I have had really good luck reviving scratchy or dry gel pens by removing the end cap and adding a few drops of water using a pippette. I then let them sit for 24 hours before using. When I say good luck, I mean an 80% or 90% success rate. It is often easier to do this than to return them or call customer support. Also, I seem to do better with 1 MM ball points than the .08 MM. Most of the dry, scratchy pens have those tiny points.

I'll usually hold the ball tip just a millimeter away from a flame, then scribble, then repeat. Sometimes you can also run the nib under hot water and scribble, then repeat. The heat seems to loosen up any gel that dries around the ball, and that's what makes them get "stuck" like that.

I received these exact pens for Christmas! (Santa was good to me :) ) I have had no problem with skipping but I did let them lay on their sides(in the box) for a few days after Christmas! I am using them to color a worship coloring page on New Years Eve. I like them a lot. Beautiful colors! Erin , I love your vids!

Thank you so very much, Elena!!! These pens are WONDERFUL. I love that they have unique color names and numbers, and none of them have skipped on me yet. I did manage to get them all put inside a case so they're stored horizontally, and it makes them easier to find. I do still need to swatch them out, and I think I might do that this evening while I'm watching some TV. Haha. Glad you're loving the videos, and I'll bet your picture turns out beautiful!

Oh my goodness! What a lovely set of gel pens! And the variety of colors is making me dizzy! When you turned the case over so we had a full colorful view, it took my breath away!

I have those and I've been very happy with them there was a few pens that did not work but they replace them for me good customer service

I love gel pens for certain things. They do take a while to dry but the work you can do is so pretty. Love the metallic ones.

Some dry faster than others. I really should check these; the Caliart ones are gorgeous but they take AGES to dry.

The Artist Loft ones take forever to dry as well. You might want to test that so you don't smudge your pages. I had that happen with me. LOL

I wish I saw these before I wrote my Christmas wish list. I know my sister in law did her shopping already. Naturally I will be VERY HAPPY with whatever I receive - I asked for Color It gel pens - 48 with 48 refills in a nice case. I picked them because the case is nice to have, and they are each labeled with a color name, and a number so you know what refill goes where. They are about $10 more than this set. Like I said I will be very happy with whatever I receive - this set is just such a great deal. The Color It brand gets very good reviews. Thanks for sharing so now I know there are even more pens out there for me to think about LOL!

Laura Seiden I have the Color It Glitter gel pens on my wishlist too. It's so hard to decide which brand to get because there are so many. I only really use the glitter ones.

Nightfeare Glitter are the best. I like to use them to add just little touches here and there in my coloring books.

Hi all I don't know if you ever got the colorit gel pens the 48? I do have them and they are the very first gel pen set I ever got and because I got them it came with a postcard size mandala that is when I was introduced to adult coloring and when I sat and colored that mandala I got hooked. It's been a month since I've been coloring because I was introduced with gel pens I had no idea how to color other wise so I bought another set of all glitter 100 by reason and I bought some bull crap pencils by lokks set of 36 I clearly did not know what I was doing when I ordered those things because now that I've learnt a little bit about adult coloring I want those nice pencils that come in the tin the one's Erin uses and I want the colorit watercolor pens and markers. Now I don't have the money because I've wasted it on those 100 gel pens by reaeon and those stupid pencils. Color it's gel pens are the best in all areas. Hope you got them.

Nice. I have gone through a few brands of gel pens. It seems like the Pastels never work right, and the neons. I like the Glitters and Metallics anyway, but they load you down with pastels and neons that don't work!!

hi Erin! thanx for showing us these great pens! so do u think they are good for the price?? and since i am a newbie, what is the blue mat u have on ur desk there? do u color straight on the mat?? also, what weight cardstock do u use for colored pencil color charts and what weight for pencil pictures to print and color on??? thanx for all you do!! btw, when u color with gel pens do you mix brands/sets??? since this one only has a few standard colors in it ???? ty soo very much! Merry Christmas!!!

Just a note that gelly rolls specifically say store horizontal or tips up definitely not tips down so I think the way you store them is brand dependent.

Thanks for the info! I just store all mine horizontal with the exception of the super-cheapies. They just sit in a basket upright.

From the Sakura website: Gelly Roll can be stored horizontally or vertically because of the properties of gel ink. But if you store vertically, just be sure that you don’t drop them into whatever pen holder (like a pencil cup) you’re using. Jarring the pen (i.e. dropping into a cup) can cause air bubbles to form in the gel which will disrupt the ink flow. I have owned my Gelly Rolls for over a year and store them upright. I have never had a failure or dried out pen. I suppose YMMV.

I think when Sakura says vertical, they mean tip-up, much like you'd store any other pen. It's tip DOWN that you're not supposed to use for those specific pens. I'm not sure why. I do know I don't store my InkJoy pens tip down anymore. I had them leak. Eep!

Gosh I wish my pens had names or numbers on them. I got a really great deal on some on black friday and they work great but they do not have any kind of marking on them. I guess I'm going to have to draw some numbers on them with a sharpie or something.

That's what I would do... or wrap the ends in masking tape and write on that. It works and I've done it with pencils. :)

Have you tried Elite art gel pens or Super doodle gel pens? There great gel pens love them. There both on Amazon. I'm new to your to your channel just found you:). If you ever want some great pen you should try them.

Yay! Welcome to the channel! I'm happy you're here and enjoying the videos. I have this set and then a set of Caliart gel pens, and I have refills for the Officethink ones. I'm pretty set as far as gel pens go for a while, but if I decide to make a switch, I will keep those brands in mind.

How “juicy” are they?

Not as juicy as some others. I think the no-name set at Walmart are the juiciest ones I've tried. Caliart gel pens are pretty juicy, too. These weren't dry by any means, but they put the ink down, for sure.
