George Frideric Handel (1685 - 1759)
Coronation Anthems (HWV 258 - 261)
"Allelujah" aus Let Thy Hand Be Strengthened (HWV 259)
"The King Shall Rejoice" (HWV 260)
The Coronation Anthems is a collection of four choral works that Handel composed for the coronation of King George II in 1727. Its most famous piece - "Zadok the Priest" - remains at the centre of the most sacred part of the ceremony, last heard at the coronation of King Charles III in September 2023.
