I didn't do that at all ;) I was at PPG training...we filmed on Christmas Day. We had some time for family, but then I was gone for a week, alone at training in IL :(... But the training was a success ;) Hope you'll check it out when the video comes out in the next few days or so ;)
Brian, Watched both videos on the P-47 Funscale Thunderbolt. Enjoyed them both the flying and video were both very well done. I bought this model and will enjoy flying it. Thank you for your insights and thoughts. May you and your camera crew enjoy the Holidays.🎄✌👍
Thank you Brian love watching all your videos very informative I’m just getting back in to the hobby after 20 years bit more time to myself lol keep up the good work 👍
That is awesome! We hear this a lot, and very glad you're here with us. This is the right place to get back up to speed, and don't be afraid to ask a question...we answer them ALL the time. I regret to say that sometimes it takes me a few days to get caught up, and now is one of those times...I'm trying to catch up from my week away fro PPG training.
Brian I agree this does fly good It just needs a lot of runway cause I saw when you land it keeps going up and down and class in the glass ya you mind to need to fly this somewhere that’s has a lot of runway. And the prince is 500$ I mean that is expensive to me but just be careful when you land.
Is it a hard to land plane? Love the look of it in the sky. The smooth finish of the silver makes it look so good. Almost like chrome but better. Definitely on my list of future planes!! Nice work guys!
"And I'd pretend it was beautiful..." 😂 😂 😂 😂 this is awesome. I really really need to get one of these. Been looking at getting a balsa kit or arf here soon. Wouldn't mind both tbh. I kinda would like the challenge (or pain) of building and covering 😅
Preference here - I fly prop planes to about 3.3-3.6 VDC....and EDFs to 3.6-3.8 VDC...depends on the plane and how long it takes to get into approach. You have to start modifying your flight pattern as your battery gets lower...so you don't end up in a low pass with no power to get setup for a landing ;)
These vids are always helpful but I wish that we'd spend more time on slow flight including landing configuration to explore the limits of control and stall characteristics.
If I had better weather I could have done just that...BUT I can tell you, this plane doesn't like to fly slow. It's FAST or on the ground. I wanted it to be better slower, personally.
iv been having problems with the screen on my dx6 that seem to get worse when its cold. have you ever experienced any issues with your spektrum transmitters? its like the refresh rate is slow. its noticeable when warm but outside in 30-40 f temps the screen turns black. horizon said to send it back seeing as how i just got it a month ago. but im kinda procrastinating cuz i still wanna fly!
Yes, this is not a Spektrum thing, it's an LCD thing. Liquid Crystal Displays depend on the liquid to be liquid and not ICE...so when it gets COLD, you'll see this ;( I have the same issue with my DX18 (LCD same as yours, just more resolution). That being said, the NEW NX8 doesn't have that issue ;) Different type of display - YEAH!
Does the NX8 have a momentary switch you could use for thrust reverse? That way it's only reversed as long as you're holding the switch, and it goes back to normal as soon as you release it.
One of my 4s 2200 g2 batteries will only discharge to 70% 3.95. No matter what I set the storage voltage to with my xbc100. Really annoying because the autostorage feature is really the only reason I got the smart batteries. Got any clue?
Never heard of it. I'd try to change the SETTING to a different value and see what happens. If the pack doesn't respond, hit up Horizon and they'll probably ask you to dispose of it and get a replacement. They don't want lipos back when there's problems, but I'd personally like to know what's up. Good luck with your decision. If you don't already know how to do it, just plug it into the XBC, and you can setup the pack there, or on your charger. I always seem to make setting changes on the charger, myself.
Hey Brian, great video as always. Got a question about buying through your links. If I use one of the master links, say Tower or Amazon, can I buy anything and get you guys a commission? Even if it’s not something you’ve reviewed? Like, would it help you if I bought a printer cartridge or rubber dog poop on Amazon with your link? A model car from Tower? And if it is something you reviewed, do you get more $ if it’s the product link or the master link or is it all the same?
Yes, and please do ;) We really appreciate you doing this, and it really does help!!! We get credit for basically sending you there, when you buy anything. So, if you follow the link to a horizon hobby item, and then you navigate to something else, we get credit. Same at Amazon, Tower Hobby, Hobbyzone, Titan Attachments, but if you follow to a Banggood Link, I don't think it works that way ;( We appreciate you asking, and it really does help a LOT!
