My Dad saw Hank in 1952 and got to hang out with him for about 20 minutes backstage. Till this day my Dad still says it was the best concert he ever saw. God Bless.
My dad’s best friend Ken Reynolds use to do all the bookings back in the day. A few years later Ken offered my Dad free tickets for some new kid. Elvis somebody. My Dad said…. Oh that kid is not going to go anywhere….lol Who knew Ken was talking about the future Best entertainer of all time. Have a great summer and May God bless you even more than He has already done. Roy

Sorry it was 1950, I thought it was 1952. The years kind of blend these days. Hank was wearing a knee brace and it jingled to him singing. Like I said after hanging out with him backstage ( My Dad ) said it was the best concert he ever saw. Have a great summer everyone and may God bless you even more than He has already done.
I had a big crush on Hank Sr. When I was a child. My mom had two of his albums and I listened to them a lot. It wasn't until I was about 12 years old that I found out he had died three years before I was born! I cried like I had lost a dear friend that day. I'm 68 years old now and still loving him in Feb of 2024.
I remember being a very young girl sitting with my mom in the dark living room while she listened to Hank and cried and cried. She had to put my dad out when I was 3 months old for cheating again and again. They’re both gone. She would’ve be 96 6/13/24
That's my old friend, Jerry Rivers, to Hank's left on the fiddle. I worked with him in the late 1980's in Nashville. He was a great guy and funny as hell. Never will forget some of the stories he would tell about being on the road with Hank! RIP my friend.
That's awesome years ago in Maine at a blue grass show I met a man in the back ground were the camper were and he sang me a song .. that's said he was the. Back up singer? For hank Williams in the day wish I new his name now.. but my dad and my uncle loved blue grass I'm glade now I'm older I had a chance I listen to it then because country and blue grass is almost all I listen to now and it's good drinking music. 😆
Nashville didn't like him so he went to Louisiana at the Louisiana hayride. What Nashville had to learn was the people listening to his music they felt like he was singing about them. The same with Waylon Jennings.

Thank god he fucked hank 3s grand ma or we would have no hank 3!!! Hank 1 and 3 are all that matters Hank the 2nd is a shit father and a prolific wife and spouse abuser. Every time i hear these old recordings, it gives me cold chills. Hank Williams was the real deal , he could make you feel what he sang. So gifted.. and gone too soon.

"drifter can you make folks cry when you play and sing ,have you payed your dues can you moan the blues can you bend them gutair strings, boy can you make folks feel how you feel inside, cause if your big star bound let me warn you it's a long hard ride" The Ride by David Allen Coe,a tribute to Hank Williams
Music that really transcends time, Im a 25 year old man and i grew up with these songs cause my dad and grandpa would play them when we'd work, and they'd sing along we'd all have a little concert lol. Great memories with all these songs.
Pass that on brother. Not the music. The camaraderie. Have a son just so you can work with him. Otherwise you're family tradition is finished. This world won't let us good men have anything. Take that particular thing right there and make it yours and your sons. Teach him to do the same. This is the way
Hank Williams is an absolute legend of country music...He's wrote the best songs and today is an icon...Love his music, it'll always stand the test of time.
Look at the gentle ease how he switches from one chord to the next, there's art in that. What strikes me most is the raw simplicity and beauty of these songs, how they draw other musicians around him that is at the font of country music. Playing together like they used to as groups and communities with nothing to do with making money or exploitation.
What a Talented Family Hank Williams Sr.-Hell of a Songwriter. Right up there with Bob Dylan. Wonderful Story teller as well. You can hear the pain and even feel it when you hear him. Gives me chills Hank Williams Jr-A Really good Vocalist. A good song writer as well. And A very underrated Guitar Player. Jr. sure could pick a guitar
In those days, 40’s & 50’s, songs were cut as singles on Vinyl, front and back ! Cold, Cold Heart on front ! Your Cheatin Heart on back ! Both on top hits at the same time ! I was 15 when Hank Williams passed ! An ugly gray day ! And cold ! May GOD Bless his Precious Soul !
Whoever thought that screwing up the video with all that nonsense has no respect for history. This is one of only 3 known videos of hank...and the best quality.
I don't know if they ever was a singer any better than Hank Williams sr 🤔 maybe as good, but not any better than him 😉 A young man singing an old man songs 😮a man with a broken heart..didn't even live long enough for his heart to mend..some broken hearts 💕 never mend 😢😮praise God
Hello 👋 Catherine. How are you doing? Hope you're fine. I'm Zack Hudson and am from Denver Colorado. Where are you from? You seem like a real country girl
Hey, Zach. Nice of you to say hello. I'm actually not a country girl, but I was involved in the music industry for a long time and appreciate the best of every type of music. I was reminiscing about Jimmy Buffett's music after his very sad passing and decided to watch the video of Jimmy and his pals performing "Hey, Good Lookin'," which is 100% GREAT. From there, I saw that someone had uploaded some videos of Hank Williams' old performances. He will always be the king of country. @@zackhudson
I do believe that categorizing a person as a drug addict who needs medication to make it through the day, due to painful afflictions, is not a drug addict. If that be the case,I qualify as a drug addict because I take diabetes medication. With that said,I was raised up on Hank's music.A very unmistakeable voice that emitted from every doorway.
"Cold, Cold Heart" I tried so hard,my dear,to show that you're my every dream Yet you're afraid each thing I do is just some evil scheme A memory from your lonesome past keeps us so far apart Why can't I free your doubtful mind and melt your cold, cold heart? Another love before my time made your heart sad and blue And so my heart is paying now for things I didn't do In anger, unkind words are said that make the teardrops start Why can't I free your doubtful mind and melt your cold, cold heart? You'll never know how much it hurts to see you sit and cry You know you need and want my love, yet you're afraid to try Why do you run and hide from life, to try it just ain't smart Why can't I free your doubtful mind and melt your cold, cold heart? There was a time when I believed that you belonged to me But now I know your heart is shackled to a memory The more I learn to care for you, the more we drift apart Why can't I free your doubtful mind and melt your cold, cold heart?
When i was 7 i didn't felt i was just a kid listening to k-rose radio on PS2, when i was 17 i liked a bit, but now I'm 20 and i understand you perfectly, forever the greatest songwriter of all times, the best we ever had that man who made me pick up my first guitar i hope to make it to Alabama someday
As you get older the more you value the words, as he was right all along. A man in his 20's was right all along. Crazy isn't it? A man in his 20's spoke so much truth
Wanda my old dad introduced me to Hanks music and I loved it as much in 2022 as I did in the 60s when I first heard it,dad's not here now but he lives on in Hanks music, thank you Hank.
This old song my dad used to play and sing and taught me. Brings back so many childhood memories of my dad singing all kinds of old songs and I really miss him. So every once in a while I have to listen to these old songs by Hank. I am 62 now and still play and sing this to this day.

