I'm just now learning about Animism and realizing this has been me all along and it turns out there is a name for it and other people who feel the same way about the world/Nature and our relationship with it. I'm so grateful to you and other people who share their beliefs having grown up in a culture that was open to this way of thinking/believing/feeling. I live in America and let's just say it's unusual and not often that you meet other people you can have a good conversation with about these subjects. Hello Jo! I sure wish you a speedy recovery. I'm glad you don't have the plague (LOL) though it might feel like it. I'm also a nature girl and absolutely love the outdoors. I can totally relate feeling small in such a huge world (and universe). I've experienced some incredible moments in nature that certainly questions one's self worth and what is important in this wide world. Personally, I don't celebrate Valentine's day because I think it's important to share your love more often than just that one commercial day. I make efforts to do this every week with my spouse, family, friends, and myself (I'd include pets but I don't have any - for reasons on purpose). I also love spaces in my home and enjoy being in them. I love outside spaces around my home (I live on 45 acres of forest) and will spend hours sitting watching the sunshine move through the trees. It's the simple things that bring me joy and happiness and heartfelt memories and it is in these things that I can relate in you too. I truly love your sense of humor. I love your art and art making. I love that you love sharing nature with us. Thank you for sharing.

I postponed watching this video, even though I've got notification right after you posted it, because every video from you is such a treat for me and I want to find the best time to watch it(never in a rush or when I don't have the right mood), so I kept it until I find the right time and mood to pamper myself with it, haha! Well... your intro made me tear up, especially the "I feel welcomed by nature" part. I feel the same. You know how to create a moment of peace, of escape from the exhausting reality we live in, filled with wars and corruption, inflation and all the bad things. It becomes harder and harder to find peaceful moments and enjoy life. But tiny moments like these are like little pebbles you collect in your hand and hold them tight. I'm holding your pebble very tight. And I'm grateful for it. Thank you. 💛

Hi Jo!! Yes, nature and animals, I adore them. My name is Paloma that means pigeon in English. Here in Madrid most peaple hates pigeons and I feel very sorry for them. Animals in big cities are miserable, I think. In summer I stay in a very little village in the mountais and I take wihi me my dog an my cat. My dog i so happy there, she running all the time. I've just recently started using gouache and it was wonderful to see how you achieved so much depth in this painting! I keep ending up with a muddy mess and I think it will take a bit more practice to figure it out. I have just finished a master's in Romantic literature so I really appreciated everything you had to say in your video. Nature is so beautiful and we all have a connection through it to each other and the past, and it's worth taking a moment to stop and breathe in and just appreciate that. I find it amazing how your artist's eye picks up on the nuances of an object or animal or plant. Your paintings are so realistic that one could place themselves there, too. Thank you for sharing your stories. I really enjoy a good story or yarn.💚💚💚

What you said about feeling connected to nature and thinking of generations of people before and after us is very relatable. It makes me think of a word I learned in art class "synechdoche" which means one part representing a whole. Love thinking about how we are one small part of a bigger thing (humanity, nature, the universe). This was a nice Valentines Day treat, happy Valentines!

Hello from Sweden, Jo 🤗❤️ I love, love, älskar your style. So uniquemand colorful. It awakens the child in me and at the same time inspires the artist in me. It's just wonderful! I'm sure you've already thought of this, but just in case...... Way back when I painted a lot I always had the water and palette on my left side. It just felt natural to do things from left to right, even though I'm right handed. The tendons in my right shoulder had another opinion and convinced me that having the stuff to my right side was preferable. I have never looked back since. You and I must be living on the same wave length! I too have a horrible head cold. But More importantly I have been really thinking about Nature the PreRaphealites and how I want to express Naturalism (and folklore) in my own art. On my Mother's side of the family my Grandfather was a Naturalist as was his father before him in Nova Scotia Canada. Keep up the great work Jo!

Something that made a deep impression on me is a line from an old Hallmark movie where the character says that we are all like stitches in a sweater…each of us connected to everything and everyone else, relying on each other for support and survival. Unfortunately, I can’t remember the name of the movie.
