@Bunkiebe These are European robins. The robin with the white eye rings you are talking about is the American robin, which is actually a type of thrush :) It was named after the European robin because they both have red-orange chests.
There are two robins in the factory where I work. I worried about them flying into a window or being poisoned but two years now and they watch me all the time knowing that I unwittingly drop food for them. They come real close and I'm amazed at their agility and their boldness. My favourite wee bird. I love my robins
I love when they ‘foot up’ I’ve noticed other birds do this too. I don’t know if it’s a ‘thank you’ or ‘I trust you’ or ‘don’t be afraid of me’ but they are definitely trying to communicate something. I ‘foot up’ when ever I notice a bird watching me just to see their reaction.
I'm an American and, no lie, one of my biggest regrets after my first trip to the UK this year was not getting more time to watch these little robins. I LOVE European Robins, they've got so much personality and are so much prettier than American robins in my opinion. And of course, every time I came across one in my travels there were other tourists in the area who would scare them away from the paths, it was such a shame.
Yesterday I was out breaking up soil in my vegetable patch and noticed a Robin watching me. I started to throwing him the worms that I found and he stayed there for an hour eating the worm I found. Today I walked into the garden and he immediately came down and started hopping around my feet. Hope I can hand feed him soon.
I am from India. Many bird species are found here. In my garden, I love to hand feed my friend birds. Like, peacock, bulbul (a type of bird with red patches on neck) , house sparrows, parrots, pigeons and doves. I also hand feed squirrels found in my garden
yesterday a robin i never have seen before just went straight into my hand. With and without food... they’re so light.... so cute. it’s a wonderful feeling!
Once I walked in my holiday house’s kitchen and there was a robin sitting on the kitchen counter! He started to panic because he couldn’t find a way out, but we put some bird seed in a shoe box (with holes so he could breath) and released him back outside. I love robins they’re such happy friendly birds!
amazingly friendly, i've known one for two years, the trust built up in time to just touching her with my finger under her wing [not stroking]. she's smart, if i'm not in the back garden she'll find me in the front. favourite treat is live waxworms and mealworms especially when they breed and feeding their young, this is when i first met her, and oddly enough it was just after my mother passed away. it's a unique relationship and one i'll cherish the rest of my life.
Feeding the birds brings me lots of joy, as a gardner I've always noticed birds around but never paid any attention really , someone close to me passed away , and they used to feed birds and foxes , I do that in there honor and it brings peace and a quiet content , 40 now , my teenage self must be rolling around in his grave lol stay happy bird friends
A couple of years ago I noticed that robins in public parks liked to follow me and ever since I have spent occasional times feeding them different things, everything from slivers of apples, pineapples, various seeds etc. The very first time it was pretty amazing, it munched down the food and then sung me a little song. It knows me by my whistle and every time I pass the park I stop by to say hello, I think only once in two years he hasn't come to say hello, and that day he actually came to visit me in the pub nearby about two hours later. I have tried hand feeding him a few times but haven't had success yet but have gotten close.
@@Jones578 A few days after asking this I had success with hand feeding, I have two primarily that I feed now and they seem to have a territorial issue between them, I call them fat red and skinny red, or FRed and SRena. Theres about 4 robins that have shown up plus a yellow belly bird once, only fed the two robins so far though. I haven't needed a leaf or anything, I just feed them with my hand either on the ground or the bench I sit on. They are both still a little skittish, Fred a little more so, even though fred almost always shows up first. But they do come and react to different whistles, fred comes to a triple whilsle, and srena to a double.
@@8thsinner that is lovely great to hear of your success. Mine was quite picky. It would be perfectly fine sitting on my shoulder or knee but refused to eat out of hand unless leaf. Sadly the robin disappeared from our garden 10 weeks ago. I am hoping it was a territory change due to a new but untamed robin in garden. But fear it may have been neighbours cat that has lead to its disappearance.
@@Jones578 I don't know where you call home Hanna, but here in the UK I have noticed it takes longer for either of my main two to show up since the winter started, It would be sad to think yours are dead but I wouldn't give up. I have spent over an hour waiting for fred to show up some days, it depends on what time I go through the park too, he seems most busy during high sun, and usually only shows up quickly around 5-6 pm these days. You may find yours are just changing routines due to the time of year also. Despite fred showing up quicker most days, it's usually only srena that shows no fear in standing on my fingers on ocassion. Shoulder or knee would be cool. And still no short feat of trust by our little flying friends.
How long did it take for the robins to trust you enough to feed from your hand? There is one little robin who lives in the hedge in our garden but it's extremely shy. I would love to hand feed it! Your film is just beautiful!
Oh my 😮I’d be in my element if I could do that. You must be blessed. I tried and had the Robin pair flying near hand but at last minute turn back. My arms got tired waiting ages to no avail
I'm surprised they weren't attacking each other. We have a total arsehole of a Robin at the mo who's attacking all the others, even the babies. Super aggressive little bugger.
Any tips on how to befriend robins so they can eat from your hand? I’ve a very thin robin living in my garden and I was hoping to feed him sometimes from my hand.
I tried this out in my local park a few days ago...Two robins perched on my hand..The next day I had no food for them..They again came to me but just hoovered over my hand and flew off when there was no food.
Paul, I would end up with 40 to 50 starlings buying my hand off ! A pity because I wish the Robins , Blue Tits , Finches rec are scared off by these pesky ' flying rats ' !
strange to see more than one of them at a time as they are very territorial birds, i have one that comes to my window everyday for food, love seeing them theyre such lovely little birds!
Nice video. I have a couple of Robbins living in a hedge below my balcony and they come to see me and ask for food all day long. I've tried to feed them from my hand but they are not so confident, but they fly around and come in the kitchen I just talk to them and give them some birds food!! They have been making my days easy during this lockdown!!!
They are getting ready to leave. Mum has been chirping all morning trying to entice them out of the nest. They are like my 5 sons lol don’t want to leave home 😂
I’ve recently observed two Robins in different places, doing a really strange sideways back n forth wave like dance, it looks so strange. I assume it’s a mating or territorial thing. It’s like a Mexican wave with their head and body🥰🥰🥰
Thank you for the very interesting share Paul Dinning, from a neighbor from across the pond....unfortunately information turns into a travesty here, so it was really nice to find some beautiful truth.
I had one too visiting me everyday. It was the cutest thing ever. Suddenly it didn’t show up anymore. I think it got killed by a cat or a bigger bird. I am so sad.
Trop belles vidéos avec ces merveilleux petits rouges gorges, que du bonheur pouvoir les avoir sur la main tout en les voyant en totale liberté. Bravo et merci de faire partager vos vidéos
I feed singing birds in my garden all-year. Bullfinchs, tits, a woodpecker and some unknown ones (and squirrels) are interested in my sunflowerseeds, but the robins only eat the remainders (small parts of the seeds) lying on the floor, and I don`t know why.
