Cameron Diaz presenting George Miller with the Oscar® for Best Animated Feature for "Happy Feet" at the 79th Academy Awards® in 2007. Hosted by Ellen DeGeneres.
Lightning McQueen: We didn't win.... Mater: Yeah... What a shame.... Lghtning McQueen: (smiles) But we didn't have too. We're nominees. That's what matters. Mater: (smiles) Just like in the race, buddy.
I liked Cars, Happy Feet and Monster House equally overall. I actually didn't see Happy Feet until after the Oscars. Well deserved win and Happy 10th anniversary. RIP to Robin Williams and Prince
I remember this telecast because Scorsese won Best Director, but only now am I realizing the significance of George Miller winning this Oscar, even if it was for a different category. Two filmmaking legends winning two Oscars on the same night!
This movie was actually motion captured which is not considered an animation category, but Pixar was so mad because of Cars’s loss, that in Ratatouille, in the end credits, there is a coupon saying 100% non-motion captured.
Yeah Cars should’ve won the Oscar because Cars is part of my childhood it’s one of my favorite animated film I ever watched. Over the Hedge and Flushed away couldn’t been also nominated to the Oscar which both of the Dreamworks got good movies in 2006
Cars is one of my favourite animated movies that came out way back in 2006 it is one of the best animated movies of 2006 and I wish I want it to win instead of happy feet
George Miller is a legend in my opinion. He created the Mad Max franchise, and after winning an Oscar for a cgi family film, came back to make one of the greatest action films of all time, Mad Max Fury Road. This guy deserves all the credit in the world.
And George deserves some credit for Happy Feet. The beginning of the movie was spot on beautiful. And the tap dancing sequences are amazing! He is a mastermind and George Miller is definitely a legend! ❤❤❤
There are 6 animated characters that appeared in the audiences: 1. Lighting McQueen (Cars) 2. Tow Mater (Cars) 3. Mumble (Happy Feet) 4. D.J. Walters (Monster House) 5. Jenny Bennett (Monster House) 6. & Charles "Chowder" (Monster House). It's nice to see some animated characters in the Academy Awards.
@Pablo Pumpkin's Manga Club and THOMAS THE TANK 1.Thomas 2.Henry 3.Gordon 4.James I was originally going for percy for the 2nd spot but I chose henry instead
I hope so. Mad Max: Fury Road is considered to be one of the best action movies of all time. Fury Road is better than Mad Max: The Road Warrior. Audience did says its a cinamtic landmark. I hope George Miller gets an Oscar for Best Director.
Happy Feet is a one-of-a-kind motion picture experience. George Miller continues to paint outside the lines of traditional filmmaking, and his genius expands upon the animated art form to illuminate a world where penguins embrace dance and differences to survive and thrive. But that is just the tip of the iceberg, as the environment, religion and the chasm between generations enrich this sweet and subtle tale: one that is fun and funny, brilliant and beautiful, groundbreaking and global in its message.
@@traydaniel0403 You're the baby, literally you're forcing everyone to like the fact Happy Feet won and you even yelled to me about that fact, people are allowed to think Cars was snubbed and please respect that.
I don’t care what anyone else says. I love Cars too, but Happy Feet deserved it more. I’m glad it won the Oscars for Best Animated Feature Film of 2006
Over the hedge and flushed away deserved it more tbh. In fact looking at the 2006 lineup makes me feel they should’ve cancelled the awards for animated features because holy shit
@@inaraaldridge9005 Yeah. There’s a rumor saying that Happy Feet’s win resulted in motion-capture films being banned from being nominated for future Best Animated Feature awards. Serves them right.
The music and the dance bring out the yearning we've all had to move the body in sync with the rhythms of the earth. The grand finale of Mumble's quest brings him into an encounter with the world of humans and a connection that justifies all his struggles to remain faithful to his true self. The ecological crisis captured in the story of the disappearing fish is finally addressed with an inspiring message that couldn't be more timely: we have so much more in common with the whole Creation than we know, and our survival (and theirs) depends upon our celebrating that deep truth.
Sadly, George Miller did not win the Oscar for directing Mad Max: Fury Road, but I heard on a video (I don't know if it's REALLY official) a Mad Max: Fury Road sequel, Furiosa, is set to release in 2024! Let's hope that will happen and Miller will recieve the Oscar for directing it! 🙏
If the Oscars made voice acting categories for male and female (Voice acting deserves this kind of recognition), this year’s nominees would have been: Male voice acting: Steve Buscemi in Monster House (WINNER) Larry the Cable Guy in Cars Paul Newman in Cars Robin Williams in Happy Feet Steve Carell in Over the Hedge Female Voice Acting: Maggie Gyllenhaal in Monster House Bonnie Hunt in Cars Wanda Sykes in Over the Hedge (WINNER) Brittany Murphy in Happy Feet Kate Winslet in Flushed Away
That is a really good list, here is mine: Male: Steve Buscemi in Monster House Robin Williams in Happy Feet (Winner) Owen Wilson in Cars Hugh Jackman in Flushed Away Andy Serkis in Flushed Away Female: Bonnie Hunt in Cars Brittany Murphy in Happy Feet Nicole Kidman in Happy Feet Kate Winslet in Flushed Away (Winner) Wanda Sykes in Over the Hedge
Happy Feet is a hideously animated and highly overrated representation of the WORST Computer Animation has to offer. Most undeserving Oscar ever. PERIOD. DOT.
