I am a mechanic, guitar , and gun guy, I have had everything over the last 50 years. Snap-on , craftsmen, mac, Matco, and I bought my first US General about 3 years ago and my next will be the 72” floor cabinet and 52” top box
I did the side box on the cart many many moons ago , didn't take to long for me to make a full frame of steel angle iron to keep it from tipping , very handy box for cheap 💰, use it every day
I work out of a US General every day. That box and what's in it provide food and shelter for my family. If it's good enough to get that done, I'll use it til the wheels fall off. God bless Texas.
If you want a set of good gear wrench ratcheting wrenches I recommend the 35720 set it’s a 20 piece set but it has all the sizes you’ll ever need to use a ratchet wrench for
For the side locker 2 Standard OEM swivel casters could had been installed were that the whole unit would have 6 total casters combined and the 2 locking casters could still be utilized to keep the unit stationary and a metal spacer support under the locker would fill the void of the height differential between the locker and floor once the casters are mounted
hey Buddy i’m a retired Woodworker and we used a ton of the similar full extension roller bearing slides that are of your carr’s and boxes i heard you say oil a couple of times and fyi all the manufactures we used reccomended using nothing but Graphite on them so take that as you want oil does have a tendency to allow dirt and debris to stick to it and the graphite of course is a dry powder now i will admit that i have used a drop or two of 3 in one oil in my life but i did follow manufacturers reccomendations on the slides btw a tube of graphite has lasted me over 25 years and we built hundreds of cabinets with that style slide i too ama big fan of the older made in USA Craftsman ratchets although my go to are my Dads 1958 Sk Wayne he bought in the Navy and i inherited my Dad and i restored some Antique British Sports Cars i use a 1970s Craftsman 1/2 inch Digitorq that been calibrated and hasn’t let me down yet
That is exactly what I wanted to do ... thank you for showing about “grinding / cutting” the arches for the top lid to close on the side box - mine will be white or yellow since it will be inside (cleaner environment dealing with medical equipment / not mechanic shop)
I got the series 2 of this cart in Orange last month. I build out GM crate motors into marine engines. I upgraded from a 30" HF single 1 drawer cart. The side cab is an interesting mod. It is my understanding that Quinn is now manufactured by same company that makes Kobalt and Gear Wrench. I have a coworker that has Kobalt sockets they look identical to Quinn other than the branding.
So I have been a mechanic since 99' and comparing these US Gen carts to Snap-on or Mac is a no brainer. The same box from either is going to easily be 1-1.5k$. They carry the same warranty and pretty much made from the same materials ( mind you that Snap-on and Mac may be a bit thicker ). I have sold all my Snap-on and Mac carts and Boxes and gone to the Husky and US gen carts and tool boxes. they are yet to fail me in the last 8 years. For entry level and even the seasoned tech/mech these are wonderful and very useful tool boxes and carts. I have this same cart in black that is primarily used for light duty and race track/ track day use. Carries plenty of tools and handles the weight just fine.
This is an old video but.... I’ve used my hf cart for 10 years every day as a professional technician and I will say after the years it’s held up 100% I have literally beat the handle off it and both front corners with a pry bar and hammers from frustration or anger and it’s still going strong... best 125$ I’ve ever spent as a professional tech
Home Depot made me buy that $9 kit 1/4 and 3/8 also, and 28 wrenches 🔧 for $15 I have the husky 268 kit for going mobile, I added some pliers and adapters an 8 mm wrench 🔧 and removed the 12 pts to save weight
I was looking for ratcheting wrenches just like you. Found something that mattered to me, may interest you. Tekton makes 6 point ratcheting flex wrenches. Couldn't find any other decent company that did.
This is the same route I'm looking at going for my ratcheting wrench needs @ work... One because no missing sizes that they do... Also because I can order a matching 7mm to cover all the sizes I need @ work..
Man I've been using 90 tooth Gear Wrench ratcheting wrenches forever and never even slightly bent or broken a single one in 10 years. Can't beat em. They could be a little smaller profile but nevertheless they have been perfect
and you can always pick up the original design gear wrench ratchet wrench set like the one's you fixed that were stuck on both eBay and Amazon and usually napa for about $65 it's a 20pc set, some are on a grey tray holder, but my set was black and ace hardware specific and came with the 1/2 inch 3/8 drive socket adapter and the 13 or 14 mm socket adapter for putting in the box end of the ratchet wrench and using sockets.
