Ivy and the Inky Butterfly w/Pablo | Color and Chat

This is a bit all over the place since it was an impromptu recording, but I've decided to challenge myself to finish a brand-new copy of Ivy and the Inky Butterfly by Christmas-ish 2021. Join me as I color most of the nameplate, talk about nothing in particular, and wonder what on earth I'm doing.
Please be sure to comment with your suggestions for the butterfly colors, too! They'll be consistent throughout the book, so I need something good! HELP!

I vote for purple, pink and green on the butterfly. Dark purple with red undertone, mid tone pink and bright light green. That will tie in the purples and greens in the flowers and pink to set it off as the focal point. Just my thoughts. It's absolutely beautiful!

I suggest Purple, yellow, and pink for the butterfly...blends of dark to light...even though the spaces are small, you can use at least 2bshades. Or you can use blues, yellow, and pink.... purples, blues, and pink For a more neutral look, mute the colors with Greys. So had to choose....what about leaving the butterflies until the end and coloring them once you see the combinations you used throughout the book?

Put as much of the Ivy book on videos as you please. If I color along with you, I’d have a chance of finishing the Ivy book as well. Welcome back. I’d given up on you and hadn’t looked in lately because whenever I check on your channel: , bupkis. With such a shock I did finally look in to find you have been making videos since May? Yay!

I always love a good swatch. Haha. I would like to see them swatches. I have a set of these pencils but seldom use them since I got Prismacolors. . Good to see you again. Here at 4 AM I couldn’t find anyone to color with. Haha.

I think some bronze and or copper and some orange colors would be nice. I see a lot of those colors in butterflies and I love them

It is so awesome that you are back and making videos again Erin!! I hope you and your family are all doing well. I am planning to get these pencils this year. My besties all have them and rave about how much they love them. I do have the supracolours and I've been playing around with those dry too but I want the Pablo's lol

I have both the Supracolor and the Albrecht Durer on my wishlist. Hopefully one or the other will be my next high-quality set. I've finally gotten to where I can have some fun with my small set of Inktense. :D

Maybe a really soft yellow with dark purple ??? For the butterfly....I am a newbie. And still learning...lovely !

Love the yellow and purple idea! Going to wait for some other suggestions and see if I get any. I figure if I color a page in all pinks and keep the butterfly the only thing that's a different color, that's okay because the butterfly *is* the star of the show. :D Thank you!!

More like underrated. Remember, the Luminance and Holbein cost more and you constantly see people use those (at least I do, although not as often as Polychromos and especially Prismacolor).

The butterfly inky butterfly!!! Indigo blue.. purple yellow! I am a newbie to I am learning as well I would love to color my inky butterfly book with you. When did you start it ? How far would I be behind if I started as well. I would love to do it for my granddaughter she is two years old. I’d love to hear you talk your voice is very soothing. went through a lot of channels could not handle voices yours was perfect...

Wow you color so fast and so beautifully, love watching you color! I would love to see you swatch these pencils, I do enjoy those videos :) I would go with warm colors for the butterfly I think it would be a nice contrast! Maybe some reds 🤷🏻‍♀️ take care and see you next time !

Hi! I am so thankful 8 found your podcast. You are so down to earth and just say things like they are. I am looking forward to watching you working on this book and I will definitely be getting the book as well. I have 3 of Johanna 's books and one more in my Amazon cart. I might add this book as well. As far as the butterfly goes...I'm a purple/pink person also so I would use those and possibly add gold too. Take care and may God bless you always.

You could do the butterfly like a moth with earthy colors and an accent color of choice. Maybe. And I would love to see the Pablo's swatched.

Well hello Erin! A TREAT! Have been looking @ Pablos. And YES PLS, wld love to see U swatch Pablos! I assume ideally one wld acquire the largest set? / I started w/ 12 set Polychromos. That’s a very nice set, perfect for learning that pencil. But now that I’ve got more experience, we’ll those Pablos! / Nearly complete in a mandala - colors are greens, turquoise & blues. A lot like your beautiful leaves here. TY for this video. Yippee! Butterflies - pinks w/ yellows, 1 purple. 🐶🤓

I'd say start with an open stock trio in your favorite colors. If you find yourself reaching for those pencils when you want those colors, then there's a good chance it will be a good investment for you. Thanks so much!

Oh, finally someone who has Pablos. Please could you tell me if Pablos like then paper in Ivy and Inky? They are a kind of pencil that just wouldn't work on insipid paper, and I'm trying to work out which colouring books I should get to enjoy colouring with Pablos in them.

As I continue to watch you, Inky's name makes me think of the color blue. How about shades of blue for Inky?

I am glad to see you back, Erin. I am curious how you think the Pablos compare to FC Polychromos? Are they similar in feel, and are the colors quite the same between the two lines? I am always looking for new greens to supplement my Polychromos set, and it looks like the Pablos have some unique greens, but it is always a little hard to tell on camera. Thank you !

I think they're completely different. Pablos are oily, but they're also softer than Polychromos, and the colors are not the same. If I remember I can compare the swatches on a video soon.

Hi Erin, great to see you again! I'm so pleased you've decided to try and complete Ivy and the Inky Butterfly, I'm doing the same with my second copy! Do you want to do a buddy colour?! The butterfly that I'm doing is a dark blue indigo body and then the wings are purple fading into orange and then yellow - I could email you a picture if you want? I found it so hard picking the colour for it because I wanted it to be perfect, so you are not alone! I love them. They're my favorite pencils of all time, even favorite over the Prismacolor. If Polychromos and Prismacolor had a baby, it would be Pablos. They're right smack in the middle.

Hmmm...I have always been partial to aqua type colors going into a darker blue like Indigo or purple....but... don’t know if you have those colors in this set.

Controversial as in... ? I wasn't aware they were controversial at all! I know people argue over the wax/oil, particularly since Caran D'Ache has said all their products are wax, but I'm 99.9% certain there's oil in there. That's the only "controversy" I know of, but feel free to fill me in!

Simple Art for Adults there’s a lot of people who love them and other complain that they’re really scratchy and hard colour with Claire has a review on them and she didn’t like it
