Ah thanks :D There are too many playthroughts of this game already on the internet. I feel like I have to do a little editing to make something worth while watching ;)
@@KINGOFFILMSDUDE Sometimes I wonder about that :P I do not know if it is due to my 2nd processing, or either the game recording software is picking up the voice actors and the ambient sounds in the background and its going into mush. Though I do have to say most of the voice acting is top notch, they got Brian Blessed to play a part! I am going to miss that man's voice someday :/
This comment really did make me laugh. I can just see Hanush, looking into an empty cup, smacking, his lips looking around for Henry to pour him another drink. I wish that I could do a Gmod edit with the characters to show that off. I am going to have to work something out in the edits to show this off :P
I am also thankful because there are so many people out there that like this game. Which I am surprised because based off old reviews, it seemed that no one liked this game. But I am glad the old reviews are wrong :D
Watching Helical grind through Bohemia like a psychopath makes me feel that Hardcore mode accurately describes the experience more for the NPC and less for the player.
Haha, I never thought about that. But I feel like most players after their 5th playthrough start to make NPCs life a little harder, whenever some guard randomly tells you get your torch out in the middle of the day. Hope you enjoy the rest of the series!
Just what I wanted to watch today! Love it!! There is something about the beauty of the game and your snappy editing that makes it sosooso good. Your laugh is infectious too. 🤣
I cut out so much of my laughter in some of these videos, otherwise I think it might be a bit too much. But it is a good marker when I edit videos, I know that something happen around certain times if I laughing like an idiot. But that is why I love KCD. It can keep me laughing from stupid bugs that happen here and there. Nothing game breaking but just a lot of "what did I just see, or what happened!"
Same here! Hopefully they release the game where it bug free of game breaking bugs. Regular bugs are fine :P But I know we lost a bunch of people because the bugs were too much for them on the opening couple weeks.
I am curious if he ever gets his legs back... Because I stole his clothes and legs about 5 to 6 hours in the game and he has not well, clothed back up. I am guessing is that he does not actually sleep or eat, but only goes back and forth in a few positions. I am thinking that he might regain his legs when I do more story missions where all the characters get reset but no idea, I will keep a close eye on him later on ;)
@@helicalgoose Please do keep an eye on him. I've always wondered why some npcs go to sleep in leggings and others don't seem to. However now I do not, nice way to attempt to keep visual bugs out of the game but nothing too difficult for Hardcore Henry to overcome. (Of course I could be misremembering the pants thing)
yeah after you get alchemy down and unlock cockerel potions, the sleeping problems are much less of an issue. I always steal from that poor Rattay armorer lmao and his quarters are so loaded with people you just have to hug them all..
Ah you're reading from my playbook ;) Once alchemy is set, the food, sleeping, and seeing at nighttime are all solved. Plus curing alcoholism just in case. Also, I can power up Henry whenever I want in any skill, which is absurd but under utilized in most games.
For me crafting aqua vitalis potions worked really well also the price of one is around 70 so pretty good, and you only need 1 marigold and 2 dandilions
Oooo, that is what dandelions are for! I always end up with 700 dandelions whenever I am out picking herbs, and when I go to brew it is like, why do I need this and end up selling them for pocket change. :P
Got to keep it in the sweet spot ;) Also, editing 40 minute videos is just too much O.o' I need another day off to be able to pull off something like that :P
I am glad! They are the hardest part to edit in these videos, but when something clicks, then they become the easiest and I just spend tons of time on them :P
I had a bad day, and this video cheered me up tremendously. Feels like I'm watching a friend play when I'm watching! Looking forward to the next one 👍🏻💯
Wow, that method of leveling up pickpocketing is absolute genius!!! I would never guess that depending on the value of the item you would gain more or less exp.
Yup! I hope it is useful for you too. But I think that it is the value overall and not the weight. It just happens that I collect tons of heavy breastplates that are worth a ton so hard to tell which gives more XP, but either way this trick just makes pickpocketing waaaay easier. Trying to level it up any other way is nearly impossible.
