What I love about these videos. These are real life problems average people run into when trying to replace stuff. When you look at most big box instructional videos, all the fittings and everything is brand new and super easy to replace. My old kitchen sink looks just like this underneath...nothing easy. Thanks Steve.

You should see some of the ones I’ve installed the homeowner wanted but weren’t made for that type of sink.. I even did a Roman tub valve which was supposed to mount in the tub. No not what the builder wanted he wanted in the tile and it was made to be roughed in on maybe upto a half inch thickness and he had about two inches. Of course he wanted it in back where I could barely reach.. I even burnt a hole in my arm doing it. But it’s done and can never be changed unless you tear out the tub and good luck putting a new one in cause you still won’t be able to do the final connection. Which I told him. All that for a price pfister valve you know he is probably having problems with that valve by now.

@@paulmayfield9709 Yeah, I can only imagine some of the stuff that you guys run into in old houses. I do my best to try to figure out how to do things myself before calling a plumber, but sometimes it requires a lot more expertise than I have.

Seriously! I watched someone’s video on how to installed one. Looked like a display sink that was perfect and made the job look super easy but in real life, it’s not haha

I literally spent all day trying to find a tool that could take off that kitchen faucet nut beneath the sink and hours later, lots of frustration, multiple trips to home depot and feeling like I needed to call a professional to take care of this as they might know better until I stumbled upon your video and said F it and took a grinder to cut it off, within 20 mins I was done with the install of a new kitchen faucet. Thanks alot!!!

This was exactly the help I was looking for. I could not remove the large mounting nut underneath the faucet so I cut the faucet off at the base with my grinder with a cutting wheel - it worked perfectly. Thanks Steve!

Thanks for this video. I looked it up when I failed at plan B, and was glad to see that it wasn't just me. I was using an oscillating tool instead of a grinder, but thanks to your video was able to use the same technique to get the faucet out.

I bought a similar delta faucet with the hot and cold knobs on each side for my kitchen about a year ago.I only got it from Amazon which lowes, and other hardwares didn't have.Delta may cost more but its worth the quality to buy it.Bought a cheap one from Wal-Mart which it only last about a year. You do great work Steve ,I learned a lot from watching your plumbing.

I had the same issue with a American Standard faucet in my kitchen. I wound up having to cut off the nuts under the sink. I don't have a big grinder like you have. I used a cutting wheel on my rotary tool to cut them. It worked out pretty well as the tool was easy to maneuver into the tight space. Nice job.

I came in that predicament once before but unfortunately I didn’t have my grinder I had to use my saws all. Had pliers in one hand pulling up faucet with the saw under the plate. Didn’t scratch the sink to bad. What you need comes in handy in those tight spots is a basin buddy it fits supply nuts and those plastic nuts that hold down faucet and sprayer. You just need a 1/4 drive ratchet and extension.

Been watching for a while now, this is my first comment. Your videos are supurb, I found your channel looking for old school hydrotherm boilers diag and repair. I can't tell you how many times I've said "so you wanna be a plumber " out loud while diagnosing a repair and having the customer bust out laughing! I want to share a trick with you, replacing a 40 year old Gerber faucet. My little battery Dremel has no problem cutting all the hardware from underneath, putting on the new faucet, I install the supply lines first, as well as the spray hose nut above the sink, so I only have to put the nuts on, connect the speed lines from under. I'm pretty big and I hate those base cabinets with the divider between doors cause I barely fit. So many jobs I've had to adapt and over come! Your little mascot is super cute too! Keep the Gundy coming mama!

I had the same exact job here at home. I used a reciprocating saw with a carbine metal cutting blade. It was still a PITA. But I took the aerator off the spout BEFORE I turn the water on the first time to clean any residue that might block the aerator flow, then put it back on. I also used Moen rather than Delta. Not sayin' Delta ain't good, but the wife said Moen because that's what the original was.

Who did the original plumbing there, the one side copper looks like they was using up elbows.... Also, geez louise, if I have a plumber coming to replace a faucet, I get all the crap out from under the sink, to give 'em room to work. Besides at $80+/hr it's a lot cheaper for me to move the stuff, then the plumber....

If the threads are making the seal use it. If there is some kind of rubber in the fitting being screwed on -no. If there are beveled edges-no. Not on the first 2 threads of a male fitting. Never on the female threads. What ever the mfg says to do. So ...it depends on a lot of details.
