It's Tank Tuesday! Let us know what you would like to see in next Tuesday's video or ask your questions about our pets and aquarium below. We go over the top comments at the end of every video.
I used to do exactly that when I had a 210 gallon aquarium. I had all kinds of wild, native fish in there. I would remove the hook and go “fishing.” It was fun to see him hit it
@@jordanbrettabbott that’s what I do to test lures that I curious about. Rock Bass, Perch, Bluegill… waiting on a bigger tank setups before doing other bass or salmon/trout.
Bass eat crawfish don't they. I fish for bass often, and I've often used crawfish lures (and real crawfish a few times). Have the bass in this tank tried to eat the crawfish?
With a connector tube comfortably enough for the minnows to migrate to the bass tank. for food. m sure that they will sneak out to eat. make it a real eco-system.
Making the old 55 a minnow breeding tank or maybe getting a water tote so you could have a lot more would be a good idea. Lessens the chances of transferring any parasites to your fish.
.. weekly water change??? ... what?....I haven't changed my aquarium water in 8 months, only topping off as needed, and my fish are at least 5 million times healthier than everyone else's, and the echo system is thriving wonderfully....
For your drift wood, boil it. I boiled mine for a long time I probably spent 6 hours boiling mine and now 6 months later it is still releasing more you won't get it all, but it will help.
Here's a question for the next episode. How big do you see Bonnie and Clyde realistically getting, like do you see them getting over 5lbs or even bigger and what will you do to accommodate their much bigger size?
there is a chemical that you can get and it will coat whatever you put it on and seal it from letting chemicals out, the guys on the tv show tanked use it all the time
hey if bony and clide spawned together would the fry act natural and eat in a tank that they were born in. if so you should do a fish giveaway. My friend and i own a miniature pond with bass and bream in it and we already have them eating minnows and worms.
you should get some good submersible pumps and hook them up to the pythons hose. if you get a strong enough pump you can drain the tank for water changes in about 10 minutes. just using a siphon for large aquariums isn't efficient in the least.
You should put Black Crappies and some Brook Trout in your tank i picked Brookies because they don't get very big Like if you think this is a good idea!
A grumpy Dog thats to small for a bluegill unless you catch it as a baby in a bottle trap and let it go after it gets past 6" otherwise it wont be happy and it might die
The tank is looking fantastic. Really liked the slow-motion feeding footage. HEY, WHAT ABOUT ADDING SEVERAL OR MORE CYPRESS KNEES IN VARIOUS SIZES & HEIGHTS??? I'm talking about some really slender cypress knees of around 3" at the base, tapering down to 1.5" or so at the top. Randomly placed across the back with a few shorter ones in front of those, to add some depth to the look, or favoring one of the rear corners. That would look very realistic & beautiful, plus they wouldn't really take up much space & would compliment everything else already in there. ???????????
you should consider turning the old tank into a native creek fish tank. You coyld put darters, sunfish, crappie, creek chubs ext... And mabey even a mudpuppie... would be neat!
I recommend you get a pond pump form home depot or Menards it's so much faster than the pythons. And you only use water to refill the tank it save half the money on water
I have been reading up on keeping game fish in a tank here in Minnesota. I think a small school of black crappie would be awesome and they're a beautiful fish, IMO...
Just found your channel man I a rescued a bluegill from our lake that I accidentally snagged hooked I was trying to catch bass and he was biting on it and I hooked him towards the back part of his tail so he was bleeding pretty bad anyways I have a tank that’s outside I’m having issues with algae and I am totally new at this thing I have 100 gallon tank and it is under a porch but it still gets about three hours of sunlight in the morning Will be watching your other videos but what would you recommend as a solution besides bringing The tank inside I can tell yall one thing I really learned a lot just from this one video thank you
Bluegill are ballsy fish. I get bites on large lures that a bluegill should never attempt to eat. Bluegill would be our panfish piranha if they had teeth. How long is the sheriff?
Try feeding Red and Red Jr frozen corn. They will love it. That's what we feed ours. Great video. You and Liz Check out our channel if you like. Great video. 👍
I have a crappie warmouth and channel cat in my tank. thinking about putting 2 largemouth or 2 smallmouths in my tank which one should I catch and put in my tank!
We kept a bunch of bait minnows we caught in a trap in a tank along with a 1/2 dollar sized bluegill that got in the trap. A day or so later we noticed the minnows swimming around and none of them had eyes. The blue gill was too small to eat them, but aggressive enough to suck out their eyes.
