The opening phrase is 556587 starting on the 5th of the tonic chord and ending on the 3rd of the dominant chord. It does use the I-IV-V chords. Most melodies end on the tonic chord and tonic note. Check out my video on ear training for beginners for better understanding.

But I have played Garner concepts on certain tunes and I enjoy that style. If you want to know who did the best "imitation" of Garner ...check out George Shearing...also one of my favorites. So I will put your suggestion on the list.

You know that joy you get when you discover a new concept, or little devices/subs etc which will have a long lasting impact on your development.
