I was making a few dozen nails today and also need to make some rivets. I thought to myself, how would Glen do this... thanks for the videos Glen!

Very nice! Now, we all need an adjustable rivet header that will allow us to make rivets of different lengths. Surely a simple project for a smith of your skills!

I like the groove around the outside instead of a hole through the rivet header...much more control I think, I usually make mine in the tongs but I've just switched up my ideas and made a small hardy anvil specifically for making tongs with a small horn welded to the top of the block and domed table section for making adjustments to reins, then I have a shallow drilled header hole on a flat section of the table to put the rivet in while I pein the other end through the tongs. It seems to be working out quite well so far but I do need a better way of making rivet blanks in the first place. For such a simple and often used item rivets can be sneaky things to make, especially when you get into making small rivets under 1/4" or 5mm, it's very easy to mash the ends if like me you use wrought iron or non ferrous metals a lot. Maybe try to twist the handle using a 14 or 20 mm rod instead of grabing it from the outside. I will also try that for a tool I have to make. I can Imagine you can close the end loop much thighter with a round rod.

You should look up the plans for a Thunderstorm Generator, and build your own; or figure out how to start mass producing the spheres/half spheres. It would lead to greatness. You are a good blacksmith. You would do very well.
