I have been going to Hartshill Hayes from when I was a sprog myself, myself along with the same mates that played footie together, swam in the Wem Brook together, went Fishing together, but most importantly, cycled everywhere as a group who liked to explore. Alongside Coombe Abbey, the Hayes offered lots of trails to explore, wildlife to try and see / hear, and for the really brave amongst us, would even camp in The Hayes! (I was never THAT brave!
It's a truly astounding place to visit, no-matter the season (my faves were Autumn / Winter) Each season is just eye-candy (not a term we used back then!) We just loved exploring the many trails, probably most coluorful in late Autumn, the sheer size was never lost on me, i had no idea it covers some 137 acres, the only thing we knew was there was lots of hidy-holes to explore.
It's a truly amazing space. Don't leave it too long before you visit.
