PLEASE do also read the description of the video, where you can find detailed technical information about the watch. I do also want to apologize for saying twice the height of the case is 12,5 mm. Of course, the correct height is 12,15 mm. We do have a new editor, she is called Isabella, and she is not yet 100 % familiar with all the technical terms. It is also not a metal strap, but a metal bracelet. The diameter is 39,5 mm and not the dial. She uses the word chronometer for the watch, but please do not confuse this with an official tested Chronometer. The SeaQ is perfectly regulated and tested in-house of course, but the watch is not a German Chronometer. Correcting these little errors would have meant to completely render + upload this 4k video again. That would have been overdoing it. For me the video is ok as it is. Thank you Isabella for the perfect editing! Looking forward reading your comments. If you have questions, please let me know, I am happy to answer them for you…
I couldn't agree more. The entire diver is a stunner for me. I just wrote it, but I will repeat it again: Not a mass-product, but a top notch diver for the connoisseur...
Beautiful! Just wish that there would be more sub40mm divers out there in a more accessible price range. Apart from Tudor and Oris there’s little to consider.
Aleksander Siemaszko Go for the Tudor, a Longines, a Mido, a Certina, an Union Glashütte ... just in case... forget Oris... that’s just an overpriced packaging for a Sellita - sorry!
"World premiere" on RU-vid, and basically anywhere on the net. Good job, amazing watch. Thanks for the complete review, lume shot, dismantling the bracelet, even a water shot. 8800 EUR on a strap and buying the bracelet separately seems to be the most economic option. I wonder why it is not advertised as a lacquered dial. Are the markers actually applied like the panorama date? It seems to be different, where the panorama date used actual steel number outlay for the luminova, this seems to have a white (plastic?) outlay
Congratulations! Bravo! I am happy to read this! 🙏🏻 May your Sea Q always show you HAPPY seconds, minutes and hours! Do always let me know if you have questions and7or need something...
The SeaQ wants to be on your wrist all the time... So the 40 hours are sufficient... and when there is free to time the need to wind it... enjoy it! Did you hear what I said in the video 😁😜
Very true! This beautiful watch deserves to be worn. I loved what you said in the video about how you view winding your watch each morning! I will think of this each time I wind mine 😂
Very handsome watch. They kept the design very clean and I like they matched the date window close to the colour of the dial, shows attention to detail!
Modern vintage done right, really like this piece. I always prefer date over no-date, but I think this dial would be a home run as a no-date also. Thanks for the video Alexander, hope you had time to enjoy yourself at the pool :-)
This diver is pure understatement, a watch for a connoisseur... No show off involved... 😉 Yes, I enjoyed home sweet home very much this year. No traveling, no stress in planes and much more time doing sports and enjoying my pool...
Really appreciate the shots in the sunshine as it shows off just how gorgeous the dial is! The main comparison for this is their SeaQ Panorama Date which gives you an extra 100m WR, but is 43.20mm by 15.65mm, whereas this new SeaQ is 39.50mm by 12.15mm, and I think, in particular, how much thinner this SeaQ is would probably make me prefer it over the SeaQ Panorama Date. What a stunner!
The longer I see it the more I love it... 38 mm would be too small for me, these 39,5 mm hit the nail. The watch fits absolutely perfect on the wrist. Even though my favorite strap is the synthetic, the SeaQ feels also perfect with the bracelet. That fine adjustment is state of the art and the quality of that bracelet top notch. The SeaQ is a watch that you buy for you, there is no show off component in it and this is what I like the most... Pure understatement!
@@WatchAdvisor Thank you for your reply. FYI, I actually purchased the beautiful 39.5mm blue SeaQ 2 days ago. Then I came across your excellent video. I do have a question, actually. I saw your other brilliant video for the SeaQ Panorama AND the 'Excellent tests' carried out for that particular model. The same tests, as far as I know, are NOT done for the 39.5mm models, but I'm wondering what specific tests the smaller SeaQ models do undergo. BTW, needless to say, I'm loving the watch in the 48 hrs I've had it - workmanship is first rate and a beautiful design AND perfect size (for me). Incidentally, to me a clear case back is nice to have, yes, but definitely not mandatory. What I care much more about is knowing there is truly a high quality movement inside. And on that note,, I think the stainless steel back case is beautiful too, and perfectly aligned as you state on your video.
Love the watch of course but what struck me should be noticed by all other watchmakers. Glashütte has redefined the micro adjustment clasp with perfect ergonomic design that can be adjusted while worn. Absolutely brilliant!
