You didn't understand what happened. RYO, ROBERT GARCIA AND KIM HAD 3RD LEVELS that could fuck you up from a full screen so they had to tone them down..
This game is what got me interested in SNK characters and King of Fighters, the SNK characters were far cooler and more fun to play as than the Capcom guys even though I played alot of Street Fighter by then.
Christopher Salinas same here man. I was never really much of a capcom person until I played this game. It got me into both capcom and snk. But for some reason, I wanna say that I love snk and their fighting games and even characters a little more than capcom. I've been playing mostly snk fighters like kof, ff, and samsho after playing cvs2.
I still say if the kof series was wide released on ps1, ps2 during thier prime, snk would be in a very different place right now. If 98 dm and 2002 um had been available snk would be a mainstream developer.
@@nicholascropper268 Man the SNK side characters had better personality, cooler looking moves and were more fun to play as. I ain't talking about how high up the tiers they are or the fighting mechanics of each groove. I ain't no damn pro fighting player to care about all that.
Recently got into the SNK franchises and am going in order and holy fuck I can barely handle Mr. Big in AoF 1. Can't even beat Mr. Karate after an hour of trying
@@Jeffmetal42 Wow! I really had no idea they we're still on bad terms. I don't remember the full story of their fallout all to well. It does really suck that we probably won't ever see that happen. 🤔 Well then again, almost anything is possible nowadays.
@@Original_Katros the bad blood came to a boil when SvC Chaos was released. It cost SNK a lot of money to make, and they already were iffy financially, apparently Capcom screwed SNK and didn't pay them their fair share of what was agreed on. Shortly after that SNK went bankrupt and I'm sure the money Cap didn't get to them, probably would have helped a bit in not going bankrupt again.
@@Original_Katros it's a really messy story. If I remember correctly, even during the dev of CvS1 and 2, SNK was being screwed by Capcom for their share of the royalties.
I think Capcom had a part in that, not necessarily their fault cause SNK was always in financial trouble, but Capcom screwed SNK on their royalty cut from SvC Chaos. That's why there is bad blood between the two companies, which will likely make seeing any new ports of these games, not happen.
This game in particular was sick. I loved it so much more than any other fighting game at the time, aside from Soul Calibur 2. Just fantastic. MvC2 was fun but it was a completely different game from what I was looking for.
20 years later and imo it's still the best crossover fighting game. A dream bout for me was always King Vs Vega and both Capcom vs SNK games made that happen.
I enjoy SvC Chaos more than CvS2 only because SNK did an amazing job with the sprites in that game. Outside of Guile's hair, the SNK renderings of Cap characters was the best they ever looked imo. The Balrog sprite is soooooo good. He moves like an actual boxer does.
I love both but still like cvs2 the most. I also really enjoy cvs1. Still need to try out my Xbox copy of svc chaos that I've gotten recently. Idk but I think svc chaos and cvs1 are so underrated.
See, this game is why I had the feeling that Hibiki would be the character from Last Blade that SamSho had as a guest when they announced a Last Blade character would be joining. The only other game a Last Blade character was in was in NeoGeo Battle Coliseum and that was not played NEAR as much as this game outside of hardcore NeoGeo fans..Hibiki on the other hand is in this game..which is still very popular and so she has a wider group of people that she could draw into SamSho as a guest.
I've never played this game, but I'm reeling at the mental picture of Haohmaru rolling up to the match with a big swinging sword and all the hand-to-handers going "...Ok..."
I have noticed a while ago that the final Osaka stages, the arena, the rooftop thunderstorm & the burning city are all similar scenes to the final battle scene in the Disney movie The Lion King: 1. Dark clouds 2. Thunderstorm 3. A fire that engulfs the area
My team was Haomaru, Hibiki always but the third one I constantly switch, with C-groove bar customized to be able to do combos ala MvsC. Love the crap out of this game playing for hours & hours to almost midnight on Friday & Saturday with my bro & all ours friends. The losers pass the controller... good old days that will never return.
I remember not having a clue who any of the SNK characters were, and mostly bought it because of the Capcom roster. And even though I was completely ignorant of the SNK cast, history and lore, I quickly grew to love these somewhat oddly stanced but incredibly stylish looking characters. Ended up getting into the KoF, AoF and FF series of games recently. I do miss special intros between characters in 3D fighting games. They were always a unique surprise when playing vs or arcade modes
I like that Max chooses N-Groove the most as it is my favorite Groove too. I remembered when this game were in the arcades in Montreal during the early 2000s, most players went for C & A Grooves. I barely saw anyone playing N-Groove.
If I'm right then this is the U.S.-based Arcade system. And that's the best system to play this game on. These videos look 10 times better than the other ones out there for this fact alone. Less pixelation and the game just looks a lot cleaner. And also, a pretty solid game style to add to it. Rare to see someone with great P-Groove skills out there.
My all time favourite fighting game. Between what got me into the FGC, Tekken 3 and then many, many, many hours mashing as a child playing this. I miss this game

Never learned A-Groove? Gonna guess that you weren't big on using Vism in Street Fighter ZERO3/Alpha3...they're pretty much the same thing. Then again, C Groove is effectively Zism/Aism, & K Groove is Xism aka Super Street Fighter II X/Turbo. (Meanwhile, S Groove is King of Fighters 95-96, N Groove is KoF97-98, and K Groove seems to be Shin Samurai Spirits/Samurai Shodown II.) Also, it looks like despite your Ken, you're like galaxies better with Ryu.
What platform are u playing on? Watching this makes me want to breakout the ps3 and play but I dont think the servers are still active for it on the ps3 😭😭😭😭
I think you can still download it for another year or two, would have to check Playstation's word. The game does not have online play though. I believe he is using a Dreamcast emulator the name is escaping me ATM, DC bear?
Sup Max... I normally don't comment here, but I'm a big fan of your channel, videos, content, news and your really really honest reviews... so 1st of all, Thank You for that. My quick question is about an incredible interest of a possible Capcom vs SNK 3 for the new gen consoles? Do you think it will be brought back? If they do, I believe Marvel vs Capcom is gonna have a hell of a tough time to top it. That's if they do it like I've played it in my mind 🤷🏼♂️
Makes me appreciate how great CvS 2 was but also glad a part 3 didn't happen. Especially since they were gonna go with 3D graphics and during the PS2 era where 2.5D fighters were still underlooked. Now with today's tech it can happen and I know damn well SNK would be on board with this. A new CvS could happen before a new Marvel vs Capcom.
Today, I was able to beat the game using only Haohmaru, knowing exactly 2 specials, one of them being a super. What you have to do is have a good notion of the relation between L, M and H attacks, and use the K-groove. This trick is commonly used by players, and I like to call it "the Samurai of Death".
Capcom vs Snk 2 is so Amazing game ...i played the hell out of this game ...why they never made CvsS 3 happened? I will never understand that! I love this game

Im really waiting for this to come out for the current gen as a download or something, CvS2 is probably the best fighting ive ever played and would love to get back into it. Rock, Guile, Ken squad all day
