I can't wait to play all the way through and do a spoiler filled review if anyone's interested! I had an absolute hoot putting all this together. It was hard to cut it down to a reasonable size. The game is FUN, and I wanted to show it all to you, but trust me, I kept back plenty of nuggets for you to find yourself!

Hey! I liked this video too I was really waiting for a review for this game since I enjoy a lot your style of commenting, it reminds me of Banjo Kazooie or Mario 64, also Donkey Kong 64 as you mentioned, now I just have to decide where to play it haha looks very fun and I like the style, are you gonna try to get to 100% completion?

I'm not so much into 100% most of the time. I like to get the most out of MY experience with a game, and that might be more or less time than someone else needs. I'll definitely play all the way through but idk if I'll stress about everything (those time rift levels are hard!). I personally care more about the pieces of the story and the world building than each type of collectible or every secret. I'm glad you checked it out! I thought it was pretty hilarious when I exploded under an evil toilet haha.

What a great video! Camera clipping and object clipping are issues that developers have to contend with when designing on modern systems, in addition to limited object rendering distances or “draw distances”. I’ve seen all of these software challenges present as glitches or problems to the user and be referred to as “pop in”. It seems as though the developers of A Hat in Time chose to use a method of making the player character change into a dotted pattern (dithering?) when the playrer-character is in between the camera and an important object. I find all of that pretty fascinating and if anyone is interested in learning more about the science behind games like this one, I suggest checking out this video by the Unreal developers about camera culling techniques. Great review. You hit on a lot of good points. Thanks for putting the biggest issues up front too. This looks like a lot of fun. Very reminiscent of older style games. It looks really cute. I like it. Thanks for sharing!