I feel lucky, I have a full set of American sockets in all 3 sizes, full set of open end SAE and Metric, Full set of SAE and Metric combination, and a full set of SAE and Metric boxed end wrenches. A lot of over kill but worth more than I paid.
two years ago I bought the industrial Pittsburgh punch and chisel set I don't know if it is decent haven't had to use it,I had a craftsman and a full companion set from Menards and now they all but 3 of each of just the chisels, and one of each brand of punch vanished out of my truck.. and I have a old craftsman but it doesn't say Sears it is a bright unfinished steel look it's a bigger chisel..
I have a set of Craftsman 1/2 drive sockets that have put everything together Ive done since 1995. I hate the ratchet that came with them.I wanna throw it over the fence every time I use it.It is really bad to jump out of gear. It always has even when oiled.Im gonna buy a Wright or Proto one of these years LOL.
I know this video is 2+ years old. But Lowes will warranty ALL Craftsman and replace them with (Stanley) Crapsman. Actually they’re not that bad still made in China/Taiwan but so are Bluepoint, Mac, Marco, just about all If you want US pretty much it’s SK, Proto, SnapOn. The 2nd gen Icon sockets are decent. Truthfully who ever has the least hassle free warranty that is “local” my only gripe with Milwaukee, Tekton, Gearwrench is the photo/mail in warranty. I’d rather use HF,HD,Lowes where I can replace the 1 tool I don’t have a duplicate of to complete a job. Waiting for mail sucks so you end up buying a local tool anyway.
If you have a napa in your area they warranty gear wrench. I had to wait for them to order my 17 mm flex and took about a week but i did get it replaced for free without proof of purchase
I got craftsman 1/4 drive snap on 3/8 drive and teckton 1/2 drive. I got snap on because I use 3/8 for everything I can. I’ve got nothing to complain about for any of my socket brands. On the other hand my teckton Rachet rounded off. I believe it’s just a flaw in the one rachet but it feels high quality. Just stay away from Pittsburgh. The life time is good. But it’s there for a reason.
Hey love the tour of the tool box! Question, how did u add the side tool box drawer/cabinet? Please I'd appreciate the set up procedure thank you in advance. I currently have 30 inch 4 drawer us general.
I have the gen 2 roller cart and literally yesterday one of my locks popped off, i put it back together it didnt break but definitely made me a bit annoyed
@@fixedroofcoupe excellent, can’t wait. Just came across your channel and loving it. But I’ve found out who’s my competition at flea markets! I’m always looking for 6 points and USA Crafstman. Nice to see another like mind.
I am not a mechanic (at all), but i purchased this cart to store my woodworking tools and all of the other misc tools (electrical, diy stuff for around-the-house upgrades, small stuff that seems to be everywhere between my garage and laundry/storage room, and i appreciate the reviews, particularly how its organized. i have no idea where i am putting all of my stuff, but i do like your set up for sockets and wrenches, as thay nevered occured to me (even though my collection isnmuch smaller). can you share where you got the stands for the wrenches and socket stands?
Socket stands I got at Sears when they were still opened. Can get them online and harbor freight sells them now as well. The wrench’s are on the magnet strips harbor freight sells
I am interested in the side cart mod? I have a gen 1 tool cart. The side cart now seem like they are deeper than the cart. any suggestions? I would love to do this mod
Roberto Kellner friend of mine lived there for 12 years. His buddy owed a Mercedes dealership and gave him a bunch of old ones the last time he went. So he hung me up in my garage.
Lid opens to 90 degrees.... cylindrical lock..... and the name plate are all dead give aways that it is NOT an older model. I have one older model and 2 newer ones... Not sure why you are falsely claiming it is an older model..... but that model you are showing is new as hell
@@fixedroofcoupe some of the web pages or even some of the salads have a share icon I don't know if you have an Android device but there's usually a share icon what you can share it with other people
Danny Callihan i went to Lowe’s. They took care of me. If you call then they give u a number to call. You have to set an account up then buy it online they credit you bla bla. I just went to Lowe’s
The title says tool cabinet review but the review is 22 minutes long and a majority of it is about off topic things such as the tools around the box. I always get excited when I see reviews for tools 1-2 years later (everyone likes to review "new" out of box which helps no one), but I simply don't have time to watch a 22 minute video about tools when the title says tool cart/cab review!