True! Glashütte Original is a very technical brand, celebrates German engineering at a very high level and surprises on top with good design. The brand stands for no nonsense solutions and clever solutions ...
Great Video- Love the water shots showing off that amazing dial. I went to an AD today in NJ and tried on the blue dial on a bracelet and a black dial on the fabric strap. Beautiful watches. I want the blue dial with the blue strap. Going back tomorrow to make a deal. Trading an IWC Aquatimer 2000m (45mm)and a Glashutte Original Sport Evolution GMT (great watch- a tad to big) to try and land one. I was 90% convinced to pull the trigger on buying a blue dial 39.5mm and your great video convinced me that I want that watch. Just a stunning watch in person.
@@WatchAdvisor I ultimately bought the 39.5MM SeaQ with the black dial and the synthetic strap. The blue dial is stunning but I really liked the retro vibe of the black dial with the vintage lume. Keep making great videos WatchAdvisor.
WatchAdvisor Agreed. There are other underrated brands as well. A couple that come to mind are JLC and Moser at the top of the market. At the lower end of the market, Longines comes to mind.
Good luck with the new role Isabella! I just started a new job too so I can imagine how challenging it is. On the watch, I wish it had sightly higher power reserve to really bring the fight to Rolex!
Thanks for sharing and your honesty... Glashütte Original watches, the way they are done and the quantities that are manufactured, do have their price... Yes! You should still go for a touch and feel ... Reward yourself for your interest and admiration with putting this SeaQ on your wrist... One day, you never know, your dream will come through ... 🤞🏻
I am a proud owner of the Seaq Panorama with Grey dial and Gold trim...I must say the blue dial is also stunning. Glashutte make the prettiest dials in the business. The only drawback here is you cannot see the movement. Note however, my wrist is 26 cm or 8 inches so can handle the larger size. I think the larger pano looks silly on a smaller wrist.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us... Congratulations to your SeaQ Panoramadate! Have you seen this video? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-VKYyUymWNu8m.html
Hi Alexander - I have the GO SeaQ Panorama Datum… but I saw yesterday the new SeaQ two tone and immediately felt in love … it’s the watch make me smile as soon as I look at it (not even my GMT Master BLNR or BLRO or any Rolex I had in the past) make me feel that way … I will get it but in the Stainless Steel bracelet… working in a good deal with my AD
Congrats for this wonderful Video Alexandre , to Listen your emotional speak is wonderful - i hear your love for the watch in your words. Go ahead, enjoy this wonderful Sunday - Holger I Found a Spezimatic and bought it - hopefully in some day it will arrive at my collection...... i bought the what because i saw your Video 😃
George, I agree! Glashütte Original ranks among the very best, when it comes to the ratio in-between what you expect and get, how it is made, in what quantities is it manufactured and what you pay for...
I find it odd that they’ve made both 200M and 300M versions of it. Why not just make them all 300M? But I sure do love the blue dial, big date, 300M version! GO makes beautiful dials. I’ve been a fan of GO for well over 25 years. I’m glad the rest of the world is beginning to appreciate them the way that I have for a long time now. I hope they make green and burgundy dial big date versions of the SeaQ.
Manto i certainly agree with all your arguments. 39-40mm is perfect for me. That said, 300M can certainly coincide with smaller sizes. For years, Omega made a 300M, sub 30mm size for women. I nearly bought one for a then girlfriend.
A green dial with a green bezel would be a Hulk copy... I don’t like the color green for divers at all and therefore I also find the Hulk just ridiculous... Tastes are different 😉 🤣 Burgundy though... Why not?
WatchAdvisor a green dial would make it a Hulk copy? Sorry, but I disagree with that. The fact is, the blue dial craze is also a copy of things before it and even thirty years ago UN staked its claim but saying “blue is our corporate color”. UN was bold by making blue dials in a very black, white, and silver dial world back then. Omega, Rolex, Blancpain, and a slew of others have since made their blue dial dive watches as well. Does that make them all copies of the Maxi Marine? I don’t think it’s a factor of anyone copying anyone so long as the pieces themselves are unique. And GO makes some very unique pieces and dials. Take a look at their new PanoMaticLunar with green dial. There are other green dialed watches out there, but that one is extremely unique. I don’t think GO is going to be accused of copying someone else with it. As for burgundy dials, this is something I’ve wanted to see for a long time now. The JLC Reverso rouge is beautiful, as is the new IWC Portugieser eight day burgundy dial, Portugieser chronograph burgundy dial, HM&C Pioneer Mad Red, etc. Blue has had its hayday. Green continues to gain in popularity. It’s time for red to get some attention as well!