Joined by his Adelie amigos and an all-knowing Rockhopper penguin named Lovelace, Mumble embarks on an epic journey and ultimately proves that by being true to yourself, you can make all the difference in the world!
I love Happy Feet! It's such a brilliant film. I also wish ICE AGE The Meltdown was at least nominated. It's my favorite film. But Happy Feet is definitely more suited for the Oscars.
Don’t care what you haters thinks. I love Cars too, and I think it’s also a great movie too, but I think, in my opinions, hands down, Happy Feet 💯% deserves it more too. It was magnificent!
Cars - Walt Disney And Pixar Animation Studios Happy Feet - Warner Bros Monster House - Imagemovers Over The Hedge - DreamWorks Open Season - Sony Pictures Animation
Best Animated Feature Film Cars (nominee) John Lasseter (director) Walt Disney Pictures PIXAR Animation Studios Happy Feet (winner) George Miller (director) Warner Bros. Entertainment Village Roadshow Pictures Animal Logic Monster House (nominee) Gil Kenan (director) Columbia Pictures ImageMovers Amblin Entertainment Sony Pictures Imageworks
I’m not sure if anyone would agree with me but my list for 2006 would’ve been 1. Cars 2. Curious George (Which actually should’ve been nominated simply because Universal Pictures was always snubbed at the nominations before Despicable Me) 3. Happy Feet 4. Open Season 5. Flushed Away 6. Over the Hedge 7. The Ant Bully 8. The Girl Who Leapt Through Time 9. Ice Age: The Meltdown 10. Everyone’s Hero 11. Barnyard 12. Monster House Winner would’ve been probably either been Flushed Away, The Girl who Leapt Through Time or Happy Feet BTW: The Girl who Leapt Through Time is a beautiful Japanese animated film based on the 1967 novel of the same name. It was produced by the Japanese animation studio, Madhouse Inc and was directed by Mamoru Hosoda and released in Japan on July 15, 2006. Despite receiving very positive reviews and even winning numerous nominations including The Japan Academy Prize for Animation of the Year, It was NOT submitted to The Academy for Best Animated Feature at all (This is most likely due to it not having a Los Angeles theatrical release in 2006.) If this animated film had been submitted there would’ve definitely been 5 nominees for 2006.
A+ list, I love it, I agree, either Flushed Away, The Girl who Leapt Through Time, or Happy Feet would've won the Oscar. But still, Happy Feet deserved the Oscar
@@moviehero1384Since there was only 3 films nominated, they could have added five. I have to agree that they could have added Curious George and Flushed Away. They are good films.
Actually, none of these films should have even been nominated for an Oscar. They were just out of animated films that year and they had to nominate something in this category.
No offense to the Fans of Happy Feet, But You know to be honest I was rooting for Cars because it had a great story and I love Owen Wilson as Lighting McQueen. But Cars did win a Golden Globe so that’s good for them who made Pixar and I am actually Pixar fan because I grew up watching Toy story, Monsters Inc, Finding Nemo and The Incredibles and Ratatouille and other animated films as I grew up watching.
@Montravius Daniel Yes it was. Lightning McQueen is an asshole who we have to root for but it's hard to. The comedy is bland and the characters are forgettable. Worst PIXAR MOVIE EVERR THAT AND CARS 2 AND 3. I would rather see paint dry.
Actually, Cars 3 was directed by another director who gave stakes to the mid-life struggle in racing veterans. I'm going to be honest, the Cars movies are overhated (despite, not being a fan of Cars 2) and Shrek 2 is overrated.
when I was a kiddo and i saw this on tv I cried for mater bc i felt awful for him and when my family asked what was wrong I told them my stomach was hurting
I Agree with the RU-vid-Viewers of the Fans of the Oscar-Winner-Award Television Series on RU-vid, This Happy Feet The Animated Movie Really is the Best Winner Movie Ever Just Like Disney Pixar Coco The Movie That We Love So Much! :-D
Edit: 65% cars should've won and happy feet is garbage 10% monster house should have won 15% happy feet deserves it 5% Mad Max Fury Road 5% other such as over the hedge and flushed away
Just rewatched Happy Feet, and I gotta say...it deserved to win Edit: Since the writing of this comment, I rewatched Happy Feet and Monster House. While I think Monster House is a better movie, Happy Feet does have more appealing animation, so good for them.
And then we see Mad Max: Fury Road win 6 Oscars this year... George Miller shouldn't be doing animated movies but awesome action films! Well Done George Miller!
If they changed the rule that motion capture animated movies can't be nominated, how come they haven't revoked Happy Feet's Oscar and gave it to Cars instead. Cars was easily the best animated film that year.
2006 another great year monster house may have unsettling animation but was a creative horror film for kids and definetely better than most horror film today cars is a staple of our generation, and always will be happy feet is wonderful.
I LOOOOOOOOVVVVE OVER THE HEDGE WHAT A MASTERPIECE THAT MOVIE WAS FLUSHED AWAY WAS REALLY HILARIOUS I WISH THESE BOTH MOVIES WERE NOMINATED AND IM A DREAMWORKS FANBOY
Cars 1 and 3 are amazing CARS 2 is awful because it should have been rated PG because it has Explosions, violences, gun shooting, action sequences, and deaths and also CARS 3 should have been nominated at the Oscars and also we need a CARS 4, LIGHTING MCQUEEN ORIGIN STORY, and CRUISE TV SERIES