This is such a good episode. Thank you so much for these! I've watched multiple times and there are parts where I laugh til I cry. You're a master at making the most out of this game.
I am glad you enjoyed it so far :D Hopefully as you go along you see the quality of the videos improve. There are many things I would try to do better if I had another chance, but this episode was still silly. The things that happen in KCD. :P
Ah thanks :D There is a lot of potential in KCD that I am surprised that many other people did not try mining earlier! I keep saying that I am going to run out of KCD content, but my post-it-note list of new videos keeps getting longer...
Well really Henry was attacked by thieves right before that cutscene. Captain Bernard took all my "stolen" swag. Can't trust the guards in Rattay, they are corrupt :P and...not because I have been paying each and every one of them a bribe...
Please keep doing this playthrough. I love KCD with a passion, but I’m too much of a scaredy-cat casual gamer to play on hardcore mode, even with just 2 perks. So seeing you do this is amazing to behold, and it’s pretty funny too.
Well, hopefully after this play through you will give it a shot ;) I never played hardcore mode before this and thought it was going to be a pain in the neck, but after going through it, it is not so bad. This is sort of like diving into really cold water, once you're in, it gets better or at least I am numb to it :P
I played KCD a few years ago and was obsessed with it. I dont have the time to play anymore but i've been itching to lately. I'm able to watch movies etc while i wfh and thought why not watch someone else play kcd to fill my itch! I attempted hardcore but life got in the way unfortunatey. You're so fun to watch/listen to, i'm so glad i found your account. The squeek sound you use sends my dog NUTS though LOL. Love your work, subscribed :) :)
I love that squeek sound too, I really have to resist using it too much :P And I feel that not having enough time to play games. Really to get into any game I feel like I need a solid 2-3 hours of not having anything to do to be able to get into the game and that is so rare to find now-a-days. But hopefully someday you give it another try whenever you have free time. :D
Oh yah! It is stuff that KCD bless us with every so often. You don't know when its coming, but when it does, it is like what the heck! The best thing about making videos for KCD is that I get to capture all the moments, that so often get seen by people, but no one would believe them without proof. Its like pictures of Big foot :P
Very cool series! RecnetlyI have been trying to challenge myself too on all negative perks to earn achievement but to spice things up I'm also trying to get Merciful and Trial-and-error all in same playthrough, its tough but hopefully managable ;')
Anyone trying to wrap all those challenges in one playthrough probably knows what they're doing. It will be tough but I am certain you can make it happen :P Merciful is great for if you want to do a speed run, but I hated it for not being to grind skills up and that it sort of makes me try to avoid parts of the game. However, I will have to say I found out way more dialogue options playing merciful than I thought it had!
Im wondering if why u levelled drinking up, is for the safe passage perk, cause its basically a free teleport. Just carry as much mead as u can and hair of the dog to deal with the consequences, and getting smashed turns into the quickest way to travel from anywhere outside towns, to inside towns. Stuck in skalitz with 1000lb of random loot? Just get drunk and tada, like magic, ur in talmberg hahha. Im loving ur series dude, keep it up
I think the drinking leveling up just happened because I was substituting booze for food. But I think there is a way with the perks that if you do it just right, you can still get drunk super quickly even at level 20. ;) It is a great teleport that is well worth having! I will try to show it off sometime during this playthrough :D
@@helicalgoose if u take the perk that makes beer make u 50% as drunk, but wine twice as drunk, u can use wine as the teleport drink, and beer as the lockpick drink, if u use luck of the drunk that is, there is also the true slav perk (i think its called that) which means u get drunk twice as easy. With the benefits drinking has across multiple different skills, and attributes, like for speech and charisma, and strength etc, i think it might be the second best skill, after alchemy of course
Haha, all those skyrim little bits are all fantastic. I wish I could fit more into videos at a time. Don't know why, but that level up sound effect is just so satisfying. If they don't have that sound effect for Elder scrolls 6, I am going to mod in.
