I recently reviewed the HDZero goggles and briefly flew this little whoop. Now it's time to take a proper look at the quad, set it up properly, and fly it around. Let's see how it performs.

Really liking the idea of getting the HdZore goggles for this reason of the smaller quads. Most of my quad are DJI but all my quad below 3” are analog. The mobile 7 nice whoop looks to fly good. Thanks for the review

DJI seem to be really against tiny quads, and people have to rely on putting all the effort into decasing and shedding weight of the air units as much as possible. Shame, they are missing a trick here

I love my Moblite7; I swapped to a BT 2.0 connector and 0802 25,000kv motors. Its amazing!

@@CurryKittenYES!! I also recommend adding a dab of e6000 on the antenna and mipi connector; to secure them a bit. Something I saw Ryan from HDZero do with his racing drone.

Interesting and very good video, as usual from you. I really think you should keep the mic. Live commentary is interesting. To get thoughts and reflections when it happens and not just more or less edited comments afterwards. Thanks from Sweden and I look forward to your next video!

Thanks - yes I like it to. I was using it yesterday flying a plane and I was surprising how much old-man moaning and groaning noises I make when simple sitting down!

@@CurryKitten Don't talk about it! I'm still only 57 years young myself (don't turn 58 until October 20th...) and I'm certainly not as stealthy as I used to be. Thankfully, my hearing is deteriorating faster than the volume of my grunts and moans is being raised...

Live commentary is good, I don't think anyone could have a problem with the audio as you where outside as well. I had an original Mob7 and I never got on with it as I found it tricky to control. Maybe I should try throttle limit and curve. Cheers

I had the original as well and I literally made a video about setting the throttle rate on it :) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rwUdwUMMytI.html You can certainly bring it down to a more manageable level indoors, but I did have a lot more fun with it outside (in the same spot as I flew this one)

For recalcitrant fc, you can also use the driver fixer that puts the fc into bootloader…

What's the driver fixer? It maybe that it's a Windows thing and so has't crossed my radar as I'm on a Mac

I know we've DM'ed this but I have to say again, this little Kawd is so very impressive I'm at a loss for words. And yes, the live commentary capability with the the mike is excellent and in fact that I thought you were using your other new collar clip-on mike system. It's lovely to have a wooded place to go fly these little woops especially in HD. It, may have been on my screen here but it appeared to have portions of where some of the leaves looked blurred for a bit?? But overall it's quite impressive. I still believe I'll jump to the Walksnail based on FAA decision as my thought is simply change out the quads I like best to walksnail's vtx and leave the others to live out life on my skyzone OX-4. Well done.

I hadn't really noticed blurring Bob, it maybe RU-vid doing it's thing, but I'll have a closer look next time I'm reviewing footage.

Keep the mic. A great addition. The quality is fine. Most of my quads are on HDZero and I love it because of the consistency and the breakup is such a good indicator of how near to the edge of range you are.The light handling and dynamic range also seems superior to O3 and Walksnail. HDZero is by no means perfect though. I always find it interesting watching HDZero reviews because the picture quality seems to vary so much from one to another. Sometimes barely analogue+ sometimes much nearer the retransmission/variable latency digital systems. I've never quite figured out what causes such variation. I can understand how some people hate the sparkles/breakup. For me the smeary fast moving grass of the other systems is my pet hate. Choice and progress are good. Let's hope they get the perfect system before FPV is legislated out of existence.

Very good points. Whilst I love the picture overall from Walksnail, having the compression effectively just turning al lthe grass in the picture to a single colour of smeary green isn't great. It does seem like each system is suited for certain flights. I guess we are still at iteration 1 of digital systems (that aren't DJI) Hopefully, things will keep improving

This is maybe the best review I have seen for this whoop. But, to be clear, you used the 4.4 CLI dump for the V3 which has a different FC and a different target? And it worked?

Yes, I do seem to have - mostly because I couldn't quite figure out which version I had because HappyModels docs are a bit all over the place. But it worked fine. It was mostly about getting the right pid/filters etc... and I always had the bail out of the backup I had. I do note now that on that page they have a 4.4.2 dump for the V2 and V3

@@CurryKitten That is interesting. Yeah, their stuff is all over the place. Where did you find a 4.4 dump for V2. I found it for the walksnail variant which is the same target.

I think the idea is it should, but I remember trying this in the past... but perhaps it's got better since. Try it and see. I haven't tried it recently as everything I was looking at had a nice big boot button

The mobula 7 is still a great little quad. On 2s it's a rocket. I am interested in the hdzero vs digital hd, how do you feel about them both?

Agreed - I still have my original analog Mobula7, it's a fun little quad. There's pros and cons to HDZero and Walksnail (which is my other digital FPV system) I like the much more feature-rich goggles on HDZero, but I like the nicer picture on HDZero. I could make a case for either though - depending on the sort of flying you do, but for my style and personal preference I'd choose the nicer image of WalkSnail

I can't remember now. I think I was going to say that it's very close to the feel of analog. Whilst the picture is much better than regular analog, I think because you get that sparkles of breakup and the latency is fixed, it feels like analog in higher resolution

My mobula7 is iffy. 50% of the time when it boots it can't find the gyro. More trouble than it is worth. They replaced the board and the new one is exactly the same.

Ouch - that's weird. I've only ever had one FC lose the gyro - it's fun when it fails in mid air. I've had the original Mobula7, the HD version (i.e it had a turtle 2 in it) and now this one, and all fine. I hope you can get your sorted