Oh my goodness what a beautiful and wonderful song and a great all time voice that nobody could ever ever top his talent gosh I love him forever and eternity 💗!!!
When I was very young my Dad and I would sit in the car on the driveway and listen to the Grand Ole Opery on the radio. Mama wasn't too crazy about this kind of music (poor thing). Night time was the only time we could pick up Nashville TN in San Antonio TX on the radio. I heard 'em all. What wonderful memories of the music and my Dad.
I love the slight raspiness of Jerry Rivers' fiddle, almost like he has a little too much rosin on his bow. It compliments Hanks voice, and the grittiness of many of his lyrics.
I agree with those commenters who say the best part of this video is Hank's singing. Could we just see Hank's performance without the scenery overlays? There are so few clips of Hank Williams' actually performing that I am mesmerized watching him.

Another love before my time made your heart sad and blue / And so my heart is paying now for things I didn't do. “Cold, Cold Heart,” Hank Williams, 1951
I lived those songs going up. At 62, I'm still living those ole songs. I'm having open heart surgery this week. And I hope they can take these chains from my heart once & forall. If not I'll see ya on the other side...
Many artists PERFORM Country Music. But two - the Carter Family and Hank Williams - DEFINED what Country Music IS. Every performer after them learned immensely from these iconic legends.
I was raised on this music. My mother's love for Hank Sr along with so many other country artists and Ken Burns recent biopic of country music brought me here. Just watched episode 3 "The Hillbilly Shakespeare". Watch it with a box of Kleenex. His music came from his heart.
Here is a direct quote from the Great Hiram King Williams speaking to a reporter (Mister, if a man has ever felt sorrow, anger, guilt, anguish or hurt you would know what my music is about. It's genuine). Bless you folks in Bama. R.I.P. Hank
I think probably the most profoundly beautiful song that I've ever heard!, but I don't understand the thumbs down?, you would have to have no heart or emotions to give this a thumbs down.
See we live in world that seems to be tryin to kill off things like this, tyna make it some kinda Disney world or something..and to me..that's a damn shame folks
I usually listen to blues, rock, jazz, etc. Not a big country music fan, but I LOVE Hank Williams! Transcends the genre with his heartfelt, beautiful singing💔💝
Hank was before his time,he innovated country music and set the bar high for others whom followed him.Hanks lyrics touched the hearts of his audience in a way that no other has since.
It boggles my mind how someone like Hank Williams got so popular, so fast and then doesn't even make it to 30 and he is basically a god of country music.
Hello have you heard about the old age survivor and insurance fund and grant funds This is specifically place for those who need assistance paying for bills, starting their own business, Or even helping raise their children with old and retired people and disable and Widowed.
The problem with being talented is that there is always hell to pay. the devil lives in hearts like his not because he was bad or wrong but because he loved and felt so deep that his sorrow came across with every note of every song.
Hank Sr. is the God of Country music. When ye rank the greats, ye start with Hank Sr. and set him aside. Then, ye do the rest however ye want to. But, if ye don't have Hank Sr. sitting atop the list, ye are working on some other kind of list.