@helicalgoose man im so glad i discovered this series. Im currently on part4. What dafuq happened to that guard walking backwards. Must have hit him too hard on the dome
Honestly I have no idea. I like to think I know the game really well and how to manipulate the game to start bugs, but the walking backwards thing has me mystified. I have seen it a couple of times in my adventures, but no idea. Same goes with a bug that if you get off a horse, it sometimes gives you full fall damage and could kill you. Again, even with full recording footage and looking through, no idea. But I will say that is what made making this series so fun. Even though I played a ton, I was still finding out new things and experiencing mystery at the same time as everyone else. A lot of strange things happen whenever you start recording and I am glad I got them, because no one would believe it any other way. :P Hope you enjoy the rest of the series, it was great fun to make!
@helicalgoose u have messed up so much its affecting the timeline. Thanks for the amazing content man! Ive never mashed a subs button so fast. Jesus christ be praised!
I had to look this up in my files the song is called: Ratatouille's Kitchen - Carmen María and Edu Espinal I honestly like the light little bapba sound to it. It is free to use and can be found on RU-vid audio, so it is not bad at all enjoy it :D
Many thanks :D I have a feeling I am making the game too easy after all this "training". But most of those skills are things that do not win combat but rather just makes the game go smoother, especially when I want in a house, I can just lockpick the doors, steal the clothes off people and pickpocket anything else I feel curious about, then take a swig of all the potions under the rainbow :P
Really enjoying ur content man, probs! Maybe one advise, some edited sound effects kinda blow out my ears on headphones, maybe u could adjust the volume of these sometimes, but tbh its not a big Deal :)
Awesome thanks :D Could you tell me what part was the sound a bit too loud. I really do appreciate the feedback see if I can adjust some sounds. I do not want to kill people's ears. I wear headphones too while editing but I starting to think I need to pick up a better pair.
@@helicalgoose in this part it actually didn't happen too often, but in the first two parts a few times. An example would be the bing sound at around 6:07. But as mentioned, it's not a big deal and more of a small adjustment! Keep going man!
@@thomashahnberg6951 No thank you for telling me! Using a variety of sound effects and trying to adjust each and every one is hard to tell if one is going to be too loud or not loud enough. But the bing or ding sound effect, is good to know! I will be more aware about it! Thanks again!
There is a lot in the game that I keep learning about every time I play. It is crazy to think that this little game packs so much. The only issue is I wish I could change the story a little, but then again most great games they do not really let you anyways, so I will take the good sandbox :P
I am glad! It makes me feel better that I am not getting "high" off my own supply A few parts I had to rewatch over and over again, not for editing just because its so stupid, in a good way. :P
I honestly was not expecting to fall into a hole that I could not get out :P The NPCs are starting to get wise to Henry's misdeeds and start laying traps!
@@helicalgoose that cut scene is one of the most meme worthy, i especially like the free style rap the rattay priest does with rhyming criminality and brutality together
Skyrim is a great game, hopefully I will find a little niche to do a little playthrough on that ;) I am just not certain what angle to do since my character will not have a doofy voice to help me along :P
If I want ANY mod, it's a mod that makes the guards just... Not omniscient at all times. As long as you're not stealing, they'll never stop you. But the moment you steal a head of lettuce, they become Bloodhounds. Probably a good reason to push speech at the beginning. But maybe I just don't know something?
Hmm, I agree with you that the guards and NPCs in general could see things/hear things that should be possible. But I think this has to do with how some of the structures the game is built, like houses and doors. If you mess with the game enough you're able to push yourself through walls. Roofs collision are often non-existent from the inside out. Also, how some of the buildings are connected they're not air tight either. Meaning in some areas, even though you think no one can get to you or you're hidden, the NPCs can see you through those small little holes or breaks in the building. That is my take on the holy sight the NPCs have at times. The part where the guards know you committed a crime right away is sort of annoying too, like you said a mod to break that down a bit would be nice.
