trying to put a two-stroke not a four stroke on it and I'm telling you if you had problems with four stroke you'll understand the problems I'm having with a two-stroke.
YW.. These really are pretty cool.. If you can find a nice one in great condition, it's a keeper. :) The big issue is finding a replacement rear tire that doesn't cost a fortune...
Perhaps you can bend some metal brackets, use some self tapping screws into the frame or something.. Not sure.. Probably best to see if you can make the metal parts you need, get them placed where you need them and then just go to a muffler shop and have them weld whatever it is you need.
@@LillysSquad I put in the 49cc 4 stroke but if you put in an 80 two stroke it should giddy up and go w/o needing to pedal but that's just my guess. I'm not really a gas-engine guy.. Most of my videos are all electric conversions.
@@TexasNEV I will but I have no idea how. I'm in Houston. My channel is saddletramp1200 I have my 79cc 4 stroke bike in one. I am the real deal too. Tell me how. I'm 67 and a pretty sharp old fart.🤣
Once I changed to 415H from 410, the chain problems went away.. Pretty much good to go.. Plus I have a small supply of 20x4 fat bike knobby tread rear tires for sale on e-bay as well. traderrje is my e-bay seller name.. I only have 7 left.
LA LA LA (plugging ears).. Delete delete delete.. Hope my 12 year old doesn't read this! LOL.. Umm.. no I haven't.. (It's on my list but had to work through the melting clutch issues).. RED COMPOUND CLUTCH rocks.. All others, disposable after a day..
@@TexasNEV lmao fair enough. I was so mad when I first got my motor and realized why I had no power. I've gotten mine with some other mods up to 37 on flat ground.
Get the 3 bladed one with the RED compound. The stock one won't last (3 blade w/ black compound) and the 4 bladed w/ red compound is way too much chatter and vibration as that one is for 2 strokes..
@@maxblack8397 Not handy, that was a couple years ago, but they're on ebay, just search for 49cc clutch. This motor used the tapered shaft. I liked the 3 vane/ blade clutch w/ the reddish / brownish compound. not the black / grey.
@@TexasNEV that's not completely correct. Bigger as in cc maybe, but in physical footprint, no. The predator ghost isn't as tall as the engine you used, may be wider, side to side, but that's easily fixable by welding a wider mounting plate. Front to back it's 7". You'd have plenty of room to mount that. Still a great build tho. Enjoyed the vid 👍👍
@@TheShowgunofHarlem I was just being sarcastic, I getcha.. His grandmother bought the 49cc kit for my son for his birthday the year prior so that's what we had to work with.. It was fun. :)
@@deathwaiting9931 Nope. These engines are not designed for dead start applications or heavy loads.. Even with a kid riding, it's best to get moving by your feet first otherwise your clutch will last a day or so. It's only 1.5 horsepower at best but it is fun and the idea of a mini chopper like this is nostalgic.