@@WatchAdvisor I always thought it would be a black dial but after seeing this blue it is stunning and I just think with the bracelet that is a go anywhere watch.
Thanks for this great video. I would like to add another watch to my collection and have to choose between a Datejust 2 41mm and this beautiful Seaq. I was never really into Glashütte but after seeing this watch i think i will go for the SeaQ.
@@WatchAdvisor i bought it today and I love it. Fits perfectly on my wrist, superb quality and this blue colour is fantastic! I can really recommend this watch
I'm really a fan of Glashutte Original the brand, they make amazing watches, I'm a dive watch guy and this is an awesome watch, I love the look and it's especially insightful from when I watched your original video on the way they're manufactured and this is an impressively made and engineered watch, if I could own one German sports watch I'd go with a Sea Q, the only trouble would be picking which version, great video as always Alexander.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us and the positive feedback... Decisions are best to make when you have the watches on your wrist and compare them... then let your heart decide... this applies for all watch buys... IMO one should always buy emotional and never rational... disappointment will come earlier than thought...
@@WatchAdvisor I know they wanted to stay authentic to the original but I still think this was a mistake on their part to not add one in on this rendition.
This watch nailed it in proportions, design, legibility and practicality. Nevertheless, it's a tough sell at that price, since the Seamaster 300M is half the price and you even get more tech.
Omega in comparison to Glashütte Original is mass production... The SeaQ is for the most part a handmade watch ... compare Glashütte Original to Jaeger-LeCoultre or Blancpain...
Another great video. So love these new Glashutte divers! Can you ask GO to do a video purely on the movements within. I would love to see a breakdown of the internal parts of the 36-13!
John Mcdonagh I love blue and I think this diver is a real alternative to those being mass-produced and hyped... Its a watch for a connoisseur coming from a small luxury manufacturer in Germany...
You saw it!!! 😁👍🏻 That comes from editing my filmed sequence with the wrist shot by letting it run forward and backward 🤣😉 Nothing happens with the watch though...
Most nice. There's a lot to like here starting with the purposeful, easy to read dial. The dial font reminds me of aircraft panel insturments, very tool like. The blue is nicely understated and the adjustability of the bracelet along with the size , make this a very wearable upscale sports watch. I'm starting to like GO more and more. Thanks for sharing.
It is in fact an upscale sports watch that should be compared to Jaeger-LeCoultre or Blancpain... The quantities manufactured in Glashütte per year even make it an exclusive watch...
The earlier release with the black dial and faux patina index markers had printed numerals and markers in the dial. This new blue one looks like the indexes and numerals are applied. Is this correct?
Love everything about the watch. Size, fit and finish. Wish it had a better power reserve and a open case back. As is, I wish it was about 5k. Open case back and about 60 hours power reserve I would pay retail.
WatchAdvisor yes I’ve seen the Pano and tried it on. I like it it. I’m not a fan of the Seaq as looks like a not as nice Super Ocean. I’ve been collecting for over 30 years and would never buy a watch without trying it on.
More power reserve is cool to have, but not a dealbreaker since I assume that this diver is worn daily... The price is what it is... Glashütte Original is a high-end luxury manufacturer comparable to Jaeger-LeCoultre...
WatchAdvisor Alexander it is great that you always try to respond to comments and engage with your followers. JLC have the same low power reserve issue. My half price IWC spitfire has 70hrs. I just don’t understand why is is hard to improve on. SEAQ panorama date has decent reserve. Similar priced blancpain has 100hrs. Take care and 👍🏼
Cheers Alexander. Excellent presentation...as usual. Tell Isabella she did a great job and in future she will be excellent...as expected. :-) The watch...typical Glashutte...amazing. Down side for me... too small, no see through back ( who doesn't like to watch excellent mechanical engineering in action?), and a darkish green strap. Blue and green should always be seem :-) Thank you for your usual presentation.
Thanks for the positive feedback! It is hard to imagine to see the SeaQ in combination with green... For me green is not a color suitable with a diver...
It is not the availability that should be a criteria … the Glashütte Original plays in another league… also interesting: it is rare compared to a Rolex… +/- 10.000 total watches manufactured per year versus +/- 1.000.000 …
I love it; simply love this evolution. The detail and honesty of your review is very much appreciated! Are the indices applied on this version? Not sure that you mentioned that, but if so, that is an amazing addition to the previous generation! What is there not to love?? I have a Senator Panorama Date with an exhibition caseback showing off the caliber 100-03, that I adore. The caliber 39 is about 5mm smaller than the 100, and despite its beauty would not fill the SeaQ case to nearly the same extent. Having said that, the incredibly detailed execution of the solid caseback on this SeaQ is quite beautiful and satisifying in its own right. The total, thoughtful execution of this piece is nearly perfect in my estimation. Thank you so much for bringing this all to life for me.