I put a little bass i caught fishing once in my fish tank ,. I had about six danios in there.( They resemble minnows). I came back an hour later and it ate all my danios. Lol..
So with this many fish what is the food bill? I am very interested in doing something like this but the food bill has me scared. Do you also keep the minnows in another tank or do you make daily trips to get them?
Loving the Tank Tuesday videos. I am in the Czech Republic for 3 weeks (1 to go). Every Tuesday evening, I get my update on the 300 gallon. Liked the additional plants this week. Amazed at how Sheriff holds his own with the bass. By the way, I am from Dothan. If you don't mind saying, where are you?
Love this series guys! I'm always hungry for more. Maybe you could start breeding your own feeders in the old tank to help sustain the big one. Good luck out fishin! 🇺🇸
Ive brought in 2 5 lb largemouth bass in my 270 gallon tank. I have a huge filtration system, but after 6 months, I lose them, I find them floating upside down, again, after 5 to 6 months. I don't do a 50 percent water change maybe twice in that time period. What is killing my bass? If I ad a UV sterilizer bulb setup maybe??
Hey Bama, I have a 55 gal tank now, I have a spot, rock bass, and big sunfish bluegill. I have tried to put crawfish in the tank, but they have not been surviving...Do you do something different to support them? Please let me know. Thanks!
Has any of you raised bluegill from small/baby to full size also done angel fish from small/baby to full size? I ask as I’m new to bluegill raising and have experience with angel fish. ...I’m looking to find out if they grow in size or weight as much as the angels....... ...heck less than a year and I think they are using less food yet growing faster in size & weight than my comet goldfish. Feel free to check my videos and progressessing aqua systemesses s s.
You should add a war mouth, green sunfish, and like 2-3 pumpkin seeds. They would be a great addition to your wild caught tank. I have had blue gills, spotted and largey's, spotted sunfish, warmouth, wild oscars, Mayan cichlids, shellcracker, bullhead cats, and a big pleco that was caught off a crank bait
Whatever you decide to do, please do not get a catfish or a pleco. Everyone thinks that are "cleaner" fish but they aren't. The only plecos that clean well are smaller ones (i.e. ancistrus) that would just get eaten. If you add anything, sunfish, ideally pumpkinseeds, are cool looking fish that would add color and have a decent chance of survival if grown out.
man. i miss my native tank. i had 3 gills, a green, a blue cat and a craw. my smaller secondary tank i raised guppies for a supplemental food source. they reproduce fast! the best thing i did was i started a culture of mealworms (darkling beetles). my gills loved them! actually. i have a few videos, if you wanted to check them out!
Fantastic, Large Tank ... however the Fish are rather pale looking.. have you thought of Keeping Yellow and Red Oscars ?? similar carnivourous fish :-)
How natural can this be with a little house seating in the middle of your tank? Sorry but these types of decor OK on a little kid 10 gallon with a gold fish for fun. They make your beautiful 300 gallon look a bit childish. Sorry
Why do you have live plants and the fake houses in the same tank? And why bass and blue gill instead of tropical fish? Been in the hobby for over 25 years and am just wondering.
live food is NOT safe it almost certinaly will give them a diesease and there not healthy and it may seem fine now ,but you will see them getting sick i woulg reccomend pellets and if you must feed live fish quaritine the fish for at least 3 month .....you have a great channel just thought you outta know :)
You should use 55 gallon as a quarantine tank for the feeder fish. Feed these feeders high quality pellet so as to gut load them. This will allow your fishes to enjoy high quality food without going through the torturous procedure of pellet train them. It also prevent any disease from transmitting to the basses and bluegill.
No questions, but 2 suggestions. 1st, y'all should drop some crickets in the tank. that'd be fun to watch. 2nd, a turtle in the other tank would be cool. Maybe a softshell.
Y’all think I can put my blue gill and oscers together ? Fighting I don’t think they will but environment wise I’m not sure, I don’t know if a tropical climate will bother the blue
With that size tank I would run a drain pipe behind it just like you’d have behind a washing machine and set up an overflow and an auto water changer, put a carbon filter on there so you don’t have to worry about your tapwater having chlorine and if your parameters are good you can just leave water running into your tank slowly all the time and not have to worry about doing water changes. If you want to get fancy you can hook up a sprinkler timer to it and just have it turn itself on whenever you program it to if you don’t want to leave it on all the time.
can you tell a difference in high and low pressure systems moving through your area when your feeding them. And also would love to see some crappies in the 55 gallon... great videos my family really enjoys them thank you
