This show has awakened me to why there are so many openings with good pay for "regular" jobs - regular being defined as working a certain number of hours per week, arriving and leaving at set times, and showing up and doing your best work. I never dreamed people could consider renting out their garages, renting out their cars, being social media influencers, etc. as real jobs! Yes, you make a little extra money, but it appears to me that folks making money like this just do not want to put in real work on a daily basis. In addition, they are not paying into social security and likely are not getting other benefits that a "real" job brings. No wonder there are so many openings in the job market that employers can't fill!

Success depends on the actions or steps you take to achieve it. Building wealth involves developing good habits like regularly putting money away in intervals for solid investments. Financial management is a crucial topic that most tend to shy away from, and ends up haunting them in the near future.., I pray that anyone who reads this will be successful in life!!

Jeffrey, I understand you completely. I worked for 15 years in the special ed department for a public school district. Now I left in 2012 because my husband became catastrophically ill. I was vested in the pension at that time and after two leaves of absence and my husband‘s death I didn’t think I had a tolerance to go back. It seemed that the student population was getting more difficult to deal with. There’s also great division Between the parents and the students and the school district. It’s no longer a united front. I found it to be full of compromise, and that started to bother me before my husband was even diagnosed. I felt like I was doing a lot of the work. I felt like over 50% of our day was targeted towards managing behavior and not educating. Post Covid I can’t even imagine what it’s like now! It’s really a shame what has happened because a lot of great people are forced to leave the profession because of the topics I slightly touched on lol it goes a lot deeper than that as I’m sure you know. A colleague I used to work with also left and she is tutoring students privately. She’s also running small group classes, tutoring High school kids in their weak areas prior to them taking the SATs. She is doing quite well with this hustle she has going on. So a few evenings a week allows her to dabble in other things that she’s interested in but she’s also using skills that she spent her time educating her self in so she can educate others. You can do a lot with a teaching degree. You don’t have to subject yourself to the compromises that now go on in many of our schools.

Danielle in Tampa - It's always a fiance! (Never married, but always engaged...) Do people even know what a fiance is anymore? People are using that term for any long-term relationship now. Dave called her bluff by asking when the wedding is going to be! Look at Ken's face at 44:55 - Dave had to press her to admit the fiance makes no money. Am I correct - yes or no? "Quit calling sitting on my butt a business!" Then Ken says, "You need to be bringing in income. It's a game changer!"

If the first caller is not able to hustle and fund that bootcamp, he’s not gonna make it as a software engineer. Going down the self taught or bootcamp path in this industry requires A LOT of determination because you don’t have a degree to back you up. You’re a junior competing with other juniors that are interning their last year of a computer science degree. Do you honestly think your 12 week certification holds more water than their 4 year degree? If you’re not ready to cry and bleed over this decision, you’re not gonna be able to even break into the industry. My biggest pet peeve is people assuming anyone that can write two lines of codes gets paid six figures. That’s not how it works. Coming out of a bootcamp, you will crash and burn at your initial technical interviews. I’ve interviewed so many bootcamp grads that couldn’t reverse an array. You have to be ready to give it your all and that could mean starting with side hustles to fund it. It will immediately show you if you really do want this or if it’s just a get rich quick idea.

Jeffrey from Connecticut - Ken should not have told the teacher that he could perhaps teach college since he wants to get out of public school. Someone just can't "teach college." You need extra degrees, even to teach community college intro classes. Part-time work teaching college is great extra money, but is not really enough for a full salary. Full-time tenure track positions without a doctorate are increasingly rare except in STEM fields because the other undergrad courses can be filled by part-time adjuncts who want to earn additional money. In addition, having done both for 35 years (high school, community college, and four-year colleges) I can assure you that what is coming into college now is almost exactly the same problems that are plaguing public school. However, Ken was spot on when he advised corporate training and he also probably has skills to do project management. Doing HR is pretty challenging, not the highest pay, and is a field that is continually changing with lots of legal regulations. I don't know many who are in HR who are really happy doing so. He could also pick up some coursework at a community college for not very much money to check out some other career fields OR complete some certifications in Coursera to see if he likes those fields - quick and not expensive.

