I love all of my hummingbirds, they are so Precious to me, the more the merrier. They love the nectar that I make them, 4 parts water and 1 cup of sugar, boil for 5 minutes, let it cool, put it in a jar and put it in the frig until you need to fill the feeder. Happy Hummers .

Yeah! Their method of flying is super energy-intensive, but it grants them unsurpassed maneuverability. They can also fly sideways, backwards, and upside-down
It's true. Their wings have a figure 8 flapping pattern, allowing them to hover and fly backwards. I'm watching a hummingbird right now as it's getting a drink from our hummingbird feeder.

North Florida here, we have some regulars with a feeder out front, and if it's not there or empty they'll flit around the front window looking in at us hehe
that is so precious I've tried that one time before I got so excited when they would come up I started to shake a little they got so close I can see the little tiny toenails one even landed on my finger
I've eaten these using a similar method to catch them but I had a cardboard box trap that I could pull closed at a distance. Obviously it's not much to eat so I store them in the freezer until I get maybe 12-15 of them to make a meal. They are really good and almost have a sweetness so I always use sweet sauces when I cook

Just started my journey with my feeders about two months ago. I have 3 different kinds & they are slowly but surely letting me sit outside just to watch them feed. Hopefully before too long I can do this! It’s so magical!! I never realized how territorial they are lol. They will sit all day to make sure none of the others drink from their feeder 😂.
Amazing! They are migrating through my area now. At times there will be 20 to 30 of the little guys crowding around three feeders I have up. They can go through a couple of full regular bottle-sized feeders of food in one day! Is that a beautiful wood thrush I hear in the background. Sounds lovely!
@@ruckusisagoodboyI grew up in Virginia in a house that backed up to a huge woods and the wood thrush was a constant summer companion. I especially remember it being the only sound cutting through the swelteringly humid afternoons when the heat was so oppressive that you didn’t want to move (pre-air con days-I’m old!). That hauntingly beautiful song would lull me through the afternoon right up to the evening when the whip-poor-will would take over. Great memories…I live in the desert now, so a whole different set of sounds