No, Not sure I would take that position. Now, it has more presence. It's just BIGGER, and more beautiful for sure. It's more FUN to fly, in that it's just has something the Timber doesn't. I've always thought the Timber Evo 1.5m (and predecessors) was too easy to fly...I know, weird...but you can just pick it up and do anything with it. It's like it's TOO easy. The Draco is more SCALE flying...it takes more skill, and when you get it right, it's more rewarding. It's also beautiful, and so scale...which MAKES the flying experience for me. If you're going for hands down flight performance...the Timber probably edges out the Draco very slightly, but if they made a Carbon Z Timber - OMG...Draco watch out.
@@BrianPhillipsRC Thanks for the great response. I compared them sis by side on the simulator real flight full rates and Draco just seems too ez. Maybe that's why I had a successful flight on my first try ever because it was little and big turbo timbers that I bought first from watching your flicks. I'm gona pick up draco too but I want that giant P 40. 6s beast that banana hobby used to sell. If ya got a line on one let me know. Thanks for the information once again man. Stay safe ice
Hey Brian, I’m a new RC guy…Thank you!!!! You talk about supporting your channel, how is that done? Is it only through the links or do you have a code? For instance you talked about the “XBC tester” but there is no link. If I go to a site through your link, do you get credit for my whole order or just the link. How do I guarantee you are getting credit? Thx again. Great work.!,!
Great quesiton! There's many ways to "support our channel" ... I.E. Give us money... How this works, is we have relationships with the companies who send out planes for our review. In turn we point interested buyers to their web site. When you follow the link, we get credit from the company (not from you...you pay the same price, get the same warranty, get the same item...same everything...they just have a "cookie" that says you came from BrianPhillpsRC)...say it's a small percentage of the sale of the plane, or battery, or transmitter - you name it. So for example, we have this list (below - "Help us") and you can click on any of the links, and they will know you came from us. We are called "affiliates", which means we are loosely affiliated, but not paid directly from these companies. We don't get paid to do what we do, but we do get paid a small percentage if you decide to buy something. For us, this is the best way for you to support us, since you want the plane, transmitter, battery, whatever...tractor implement, toilet plunger, grocery item - whatever it is...you pick, and we get a small commission to help fund our channel. Also, we have Patreon - you give us a gift monthly...Patreon keeps their 15-25% worth of fees, and then 1099's us on the overall proceeds of the year. This is another way like to support us, with direct gifts of monthly support. There's some protections for you and us on Patreon, but I hate the wasted money on fees! We also accept Paypal - people will, believe it or not, send up money randomly. To them, it's not random...we made a video, helped them out, and they want to say "Thank you - you saved my butt on this stupid problem I was having" - or whatever it was....we don't always know the exact rationale for the support, but we gladly take it. In short, we have an amazing audience that loves to see what we're up too, even though many of our longest term audience members remember when I refused to wear a lav mic for YEARS, or we crashed a brand new plane 15 times (or whatever the death count is up too)...people see we're the real deal, and don't bow to the companies that want us to lie to you...we serve you, and in return, some have decided to help keep us in front of the camera, as a result. We're just a regular family...I work a demanding day job, and my wife stays at home with our kids (she was a teacher for 10+ years), so we've both worked out whole adult lives to get where we are, and now we've got this strange and exciting new way to help spread the joy of RC, Aviation, Lifestyle with our loyal supporters and new audience. P.S. You can click on any of the below links, and you will see what we were suggesting. You can also click the "Master" links above. They will take you to the home page of Horizon Hobby, for example. Anything you buy for a period of time will show up as though we had directly pointed you at it. Same is true for Amazon...so if you need that 30,000 pack of AA batteries, or 15X 65" UHD Monitors, we will get credit...and yes, we have had this happen a few times (not EXACT items...gut you get the idea) If you have any questions, please do ask! I have a couple in the basement. I'd invite the opportunity, but to be honest. I love electric planes for a lot of reasons, not the least of which is that I have greater expertise in Electronics.
I got a f16 for Xmas and killed it on the first flight, very disappointed with myself. Thought I was a better pilot but the f16 schooled me hard and still licking my wounds.
Hey guys here's an open invitation to participate in a virtual Fun Fly in Real Flight Multiplayer field "Montana Madness" every Tuesday night 9pm-10:15pm. It's a lot of fun with RC pilots from all over the world. Spread the word.
I think this plane was pretty tough to land, and on 6S it's INSANE fast!!! Grass would be fine if well manicured, and SHORT, but I want to land a beauty like this on pavement.
@@BrianPhillipsRC seemed a bit easier when you were landing it in the street. At least you made it look easy. Getting that thing slowed down to land in your driveway must be tough
