Presenting an Aalap and Thanam in Ragam Hamsanandi set to bring out a meditative state of mind. Use headphones for best listening experience. This is a janya of Gamanashrama, the 53rd Melakarta ragam. It is a shadava ragam with 6 notes in the arohanam and avarohanam.
Some popular kritis in this ragam are Srinivasa Thiruvenkata by Papanasam Sivan and Paavana Guru Pavanapura by Lalitha Dasa.

With the impeccable virtuosity reminiscent of the iconic instrumentalist, late Shri LGJ , blessed Vidushi Jayanti Kumaresh, to my mind, has musically articulated the last word on this subliminal Raga. So glad that a stalwart of her class and mettle has opted to delve so profoundly and intricately into the soul-stirring nuances of this relatively 'lightweight' raga. Since the rendition comprised only delineation in terms of alapana and thanam, it inextricably brought to mind in every phrase Lord Srinivasa and His namesake late Vidwan Semangudi Srinivasa Iyer who immensely popularised the Papanasam Krithi on the Lord with a missionary zeal. Irrepressibly transported as most Rasikas have testified - to the default destination , Thirumala, as far as I, for one, was concerned. Stay Blessed Vidushi Jayanti and continue to enthral us.

Not a great fan of instrumental music for a long time....but Jayanthi Mam, OMG, has changed all that by transporting me to a different world...love her presence, brief explanations, and the “natham” that her deft fingers emanate every moment....wish her a long life of such wonderful service to classical South Indian music.🙏🏼👏💐👍👌

The Sarasvati veena came along with Sri Sarasvati Devi... It is in the name. That is also the reason it is very respected in South India. Tampura also very old ... but not an renowned instrument. These days we only see them in Kacheris and concerts as they are replaced by electronic "Shruti Boxes".
