A miracle: smart but not academic, exhilarating but never narcotic. Opulent but not overloaded, effective but never superficial! The gateway to a new musical universe we haven't heard of before.
This is the type of work that goes relatively unnoticed for a bit and then it blows up, or, at least, that’s what I believe will happen. Boy is this good, these sounds are so soothing and they transport you someplace ethereal, it’s a type of dream where you feel like you’re both floating and descending but it isn’t daunting, on the contrary, it’s… tranquil.
After listening to the album 2 times now I have to say the Komeda is my favorite track. The album is excellent and just per usual we are being spoiled by Hania. That being said, it represents a little deviation. Perhaps the mark of an evolution of Hania as an artist. More electronic samples and a more calming voice. It all comes together nicely. In my subjective experience, my favorite tracks are usually those of Hania one on one with grand piano. But that's just me. other than that, an excellent addition to Hania Rani's repertoire.
Young but an old musical soul. I grew up in the generation that cut their teeth on the Beatles and everything from the 60's and 70's...everything....Led Zep, Allman Bros, Steely Dan, Return to Forever, Metheny, Keith Jarrett, classical period instruments, ambient: Eno, Roach, more modern stuff these days--Moonchild, Jacob Collier, Sarah Jarosz, Tom Misch, Go Go Penguin, ie you name it my ears are open to everything. But Hania Rani is it, I mean it! She had me at Hello which came out as a preview I think back in June and listened to it many times before the whole record came out in October, although I really liked her instrumental stuff from other albums already. Hearing this entire album was just a transformative experience; it's just a masterpiece and I LOVE her voice and singing! I reserve my highest compliment to musicians when I say, for lack of a better descriptor, or maybe from too many praises piled up in the brain, that they're...musical, just so very musical. And that's how I'd describe Hania--Musical!
Thanks Gondwana Records for promoting and believing in that kind of Artist. It brings to me a certain hope, thinking that few people believe in that kind of beauty and necessity through that kind of deep -felt music. Also, this album is brilliant, a journey, a story, with and without words. The talking and the mute are dialoguing with each other perfectly.
Hello!
A truly exceptional emotional adventure in a time where music is being mass-manufactured and AI generated. This journey makes you realize that true art is still not defeated!
imagine having this high level of quality in all your work, and then this level of productivity as well. please be mindful of your energy Hania. we love love love your music, but don't give yourself a burnout
Hania, the boat is my favourite song. I was allready on your conzert in frankfurt and 2024 i am on your conzert 14.3. In wiesbaden (my town). Verry long vor waiting.
I’ve just left concerthouse in Wroclaw, what a stunner with new tunes she said has written one week ago! Is third concert, every one totally different and a total experience.
Once again, another release divinely timed.... It's on a loop, I started a new drawing this week that I'm absolutely thrilled about. & the movement of the music of this is guiding my hand - from the fine lines to the shading. This album is so fae... Cosmic... Whispy... Gentle.. Experimental. It's soft, yet bold. I can sense the various influences (from Gondwana and also artists she listens to on spotify) I can definitely hear-feel the ghost-like qualities within some of the songs ('Whispering House' & of course 'Dancing with Ghosts') The previously released 'The Boat' follows 'Whispering House' so delicately and so beautifully.. It paints a picture (beyond the words themselves, the keys and synths and instruments just as effectively paint a picture) I can imagine where she composed some of these songs - the haunted house she's described in the past... I even feel some of the essence of 'Woven Song' woven within the album. (I, of course, perked up when I heard her sing of fire since that's my nickname 😊) It's so funny because when she released 'On Giacometti' I was staying in a giant house on the beach during these powerful storms and it complemented the scene perfectly... And also aligned perfectly to the painting I was working on at the time... Divine. My favourites are '24.03', 'Dancing with Ghosts', & 'Komeda', of course, but also, I'm really loving 'Whispering House' (with 'The Boat), 'A Day in Never', 'Moans'.. really the whole album is lovely. I love the instrumentals of 'Ultrata' too.... I feel like the instrumentals could move into another piece/series/album as an intro.... A forward movement....
If you are here, you have an excellent music taste, that's for sure. Hania never disappoints. Not only it sounds different from the previous album but also from the first one (loved them all), and seeing this evolution within only 3 albums it's such a joy! It does sound more "compact" and organic than the previous ones and even more experimental while remaining in Hania's sound. Lots of love to everyone here who's listening, keep it up! 🚀
Listening to the album after listening to the concert a couple of days ago, and these are two different experiences - pieces like The Boat, Don't Break My Heart render very differently, and I can't say which rendition I prefer... And I wonder how much crazy would it be to see Hania jamming together with Tangerine Dream (or even just Thorsten).
Finally, most of songs from my favourite concerts released in album. Hania has an incredible talent of creating a magical and creative form of music. I love every minute of it and listen it on loop.👏👏👏
That is quite what happened to me, though it was just listening to the Gondwana uploads of her album Home and Esja. Completely entranced: still am, and I am stunned that I am able to see her in this tiny theatre in late Nov. in the U.S.A.
Beautiful compositions, as always Ms. Rani! It goes well with this first real day of automn here in Germany. Thrilled to see you live in a couple of weeks, especially with these new tunes.
As I have listened a lot to Hanias live version of this album and like it very much I still have to say that this official album is the definite Hania Rani! Thank you all so much.
Many thanks for sharing your creative work. Collaborative musical creativity is a sort of blessing in a wounded and self-affirmative world. Blissfull art from you coming to us.... now into 24:03. Thanks for helping to open into uncharted spaces in a troubling world.
