You did an awesome job bringing the mobile set up info to us. I have the same sticks. I have not cut them down yet. But have put to attached raiders to the bottom 2 sticks. I used a saddle this year so I dropped the weight of the stand. I was comfortable but will need more practice this off season. Thanks for the share. Have a BLESSED day.

I wish they had that stuff decades ago. I've used numerous tree climbers. I've had more metal rattles during hunting season and dropped wrist-wrap trigger release a couple times which taught me to always carry a spare. I may make raised blind this coming season. I never know what I'm going to do a year ahead (smile). Great demo; full-watch. Have a fine week.

@@HuntingFarmerOfficial why is everyone modding the hawk stick with ropes? They used to have a cam buckle strap with loops and now they have a strap with loops stitched every couple inches. I would recommend checking out REI.com You definitely want good quality rope (as your life depends on it). Another option is to buy a Muddy “Lifeline” meant to safely climb up and down tree stands. It’s between 30 and 40 feet long and is climbing rated rope. It’s readily available at about any sporting goods retailer and you could simply cut it into desired lengths. 👍

I like the idea and I do a similar system, but I regard to talking about not clainging and banging metal on metal, your caribener can easily bang into your sticks that are on your sides, and your stand can also bang into your sticks that are on your sides. Maybe attaching rope loops to your harness to let the sticks hang lower would solve that problem I think it would. Also as for walking in with your sticks strapped over your shoulder again you have metal on metal with the sticks bumping into the stand as you walk. I could see that definitely happening. Those are small issues to fix but could cost on noise
@HuntingFarmerOfficial
@HuntingFarmerOfficial 3 года назад
Thanks for watching! You have some great points. I’m definitely going to try adding some paracord loops! When I carry my steps with the aider as a strap they don’t hit my stand. The only thing I have to watch is them hitting brush and making noise. 👍

Is there a significant reachable height difference with the cut sticks vs. full length sticks using an aider and leaving out the weight variant ? Thanks for the informative video !
@HuntingFarmerOfficial
@HuntingFarmerOfficial 3 года назад
There is a difference in heights. Of course each person will be comfortable with different spacing depending on their leg length etc. For me I end up using 4 short sticks to get to approximately the same height as 3 full length sticks. I typically use the aider on just the bottom or the bottom 2 sticks 👍

You mentioned that you wear a rock climbing set up. Does it have a tether in the back like a full harness? How do you rope off once set up? Thanks
@HuntingFarmerOfficial
@HuntingFarmerOfficial 3 года назад
Thanks for watching. No the rock climbing harness tethers to the front at belt height. Your tether then wraps back past your waist and to the tree (much lower than when you wear a full body harness). I prefer this because I’ve had trouble with my tether getting in the way of my draw when it’s up by my neck. 👍

I have absolutely no regrets with the rope mod on this style helium sticks. The newer ones do come with a versa button and a strap. It is considerably lighter because it has the plastic button vs the metal attachment point. The new ones also have no metal hooks but instead have the loops on the end of the straps. Make the same video on a gnarly old tree with lots of branches instead of these telphone poles. If I have a telephone pole tree, nothing will ever be easier or faster than my Lone Wolf hand climber. Every climbing stick video I see on RU-vid is on telephone pole looking trees. I want to see you go around branches, because going around branches is the only reason to even consider climbing sticks over my Lone Wolf hand climber in the first place.

Thanks for watching! No doubt limbs slow the process down but it absolutely can be done. I’ve hunted more trees this year with limbs everywhere than I ever had before. You must use your tether as a second lineman’s rope to safely navigate the limbs 👍

Is that the air raid evolution?
@HuntingFarmerOfficial

It is the new version released in 2019. Not sure if that’s the evolution or not? It’s definitely lighter than the previous air raid years 👍

Ok, I am searching your videos to find how you made your climbing aider
@HuntingFarmerOfficial
@HuntingFarmerOfficial 3 года назад
Not sure I ever did a video specifically on my aider. I just used tubular webbing and an overhand knot. I put a section of garden hose with a paracord cobra wrap to help hold it open for your foot. 👍

HuntingFarmer yep. I use a XOP Vanish and their sticks. 4 sticks, 20 inch minis. With the Aider I can get plenty high

Good content....I would say putting anything around your neck while climbing is not a good idea ...

Non locking biner is not ideal for anything that gets loaded and unloaded.... lineman’s loop should be a locker

cool but way to much trouble. a climber is faster, quieter, more comfortable and safer

No doubt there are pros and cons to any method you choose to use. In any given year I’ll use a climber, hang on, ladder stand, saddle, and blinds. I feel they all can have their place 😁 Thanks for watching and sharing your opinion (experience). I appreciate it 👍

Watching someone climb a tree like this after switching over to saddle hunting really irks me. Hang n Hunt stands are so unsafe it's wild. Climbing a tree 20+ feet while never being able to use both hands, most guys don't use a bow rope and try to climb with all their gear. 99% of people people who hunt with these set ups and never practice. Equipment never gets checked. I have family members that have hunted for 25 years that have fallen out of the tree and nearly died. Using a saddle, you can ALWAYS use both hands, you're back is completely supported and you feel completely weightless. There is never one moment in a tree saddle that you will feel unsafe. I don't see how guys could ever spend a dime on a hang-on like this. Saddles and ladder stands in prime spots. Not interested in having anxiety attacks and making noise for an hour trying to hang a stand in the dark. I'm not trying to down anyone who uses this, I just see it drastically being outdated. I'd love a comparison video side by side with using a Lone Wolf hang n hunt set, and directly next to that I want someone climbing the tree in a Tethrd Phantom XL. The saddle hunter will be hunt ready in the tree 80% faster than the hang n hunt, and so quiet you could set it up with deer directly under you.

I have a small mod for you. On halk helium stick, on the cups that holds them together during transport, flip the cups on one stick. This will turn the part that hits the tree the opposite of the rest making a slight smaller package and not dig into you when carrying
