My sweet mom is in a Nursing Home with damentia. She has forgotten her grandchildren and her friends but I'm always there with her so by the grace of God she hasn't forgotten me. This reminded me of her so much. Watching Amber fighting back the tears had me balling my eyes out. This was so special. Happy Mother's Day to you sweet girl

J & Amber, you'll love their "Could It Be I'm Falling in Love", "One of a Kind (Love Affair)", "Games People Play" and more!!!! They are a reason 70s music was amazing!! Several members sang lead vocals in this group. Most of their commercial success came after they moved from Motown to Atlantic Records in 1972. edit- Philippe Wynn on lead vocals(his Mom's name was Annie). The song was written and produced by Joseph B. Jefferson, Bruce Hawes and Charles Simmons. Who Sadie was, is a mystery to me!

I grew up on The Spinners. They are wonderful. As it happens they are in the class of 2023 inductees into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Finally! Love this song,, but it's become difficult for me to listen to without getting emotional since I lost my mother (going on six years ago). I definitely feel blessed to have been raised by such an amazing loving woman and every day I miss her and wish she was still with me. This song really embodies the love for a mother that you've lost.

True Story. Sadie was written by Bruce Hawes, Joe Jefferson, and Charlie Simmons. The Spinners of course recorded the song, The Spinners at the time were Philippe Wynne (lead), Henry Fambrough (last surviving original member), Bobbie Smith,, Billy Henderson, and Pervis Jackson. The song was on their New And Improved Album and the late great Thom Bell produced the song as well as the album. As they were recording the song, EVERYONE was overcome with emotion. Philippe himself when he got to the line "Although my momma's no longer here....her memory still lingers near...." he himself is crying and you can hear it on the track because when he says "Let me run, let me run, let me go" that is his signal to the producer to keep the track going so he can keep singing. Needless to say by the time the track was done everyone was in tears. This song is a masterpiece.

I grew up across the street from a woman like Sadie. She spent her working life cleaning rooms in a hospital, but her children,grandchildren, and great grandchildren, except for one football star, were doctors, lawyers, and educators. She didn't tolerate fools, but her heart was full of love for her neighbors and family.It's been sixty years, but I still remember her, and wish I could spend an afternoon talking to her.

Philippe Wynne is the leader on this song. His mother abandoned their family and he and his siblings grew up in a orphanage. It was so hard for him knowing that both of his parents were alive, yet he was in an orphanage. But you would think he grew up with a perfect mother when you listen to this.

I lost my mother a litte over five years ago and I swear no matter how old you get you still need her advice because mothers are always right. Beautiful song. My mum passed 5 years ago and tomorrow would have been her 100 th 🎂!!! We will visit her tomorrow and take tea and birdseed lol... She was British and loved her tea! She would sit and watch the birds at her feeding stations in her yard. She passed 5 years ago but I love visiting her as she was laid to rest in a beautiful mountain top cemetery ! She was 96 and passed peacefully. Thank you for the beautiful song for mum's day!

This is a beautiful song and gets to me every time I hear it. My siblings and I grew up in a multigenerational family home in the 50's and 60's. The Sadie's of the house included great grand mother , grandmother, great aunties and our mom. They're all gone now but the love they gave us is ever with us. Happy Mother's Day Amber! I remember this guy when I was DJin, come up on the stage and thanked me for playing this song, He had tears in his eyes almost like Amber.. I knew the lead singer Philippe Wynne brother. The late, great Spinners lead singer Philippe Wynn was one of the world's premiere vocal stylists. When he joined the Spinners, they took off and had a string of hits in the 1970s. One of the best is "Love Don't Love Nobody." Wynne later joined Parliament/Funkadelic.

This time of year always hits different, at least for the past 8 years. My own dear mama had health issues (diabetes, heart disease, was nearly completely blind and about 90% deaf, and much more.) Yet she always had a warm and gentle spirit and great sense of humor. So it was with a strange sense of irony that she left this world on Mother's Day in 2015. Like I said...it hits different for me. If you're blessed to still have your Mom with you, give her extra love, not just today but every day. And if she's passed on, cherish those memories you made together. In the 70's, you heard this and another song all day on Mother's Day! The other was is "I'll Always Love My Momma" by The Intruders! Both groups were part of that Philly Soul Sound, and for me, The Spinners are Right There with Earth, Wind, & Fire as the best 70's soul groups! I don't recall if you did "I'll Be Around", but another great one is "One of a Kind (Love Affair)"!!

Happy Mother's Day Amber! I Love this song, thanks so much for reacting to it. This is my first Mother's Day in over forty three years without my hubby. I lost him a few months ago after a long, long battle with Alzheimers and Dementia. I was able to keep him at home like he wanted until I had to take him to the hospital because he was having trouble breathing. I lost him two days later. That was blessing to be able to honor his wishes to stay at home, but it was really hard. I've spent most of the day in tears and I was crying right along with you Amber. I lost my mama (she was my grandma, but she raised me and I always called her mama) almost twelve years ago and I think of her every single day and today I'm missing both my grandparents and my husband, my heart. Amber, you love and dote on your mama no matter how strong she is. She is very precious and its such a blessing that y'all have such a special bond. (Girl put you a box of Kleenex I your new studio.) Every song you cry listening to, I always cry watching you cry. Anyway, I love the Spinners and I love this song. Thanks guys!

Happy Mother's day to Amber and all the mothers out there! If it isn't in your next two selections today, I would recommend next Mother's Day you react to "Lisa" by Lita Ford. She wrote it for her mother. It is a beautiful tribute. Likewise, this Father's day, I highly recommend Wolfgang Van Halen's (under the band name Mammoth WVH) tribute to his father, Eddie Van Halen. Yes, Eddie Van Halen. The song is "Distance" and you absolutely have to react to the official video as it contains previously unreleased family footage and voice clips of Eddie just being a family man and Dad with his wife, Valerie Bertinelli, and young Wolfgang.

My Sister, Brother and I lost our Mother at the age of 94 on September 4, 2022. This is our first Mother’s Day without her. She was a beloved Wife and Mother and devoted Grandmother. She was always there for us kids, and my being the middle child, I was a bit rambunctious. But my parents were tough but fair, and Mommy always showed us so much love and kindness. I am 64 years old, but I still miss Mommy.

You stopped it at the wrong time. The line "If there's a heaven up above, I know she's teaching angels how to love. . . it's a mean world without you" . The first line sets up the good she was, the 2nd part sets up how terrible and cruel this world is without her unconditional love to comfort you. To me, I cry everytime I hear that, the emotions to write those lyrics resonate with me - I know exactly how he feels.

The 70s motown machine produced some of the best music ever... the Temptations, the O'jays, the Chairmen of the board... but there was just something about the Spinners that set them apart for me. At 62 I still love to hear their music!

Hard to listen to this song without getting really emotional. Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there! The Spinners were a 70's behemoth and, in my mind, one of the all-time greats!
