Rare recording of a Hank Williams live show. Recorded at Sunset Park in Pennsylvania by Melvin Price, a musician in a local band.

In 1953 I climbed on the school bus and a friend said did you hear Hank Williams died, since we didn’t have a radio, I had not heard , so we sat down and talked about him all the way to school. I’ll. never forget that day as long as I live, I’m 82 now and still love Hank.

That enthusiastic MC/announcer introducing Hank at the beginning of the show is my own father, (Ray Davis) who met my mother on this very day behind the stage. He passed away a few years ago. I just Love this live show recording of Hank Williams!

It’s confusing when asked if you like country music. There should be 2 categories of country. The “ new country” & the real as this.

I matriculated at The University of Kansas in the early “80s”. I had an unenlightened English prof pontificating on the “stupidity of country music.” I brought the best of hank and a brobox to the next class, and the prof was exposed.

Country music before the 80s is worth exploring. After that, it's just a kitschy version of rock/pop.

Incredible that I can hear a Hank Williams performance from 1952 right now in 2023. Also, great quality. Much clearer than I was expecting it to be.

Wow. He had been up all night traveling and had three shows to do that day. Holy Cow. Just listen to him. Joking, singing, selling, responding to the crowd. A true professional. A real talent.

In the 1950ties my sister’s deaf babysitter jacked Hank up. I was for rock. Hated country. Today I love everything he sings ❤RIP Hank

My father took me to two concerts at sunset park . I was 7-8 at the time and I think I was here to hear Hank because my father liked him. I still listen to all I can of his music. The greatest country singer of all time
