HANDEL - Sarabande - Nathaniel Mander, harpsichord 

I just bought one off Facebook marketplace for $35. People found it in the trash. Super cool instrument and way easier to tune than a piano!

@@nothingisreal6816 I’m not sure on the year, but I sold it for $400. It was fun to restore and learn about, but my keyboard skills don’t do it justice. The buyer was amazing as he played it. Brought the whole instrument to life!

I live near one of the last harpsichord builders and restorers in the Netherlands. They're being threathened by the demolition of the neighborhood their workshop is situated - a cheap, messy, industrial area (amsterdam's Havenstraat) surrounded by expensive apartments. The plans are already final, there's gonna be expensive housing in that area. I hope they survive...

​@@mfbfreak I really hope they are able to relocate. I know the past and its relics get trampled under the boots of time and progress but it's important to preserve the histories of all cultures and ethnicities.

I lost the ability to play in my early 40s, and sometimes it almost drives me mad, so finding stunning, thoughtful, careful, and just totally fun videos of some of my favourites are a joy. Have you considered the wild Mozart Variations on Ah! Vous Direz-Je Maman? (twinkle twinkle little star) Those last three variations are sheer delight, and I can imagine how you could make them sing. Hi there! Thanks for your critique. When I recorded this, I played the original sarabande and then improvised over the harmonies in the second half to elaborate on it. I think that's the bit you're talking about. It would likely be different if I was to do it now. Less is more. Keep up the listening and critiquing!

I disagree with that. Ornamentation is a necessary part of all baroque music and it is done beautifully in this case.
