Cisco DNA Center lets you design, provision, configure, and monitor your enterprise network with point-and-click ease. Now you can go beyond the GUI and program the network to do just about anything.
This episode of Cisco TechWiseTV discusses DNA Center Platform APIs and SDKs with the Cisco DevNet experts, and describes how you can get started.
In Hands-On Cisco DNA Center Platform, Cisco DevNet evangelist Hank Preston shares some common use cases and the amazing things you can teach your network using Python and Postman.
Topics covered:
• How to use the API and where to find documentation
• How to authenticate to DNA Center and query for devices, policies, health status, and more
• Where to go for troubleshooting information
• How to share your code in DevNet Code Exchange
It’s a new world for networkers. Don’t miss this one!

I love Cisco's take on SD Access with DNAC but I've been putting off the purchase of it because I cannot accept the commercial model. I have to pay CAPEX for the hardware and to use that hardware I need to keep paying OPEX for subscription and if I ever stopped paying that OPEX, my control plane would become useless. This is totally unacceptable - either Cisco moves to a Zero-CAPEX pure subscription (pure-OPEX) model or you give customers a perpetual license to use the SD Access features with subscriptions for Security updates and support. I feel that this is such a missed opportunity - I've been buying Cat9k switches and we're using them pretty much the same way we've been using the traditional Cat3k and Cat6k switches. I want to move to SDA but this pricing model is a real turn off.

Open the kimono, what does that mean, who uses that as a reference? I am a cisco guy for network devices but Ekahau is where it's at for Wi_Fi

can i use your URL to send request generate the Token ? I am using the cisco open source Sandbox lab for DNA

We need a few more details to assist you. What URL would you like to use to send a request to generate a token?
@hadnetbaranlok4347

Cisco basically I am not able to call sandbox devices from post man API. The token is not working to access sandbox. I know I have more to understand on the design philosophy however simply posting access request is not working for me. Please advice how would I start over. Thanks again

Would this tech take away networking jobs, at least the lower skilled professions? I spent a long time in school for networking and close to end I learn about this technology

For someone who knows coding DNA is a good place for simplification. But it seems for others, it just adds another layer of complexity by combining coding and network managing together.

There are easier and arguably better ways of performing these tasks without the cisco buy-in. We have solarwinds in our environment. That tool can do what DNA can do without the coding experience required.

There is no requirement to code to use DNA Center or any other network management product, however many network engineers are finding programmability as an important new skill for them to solve problems that packaged solutions from any vendor don't quite meet.

@@PowerUsr1 I completely agree. Everything I've seen in this video can be done with Solarwinds without touching a programming language. If this is the power of Cisco DNA then I'll stick to SW and the traditional CLI access.

@@goatversetvgoatversetv5076 Hi Goatverse, I think this example the 1% of the power of DNAC. The DNAC will be the most power Configuration, Management, Analytics and Intergration platform engine in the last 20years. ;)

Suggest to change the title to "API in DNA" because this basically all they talk about

Agreed. Good video but misleading title

Open the kimono?! Eww! That itself is a signal to change the channel. Would have like more on DNA but still excellent presentation on API's.

Show the nice GUI stuff first rather than talking about the APIs first. First I need to know what the pretty stuff is going to be, to make me want to roll up my sleeves on the API stuff.
