Poor girl, I want to give her a hug. She's a smart girl, who's disadvantaged from her parents' ongoing mistakes and stupidity. I hope she's well taken of, at least until she's 18.

You are a sweet person who was born into a very bad situation, I hope you are still doing good and staying strong, I was in a similar household when I was younger and got out of it, I am now 35 and have 2 kids and I do my best for them everyday. We can't choose our parents but we have full choice of not recreating that life as adults, wish you nothing but the best for the future 😊

Everyone has STUFF. There are those who will stay in their situation , then there are those who rise above it. You are one of the ones who will rise above it! I was in a very similar situation at your age. It gave me strength and courage to go to college and become a nurse. Years later I’m close to retirement , but everything that happened , I used it to talk and help others. Good luck to you! I see great things in ur future

Your story made me even more sure that I eventually want to foster/ adopt kids. I come from a bad home too and your story was quite moving. I love you. Take care

So the parents are pill addicts which causes her to get in trouble, but she is also put on pills but then faces punitive consequences when she has difficulty withdrawing from them. Despicable systematic problems here, aside from family problems.

Dear Hannah, now that I know you didn't want this posted, I apologize for watching. But I do believe this a very important story, way beyond the personal. Because you are one of many, a symptom of a system. But also because you are a true inspiration, doggedly moving on against incredible odds of emotional and physical obstacles. I'm not sorry for you, I admire you. Hoping you're still doing good! Ann

Sounds like Hannah should have gotten out of that town into a fresh new life. Living in a place where women are expected to take care of their husbands? In a place where a nurse is the best possible job for a woman? In a place where some people still have overt prejudices about people of color? I feel bad for the people of this town. They're 50 years behind the times.

Makes me sad.. I had a similar upbringing.. I decided a long time ago not to be like them.. I know that's rare.. but.. it does happen. Not every child is a statistic.

Shawnne I Quick 👌same here, we don't have to recreate what we have seen growing up, I also had a similar upbringing and work hard to not do to my kids what has been done to me. Stay strong 🙂

Exactly. One of the choices I made was to not be like them and even when I was younger I did things that I knew would led me to a better future. I would try my best in school, took hard classes in high school, got accepted into a college hours from my hometown so I’d have to move out of my parent’s house!

That’s exactly where most of my entire family lives, between Memphis and Nashville. Every time I go out there I see the affect of drugs on everyone and everywhere. It’s an epidemic and it’s destroying us.

That cousins wife really had no expectations for Hannah at all. Saying she hopes she waits to get pregnant and to not wait tables. That's sad that that's all the can see for Hannah. Plus she's racist 🙄 Those people at the school are such good people. They really want what's best for them kids. I pray they keep up the good fight. Them kids need a cheerleader!

Sadly so much lack of knowledge and connection to the times. Family is the root of every social problem we have today. I pray for these children caught in the wreckage.

I think she isn't addicted to drugs. I think she has no morals because she hasn't seen any great examples at home, she thinks the way to "grow up" is to take drugs. In her mind that would make her an adult and grow from the shadow of her upbringing.

your right i have never done drugs and i never plan too. the only drug i will ever take is something the doctor gives me. just because my parents did it does not mean im going to......
