You are now my top 1# armwrestling channel for the cristal clear teaching & information, for the honesty and understanding each one level, differences & weirdness.. keeping it simple...👊🙂
100% RVJ the strap is for those who have the strong "cables" but a weak hook. I typically always try to end the match with the fist strike and never rely on a "strap match". There is always a risk with a slip, and I find it unnecessary If I can end the match without it. I have had many pullers ask me if I want to pull in the strap when I approach the table, I NEVER just give them that, I tell them they have to earn it. Right on Rob, you are doing a great deed for the sport with your videos. I teach all of my training buddies that every match starts with the tip of your fingers.
“You want to be honest with yourself” fantastic!!! Easier said than done! Most of us look to our strengths and ignore our weaknesses because it makes us uncomfortable or feel weak!!! Great advice RVJ THANK YOU
I just want to say Rob, you're a dope armwrestler! I wasn't a fan of yours for a while, but since I've been going through your youtube videos, I couldn't have been more wrong! One of my faves for sure!
Since this video I’ve really been focusing on hand control abs containment pulling I have progressed so much and has made me beat guys who I never stood a chance with before. Thanks RVJ. Big ups
I really hope you guys don't settle for something of mutual interest as the match approaches. Multiple testing before the match, no compromise, please don't let us down. sharing the results here would be awesome.
I’m working hard at gathering all the data I can and implementing a bullet proof testing regime. It’s a really important part of the match for me. I appreciate all the support.
@@RobVigeantRVJ ...you should honestly reach out to Derek from More Plates More Dates RU-vid channel. He is super knowledgeable, seems to be into AW, and has a huge reach/audience. Could be helpful in multiple ways. Be worth the shot in my opinion
This is truly a meat and potatoes content video for armwrestling training. I’ve been trying to get into the sport and there are just so many angles and vectors to train it seems...thanks for simplifying it down for newcomers like me!
Rob you're the best thing armwrestling related on RU-vid after Larratt, thanks for the amount of work you're putting into this! Oh, and I can't wait to see you versus the Australian Mosquito, finally ending this joke of a saga
Another informative video Rob. I know that Orin’s hand and wrist got really strong from training this way with you. Keep the videos coming. Great content. Stay safe, stay strong and stay healthy.
It would be awesome to see a video on what you're thinking your somewhat longer term plans are. Devon was saying he thinks you need a bigger tank to swim in, via pulling in the heavyweight division. I don't know if you want to move up a category in WAL, or if you have an interest in trying to pull more of the European guys at around your current weight.
Just got home from my first tournament! Got my @ss whooped in the 154 pros! Got 2nd place in 176 amateurs both arms though 💪 guy that beat me was very much a containment arm wrestler almost all of my matches I had to use a posting toproll. One match I contained the guy out of straps, looked at him, and then rolled him to the pad. Felt like a lightweight RVJ 😂
But what if you choose to not lose your hand and not give control... Blue said it, so it must be true.... 🤣🤣😆. Loving the channel champ, keep it going hope it blows up to be huge ! I hope you absolutely take Ryan to the wood shed !
There is a mixture of both but I accept the fact that there is going to be negativity and trolls and I try and put my focus on the people that have genuine interest.
Thanks for the info Rob. Can you please give some tips on how you train your center table pronation so that when you contain someone they cant hook you in? Very much appreciated.
RVJ this was a great video ! I wanted to ask what can and would u do against someone that is strong in a hook and has alot of sidepressure like ryan ? Keep up the great informative videos !
Makes sense, what do you do for arm endurance ? When I pull and someone tries to just hold, my arm will start to tire and then I’ll lose position and lose. Right now I train 4 days a week on a table, and pull every other week at a club practice. Thanks Rob, for any advice.
Rvj im in jersey would love to get into this, former highschool and collegiate wrestler time flies, im a dad now and need motivation to get back to my strength days, would love to know if you teach and work with people... $$.... can't wait to see ya light up "bob"
@@RobVigeantRVJ definitely would love to set something up ill dm you on Instagram im an accountant and have a tax office so were in the busy season but armwrestling I've been binging since covid hit and your the top dawg would be an honor to learn from you , im at the office right now lol
Thanks man. I actually quit the Mash Monster climb before ever failing on one and have closed more than one 4. After I closed the 3 it took a long time to come out with a new gripper and I had gone to Armwrestling by then.
@@RobVigeantRVJ you would definitely be at level 8 nowadays! Maybe one day you could talk about your gripper rutine. I'm gonna check out an interview with you and Jedd johnson this week in grip. Have a blast beating Bowen🤙✌
I got the feeling that timing and speed you had at 10 seconds in would be hard for anyone at east vs west to catch...I had to slow it down to see exactly what happened lol
Devon teaches similarly with regards to the cup. It's important to have a gap on the inside under the knuckles, and to train ego-free. Also, progress is slow, and a lot of people have to be willing to start these exercises with almost no weight. SIDE NOTE: Would love to see RVJ get the chance to take on European middleweights. I think he would be a legit match for them.
Hey champ. I have an almost identical wooden handle like you have. Problem is that when I hold it like that with heavy weight, my tendons get very stained (in a good way) but when i then do the cupping, it starts clicking and stuff (not in a good way). I did it for a while until I really started to experience pain in my wrist. Nowdays I mostly hold it statically and it puts alot of pressure on my hand anyway (but as much on the wrist). Is it still useful to do just hold it, without cupping it? Thanks
How often I train them really depends on the week. I do know that they can take more work than other body parts. For non-professional armwrestlers just train your body to be strong and learn simple leverages that other novices don't understand yet.
I love hand control and I really love watching you pull. Not to sound like a dick but I want to pinch skin off someone hand for running away and make their thumb bleed, I’ve seen you do it!! Savage and Raw Power!
At over 200lbs I did a one arm pullup with 50 lbs in my hand. I would say that is my favorite. I always think about coming back to grip but it is hard to delve back into that world when I am trying to focus on armwrestling hand strength.
Those guys in Dubai armwrestling club need some good advices on training.... They have a battle of egos whenever they get togheter, and besides Ray, I haven't seen anyone addressing that. The problem I guess it's the camera, they know they are going to be seen by thousands of viewers
Yeah Egos are the killer of MANY training groups and with the internet and everyone seeing it, they all want to put their best foot forward and it compounds a negative effect. NOONE wants to see the camera come out when they are performing badly lol
