"You don't have to park in a handicapped spot if you're handicapped" Tell that to people like me that are in a wheelchair when all the cars are parked 18 inches apart.
"The mall just hasn't gotten around to removing the paint." So, they held meetings to discuss the pros and cons of the change. They came to a decision on the exact wording/coloring/placement of the sign, as well as which spots would be converted. They scheduled the appointment and paid for the removal and replacement of the signs, but they didn't have 2 minutes and $2 to spray paint any kind of dark color on the pavement to avoid massive confusion. Really???
Why do they need a parking space anyway? They'll just park on the sidewalk, curbside, sideways across the lane or any other damn way they please, emergency or no. All this did was take a space away from those that need it and in such a way to generate fines.
Any time I have been at mall or Wal-Mart, when police were needed, they park in front of the entrance. Not a problem for me. If they are needed, I don't want them driving around looking for a place to park.
I'd say federal A.D.A.law outweighs local ordinance and business rules. Take pictures and sue using the federal system. When the businesses get fined by the federal gov't for A.D.A. violation, they'll get their act together.
The real problem is they stole the extra space that the spot has next to the parking spot. That spot should never be for police unless they are retired officers with placards of there own
They stole those handicap spots! There are plenty of other spaces they could use instead, just a couple spaces away! What a sucky thing to do! I have a friend who's a paraplegic. Her van has a lift on the side. I would be totally ticked off if I were her, trying to find a space at this mall! If I were those cops, I'd be embarrassed!
but cops "can park wherever we want" is what one copy told me....instead of that mall taking a handicap stall....why not take a CLOSE "normal" stall....?
IF PARKING IS ADEQUATE FOR REGULAR FOLKS ITS ADEQUATE FOR POLICE TOO . THEY ARENT HANDICAPPED , THEY CAN WALK . ARE THE POLICE NEEDED AT THAT MALL SO MUCH THAT THEY NEED THERE OWN PARKING SPACES . IF SO THE PEOPLE MIGHT NEED TO FIND ANOTHER MALL OR STORE THAT ISNT AS DANGEROUS .
This is complete bullshit. If a police officer is on a call, he literally could park anywhere he wants. He could park on the sidewalk if he wanted to. The only time that a police officer would use one of these spaces, is if there is not an emergency. And if there isn't an emergency, then why would you need to give them a special spot.
The police do need to be able to be close for emergency purposes. However half the ppl in the handicap have been proven to be using someone else's pass, a big no no!
Technically it’s called an accessible tag, not a handicapped one. Calling it a handicapped spot is a misnomer. Police and Fire Dept can use these spots.