@@helicalgoose Yeah. I didn't mean guards actualyl SEEING you commit crimes, I meant the seeming "loot radar" they seem to have when ever you walk by with so much as a stolen potato. It's unrealistic, in a game taht has been advertised for authenticity and realism as some of it's bigger promises. You need to wear dark clothing? You do so, and guards will just gravitate to you, even if they couldn't have conceivably seen you at night, or just harass you in broad daylight, for no better reason than that you're wearing dark clothes. Steal things in clothes they blend in to utilize the inconspicuous stat? Doesn't matter. they'll pick you out in a crowd just HOPING to bust you for said stolen potato. Many of the stats that pertain to stealth do the polar opposite of what they should have been designed to do. And it just REALLY kills the stealth/thievery potential in the game completely for me. Which is a shame, because I'd love to play a sort of "blackguard"/thief run of KCD. But as it is statistically? It's just more irritating and immersion-breaking than enjoyable.
The burned down farm is really the best place for leveling. Bow&arrow, hunting and agility There two meadows with 3 cows each. You can shoot them right between their eyes and gain XP for that cruelty.
It is criminal about how good that place is. I think I have been reported for a crime once while I was there. Somehow one of the villagers was able to leg it that far, but most of the time they never make it close to any town :D
I am glad you enjoyed it! It is always good to hear that people enjoy it! Hopefully I keep getting better at editing. Still got things I can improve so we shall see how this series goes and hopefully keep making it better.
go and get the bird in the hand quest. Then if you get lost you can drop a cage and work out where you are. Helpful when you wake up in strange places. :P
Ah many thanks :D And I use not mods in this playthrough, but in the menu area you can press "q" or something like that over your skill or is it hovering over the skills that shows you the readout how much xp you gain. (This of course is playing on PC). But you can roughly estimate how much skill you gain. There is a "dev mod" that will automatically show you the skill gained of all your actions in the game, I seen a few speedrunners use it before. Alchemy is not too bad, but honestly once you get a bucketfull of groschen, I only use it on a rare occasion. I am mostly just buying out potion shops and keeping the rest on my horse.
Would you mind posting full walkthroughs I’ve tried playing the game once but wasn’t very good and quit. I enjoy your tricks cause they make the game seem more approachable again.
Hmm I might. The only problem I have with playthroughs is that for a game this old, it seems that it has been done quite a bit. People with better voices and better pacing already done that sort of thing and I can not compete at this time lol. I do have some videos on tips and tricks you can use in the game, but a full walkthrough might not happen for awhile, not while I have this "Hardcore Henry" series going on. This could take a couple months o.O'
@@helicalgoose I appreciate you taking the time to personally respond to my request. If it’s anything to consider I’ve tried watching other peoples play through on this game and they’re never quite as entertaining as you. Btw your Seinfeld joke was hilarious 😂
@@schoolofdank5736 That is some good eyes to detail you have there. I did not think anyone would be able to tell it was from Seinfeld, unless I left his name in there :P And yah, this game can be quite boring between the scenes. I do not think anyone wants to watch me walking/riding for 10-20 minutes before something fun happens. However, if someone has never played this game before, they are probably lost like what is going on! This place is insane :P
lol, took me a second to think about it :P I absolutely love it, but now I have a slight draw and need to go to bed to fix saying things even more strange than I usually do. ;)
I will try to make an entire playthrough. It just comes down to finding enough time putting this all together. I really do need some more PTO to make this happen ;)
i wondered and found my self at vranik just after i talked to sir radzig when entering his service. and its just a bunch of bush's with a broken down walll around it. and im wondering is it possible to get inside that area.
The answer is yes! There is an broken alter looking thing there in back. You do not need any tricks just a little jumping. Looks like there might of been a quest the devs were going to put there at sometime, but probably abandon it due to time constraints. This or either they just like really strange decorations.
I know this video is a bit old already, but you can actually learn the alchemy recipe by just doing the steps on a table. No need to buy the recipe, as Henry learns it automatically when "accidentally" finding a new recipe. This would mean no need to learn how to read either I suppose.