From the average growth in stocks in the American stock market since 1920’s. If you do the math it averages out to 10% but historically positive growth has been between 10-15% FOR THE ENTIRE STOCK MARKET. That doesn’t mean companies don’t fail. That doesn’t mean you are incapable of losing money. It doesn’t mean you know how to invest. All that being true, his statement is a fact. You might just not have your money invested in what dave says to have your money invested in certain types of mutual funds. Below are the four mutual fund categories we talk about and the reasons why we recommend them: Growth and income: These funds create a stable foundation for your portfolio. They can be described as large, well-known (big and boring) American companies that have been around for a long time and offer goods and services people use regardless of the economy. Growth: This category features medium or large U.S. companies that are experiencing growth. Unlike growth and income funds, these are more likely to ebb and flow with the economy. For instance, you might find the company that makes the latest "it" gadget or luxury item in your growth fund mix. Aggressive growth: Think of this category as the wild child of your portfolio. When these funds are up, they’re up. And when they’re down, they’re down. Aggressive growth funds usually invest in smaller companies with lots of “potential.” International: International funds are great because they spread your risk beyond U.S. soil and invest in big non-U.S. companies you know and love like Toyota, Samsung and Nestlé. You may see these referred to as foreign or overseas funds. Just don’t get them confused with world or global funds, which group U.S. and foreign stocks together. If you do invest this way you’re likely to see the average growth of 10% a year. Your company might also have terrible investment options.

On the 1st caller, if your not able to cashflow it then i dont see a downside to getting a small student loan with a differed payment plan. Then when you get the job making $75k+ go balls to the wall to pay it off before too much interest comes in. Ive never understood their hardcore no debt philosophy. Your always gonna have a debt to someone. They dont classify utilities, taxes or insurances as debt, but in reality those are debts for goods and services rendered. Debt is debt no matter how much you try and justify it not to be.
@lavenderkisses9461
@lavenderkisses9461 6 месяцев назад
But utilities are paid monthly-not put on a credit card to pay back later at a higher amount. That’s Bill accounted for in the budget, not debt. Debt is when you pay it back later and some call it “bad” debt when you then owe interest and that $1000 borrowed becomes $5777 paid over 10 years.

Hard work, in and of itself, doesn't deserve a reward. How much reward is due someone who pushes on the door marked pull? How much for the person who digs holes like crazy and then fills them back in? Hard work directly related to a worthy goal for which a reward can be offered is necessary. But just putting in the sweat means nothing.
@DeeDeebing

You're overthinking the idea of hard work for success. Hard work for success is also, in large part, mental behavior.
@ScotttheCyborg
@ScotttheCyborg 8 месяцев назад
@@DeeDeebing And mental labor, hard work as it is, still does not in and of itself deserve a reward. When I said hard work, I said nothing that would exclude mental labor. Hard mental labor wasted does not deserve a reward any more than wasted physical labor. I can spend a lot of hard mental labor contemplating the meaning life and that may well have a great personal reward, but that does not mean that anyone else is obliged to provide a reward. If Elon Must chose to spend a lot of hard mental work designing a new buggy whip, what should his reward be? Work 3,4,5 jobs? Seriously? Guess don’t believe in work life balance. And how can a man who suppose to be working for the Lord, advertise for. Carry and conceal benefit program. What weapon did Jesus walk with? His words and faith. No weapon.

47:10 with the exception of getting paid to sleep, no human being can work 6 jobs. Have you guys thrown sense out of the window? This isn't hyperbole because it's too small and it's not talking about individual one-time gig things for one-off occasions because 6 is too small, unless your a licensed plumber and 3 of those are construction sites. Look an Amazon worker in the eye and tell him or her to find 5 other jobs too. This career advice is so useless as it's completely unactionable. You might as well just tell people to start stealing cars parked at law firms!

This is Earth and reality. Do you not have critical thinking common sense enough to understand that Dave is kind of exaggerating when he says 4,5 or 6 jobs?

Some jobs are only 10 hours a week...

Stop taking everything literally GOSH! When they say that it's implied that what they are saying is to do whatever you can do, go all in. If the advice was useless, thousands of us wouldn't be living so well because of this advice.

Can somebody please fire Ken Coleman! he literally said "3, 4, 5 jobs" you're not physically capable of having five jobs, and if you have three full-time jobs you're probably stealing from one of them at least!

I have had 7 jobs at one time but 5 were contract work that was not consistent every week. It can be done but it requires a lot of organizing.

Makes sense. Fire the career professional because he lightly exaggerated to get his point across. 🙄

No, Ken is the best Ramsey personality. It is possible to have 5 jobs, you assume every job gives full 40 hours. It’s not about that, it’s about working as much as you can to get out of debt.

It's highly possible especially with the remote industry booming. Obviously all would not be part time. It's exhausting but definitely possible
