And yeah, encephalitis is very treatable. The longer it goes on, the more brain damage you'll have. Epilepsy causes brain damage with every seizure for example, albeit small, but the damage can compound. So it's pretty risky to just play with someone's abilty to function. Mads Mikkelsen is very good. He flicks his eyes once and you can just tell he's SUPER pissed off, or he twitches the corner of his mouth, or so many tiny little face twitches, and he is very good at it. I wonder how Jack thinks he can be bedrock for Will. Like, genuinely. What is he going to do? Hannibal: I hope she doesn't remember much. Because it's such a pain to kill witnesses after the fact.
I think it’s so funny when Will is sitting in Hannibal’s chair and Hannibal is just tidying around him. It’s something H would consider rude but he makes exceptions for Will. 😏
I don't know any fans of this show that AREN'T on board with Hannibal's "extreme bi/pansexuality" lol. The tension with him and Will is super clear, his whole dynamic with Tobias is romantically coded (they have a dinner date ffs), and there's even other little things, like that doctor who implied Hannibal might be lying about not having "an infection" (the one that Hannibal kills later as part of his murder montage), which might be a reference to HIV and the doctor basically making assumptions about men who have sex with other men. In any case, point is, I'm pretty sure you're "picking up on" everything exactly the way you're supposed to 😅 In regards to this episode, my personal theory is that Hannibal and the neurologist were "friends with benefits" back in med school or something, and that Hannibal knew he was the sort of person who didn't really have a lot of morals and how to exploit that (hell, maybe Hannibal is just that good in bed, and that helped influence the doctor's decision to go along with this lmao).
Did you also see, when Will took the deep breath at the ladder, Hannibal did too at the same time. A very erotic and beautiful scene imo. And the doctor, who don't tell Will the truth about his illness, is just a very obsessed scientist. Remember, he said, that encephalitis is not yet fully researched. And i think, Hannibal don't tell Will the truth, because he can manipulate and control Will better with his illness. And after the episode with the contrabass killer, we know, that Hannibal would never kill Will. If you remember, how relieved Hannibal was after the fight, when the police comes into his office and then he sees Will alive.
If you go back as to the core reasons behind Hannibal's interest in Will, it doesn't really serve that interest if Will stops doing his work and experiencing these killers mentalities. It's also for that interest that Hannibal covers up what is physically wrong with Will in order to further push the belief this is all just part of Will's psyche. The only genuine reason Hannibal ever pushes against the work is to put distance between Will and Jack.
