PolyMem's cleansing system is designed to increase the amount of drainage for the first few days to a week so that the chronic wound fluid and contaminants are removed atraumatically. For heavily exudating wounds, use the PolyMem MAX or standard PolyMem with WIC under it for extra absorption. Leg wounds often benefit from compression in order to improve the circulation and heal. When using PolyMem with compression, if the wound is weeping a lot, use PolyMem WIC so that the excess fluid will go through the WIC and into the absorbent layer of the compression.
