Many pipe makers "flame" the bowl to seal & harden the wood fibers. Use of a non toxic P V A glue works well from a health perspective when the need arises.
done a great job on the pipe as always, one more thing you could try for smoking,is a smoking tray ,or a tray to put all the tools on,the ones they have now a days.

Great vid as always, but just a word of caution, some woods are toxic when smoked through. There is a reason that most pipes used for smoking are made from briar (or glass depending on the use) and finished with alcohol based stains and carnuba wax. any oily finish that can soak into the wood, can soak into what you might smoke in it.

joe whiteman thank you for your response. I'm working on a technique where I use all the aforementioned woods in lamination and then install a solid cherry bowl liner. With a 1/8th wall thickness do you think this will be sufficient to prevent toxins in the smoke?
Camron Martin the oils in the wood will make you sick, same as rosewood family woods and ebony and such. There is a great website that has all the information you could want on what woods you can and can't use, look up something like wood toxicity or something along those lines and your find a chart that has safety data sheet type charts on any wood you could imagine.