@@WatchAdvisor last year's 39.5 SeaQ's did not have applied indices like their big brothers the Panorama Dates. This is a huge improvement for this model. Can't wait to own one!
Thank You for the presentation. How does the winding mechanism work? How much torque do You need, when setting the time? I'm used to a JLC calibre 889 and this oone is as smooth as can be. You feel almost no resistance...
To guarantee and increase the waterproofness the crown, the winding system/stem features several gaskets... This causes some friction and this results in a less smooth feeling when winding/setting the SeaQ... But this is absolute normal and noting you have to worry about ...
Alexander as always beautiful review !!!! Sorry for asking about different watch What’s your opinion about Iwc Portofino hand wound moon phase if it’s worth it the price and provide the same exclusivity and beauty as Glashutte original Senator ?
Were you in a hurry when you put on the rubber strap?😂 It’s backwards.. I love this watch, but I think I’ll stick to my old one as I am lucky enough to own the 1969 limited version.
Bravo Sophus! Finally someone saw it! Congratulations! No, I was definitely not in a hurry but I thought let's see how attentive my audience is and how long it will take until someone sees that little detail ... That's me! 👻 I like to have fun and joke around... 👻
Hi Alexander, I just fell in love with the Seaq in 39mm. Actually it will be my first mechanical watch ever. You only turn 40 once ;) I was wondering about it's antimagnetic properties as well as how good it can handle shocks compared to "it's bigger brother" the panorama date or something like the Diver 300m from Omega? Since I dont't plan on collecting and rotating watches but really would like to wear it as my only watch it has to be robust enough to fullfill that job and accompany me for many more years to come. Do you have any information here? Looked for information in other videos and forums but could not find anything. Thx in advance and best regards
The SeaQ will definitely "digest" everything as you expect it to do... This is a solid, high-quality wristwatch. Only the protection against magnetic fields is not at the level of Omega. The watch is tested as DIN 8309 requests. If you are not exposed to strong magnetic fields in anything you do, you will be fine. But still it is necessary to be cautious when it comes to magnets and the more and more appearing strong magnetic fields in daily life also at home. But this is something that applies for almost all mechanical wristwatches...
@@bewegungsstark There is no risk... this is a real good sport watch and it will not disappoint you. But as with everything in life you should simply accept certain limits... when going really, really rough wear a Swatch...
Really struggling between this and a 16610 Sounds crazy but the Rolex is sooooo, so ubiquitous. This is so unique. Hard to stray from the crown though. Need advice. Help!
Dare and go for the SeaQ! There is nothing wrong with the diver. Top notch quality, cool design, a real luxury product, decent, understatement, a watch for a connoisseur ... GO manufactures +/- 10.000 watches per year, Rolex +/- 1.000.000 ... The only thing is, that you might have to explain the SeaQ... with the Rolex this is not the case...
@@WatchAdvisor Hey! Thanks so much for advice! The 10,000 vs 1,000,000 is a powerful thought and I fully agree. And yes, having to explain the GO is one of the things I really like about it. Love that it flies under the radar, that it's not instantly noticed on the wrist. Therefore people will not form opinions about you solely based on your timepiece. I am slowly, but surely making my way to the SeaQ camp!
My utmost respect to what Rolex has achieved so far, to the quality of their watches and to the status they have... But still I don’t wear a new Rolex anymore, only my vintage ones... I simply e.g. don’t want to go to a restaurant and look like dozens of others. I don’t go to a club meeting, or a Rolex convention! To many only buy these watches, without knowing anything about mechanical wristwatches, to underline their status and good investment ... I have arrived at wearing-a-watch-3.0-status.... admiration, keeping the value ... I couldn’t care less... It’s the watchmaking I’m interested in, I buy what I like and I don’t mind to explain a watch... Glashütte Original is the German Blancpain or Jaeger-LeCoultre and all these manufactures do have incredible sex appeal for me... If your heart says yes, go for the SeaQ, you will never regret it 😉
Bravo! That’s for sure a cool diver... I would wear the blue one with synthetic blue strap... but that’s me... I have a soft spot for blue... What I would do is go and try the different variations on your wrist and then let your heart decide... that’s for sure the best way to buy a watch... If you have questions and/or need help please let me know...
@@WatchAdvisor heart says both hahaha . Both have their advantages and disadvantages but i really liked the applied numbers of the panorama date model , but this just leveled the playing field. If both models fit your wrists (like mine ) what would you get ...and why ? I would like to know your perspective.
@@macoyupadoodle Difficult in fact for me too... One thing is clear the color would be blue... Let me say it this way: I tend more to the SeaQ since I already own a Fifty Fathoms of Blancpain ...
@@WatchAdvisor yes the blue is stunning , i also like the caseback design ......... also the sapphire caseback , so hard to decide between the 2 versions of seaq . Anyway hope you review more models of Glashutte Original . I love the brand and have 2 of them already (maybe 3 soon). Hope to see more great you tube content from your channel sir.
Not a bad diver. Looks pretty good and slim enough. Like that old style tropical strap. Problem is how well it can be serviced locally near me I suppose, no different than a car. But that is a first world problem I realize...but, in general, I overlook any date size issues w these divers. Honestly, who cares about the date when swimming or at night? That’s what a phone or computer is for.
Where are you based? A watch like the SeaQ must be serviced every five years if normally used. If used under heavy conditions then earlier. A check of waterproofness should be done every year if possible. This is something that can be done in some minutes with the appropriate equipment...
Yes, it was! You are only the second to see it and I am happy you did. It was a joke/try from my side... I wanted to see how many of you will see it... Thanks for watching the video as intent as you did 😉
Almost a perfect watch. The center links should be brushed because it is a tool watch. The bracelet should also taper for comfort. Two things the Submariner have over this watch.
You can't compare a Rolex Submariner to a Glashütte Original SeaQ... two totally different segments ... it is like comparing apples and pears... Sorry!
Too bad that there are not more authorized dealers that sell Glashutte watches. The nearest one to me in Florida, USA is a 500 mile round trip. I would have to see this watch in person before I would purchase it. Very disapointing
if you had to choose one... a sport watch from glashutte or bp ... what would it be ? time with date or chrono ? would love to hear what does an expert like you say
Number two after A. Lange & Söhne... but thereafter there is a HUGE gap to Nomos... Glashütte Original can be compared to Blancpain, Jaeger-LeCoultre...
This watch makes you dream of the beauty of movement, isn't that the essence of" Haute Horlogerie"? In a few years the German watchmaker will "eat" the Swiss watchmaker! Patek, Vacheron, look at the train coming in at hight speed! thanks Alexander.kind regards.
Some of the Swiss elite manufacturers due to the hype around them got lazy recently... A. Lange & Söhne, Glashütte Original and also Nomos in its segment are the new pacemakers... 😉
I once saw a 1970s Glashütte spezimatic at a dealer here in the UK. On the casebook it said "Ehrengeschenk des ZK der SED" I don't know what "ZK" or "SED" means, but I'm guessing it was handed out as a gift by some Communists to their Kumpels? On the whole, I think Glashütte Original have now recovered from the embarrassment of the nationalised Ossi-Käse era in their history! :-D
Thanks for your feedback! Are you talking about the ads you see before the video starts? This is RU-vid, not us… Get yourself a Premium account and you will no longer see them…
They made a big mistake with the closed caseback. There are hundreds of these available online at a discount. They should release one with a monochrome colour scheme, with no faux patina, and an open caseback.. and they will sell out.
The SeaQ 39 mm is a re-edition of the original from 1969… and that watch did not feature a see through case-back… I checked online and saw that a wast majority offered SeaQ models is not the 39mm as you mentioned, but the bi-color SeaQ Panorama Date version … the 39mm SeaQ is what it is: a very cool niche product.
Why did you accuse me of deleting your comment? I have never deleted one of your comments! My answer stands here... posted some time ago already... I don't get the point!
The 48 hours today are no longer the standard, of course... See it that way: Wear the watch all the time - this can be done - and you never have to wind it anyway... Or simply enjoy this moment with the SeaQ, as I describe not in the video .... 😜
Not showing the back "to stay authentic" was a stupid decision. People dont know the original seaq, it has no followers it is not sought after and no one cared that it existed before this watch came out. What people do care about is looking at the movement in a watch by a company that is famous for its movements. for 10k nonetheless
I fully disagree! Either you celebrate a watch from the past as it was or not. These opportunistic interpretations you only do if you don’t have the spine and the courage to be authentic. If people don’t know the original Spezimatic from 1969 and the brands history it is time to start to read and discover...