No way, I actually did not think that worked so I never tried it. I was afraid of having to take out herbs every time I did alchemist without learning to read, but this is quite useful! Many thanks!
@@helicalgoose Tried it the other day, as some herbalist didn't have the recipe I wanted and poof it worked. Just pick the herbs on the shelf from inventory instead of "prepare" from the recipe book. After the first time it's in the book. Great way to save time and money in early game. I guess you just don't get any reading XP from reading the recipe, if you even get any from that.
Many thanks :D Though, the youtube shorts do have the problem of being a certain resolution and size which would cut off the scenes or make things look strange. I have all the old files even this far back so I could do it in the future, make a best of shorts maybe, but I need to figure out the best resolution overall if I was going to do that. But hope you're enjoying the series so far :D
Hey, what is the song you always put at the end? Also this pickpocketing exploit is a cool idea :D. Doesn't abusing the game this way ruin the gameplay for you though? I feel like it is better to just go through the game, than grind or glitch stuff. But yeah, it is hard to resist. When I played hardcore, I was also abusing the fact that killing chicken is not crime, when you use melee attack and not a bow (it is a bug actually). Which is handy when you are broke and food is expensive in the beginning. But it kinda ruins the game...
Yah that song is called "Western Spaghetti by Chris Haugen. He has some wonderful pieces! But this song is just a classic I love it so much. The main reason I am not going through with a "straight playthrough" without exploits is because that sort of thing has been done before with this game, and I think people might think its a bit boring. I do not have the good voice or that story telling skill built up quite yet. Still learning how to do things better. Also these sort of exploits I have been grinding on, like pickpocket or lockpicking are not things that are needed in the game, but nice to have. I could've maxed out all the combat skills, but I feel like that is too much and would make the game boring for me. The other skills are just fluff that does not ruin the game for me, but rather enhances it, since I able to do more things now. Instead of knocking people out or killing them, I can pickpocket them or break into their place. But I know what you mean about making the game a bit too broken, and yah it could if you take it too far. Also this is my 7th playthrough so I am also willing to break things down a bit, I almost seen everything. Which is a surprise because there is still things I have not seen yet even with this many times I played the game.
@@helicalgoose Got it. For the sake of content it makes sense. And it is true that it is something that makes your videos unique. Pushing the boundaries of what can be done. Gameplay-wise I would not reccomand it to someone on their 1st or 2nd playthrough, but if you really are playing 7th, then yeah, whatever :D How many hours do you have on the game?
Thanks :D And you can do it without the recipes but I believe you have to bring out the herbs each time and search for them, and good gravy does that take a long time. I mean leveling up alchemy already takes awhile but going through the menu each time hurts :P
@@betrandguesclin No way! I honestly did not know that. Well, that changes everything about knowing how to read! The speech buffs are nice + good dialogue options, but for some reason that was put in my head. Many thanks for the information :D
@@helicalgoose 1 last thing if the ingredients are correct you don't need to boil or grind. So saviour schnapps are so easy. Just put wine nettle and 2 belladonna in the cauldron and finish with the phial. Btw don't know if you need the perk for an extra mistake.
Yup ;) You're allowed to make one mistake which is awesome. Unfortunately, you can't add on the perk to make two mistakes and not add in a marigold and still get the points. Bah, the meanies :P
You shouldn't skip the boiling part before you get the perk "trial and error" BCS you don't create 3 potions as you should and you lose a lot of exp which means you LL need to do it more times then you would normally. You can skip the boiling part after you get perk. Also I like to skip autobrew until I get to 13 level bcs autobrew gets 10x less exp then regular method. In practice if you use autobrew, you need to brew 100+ potions for every level while in a regular way you need 10-12. If you count in all the animations I think you actually need less time if you just do it regularly then with autobrew.
Also one small recommendation. Make digestion potion and hair o dog asap and use it to brute force levels in drinking until level 10. Then take perk "safe passage" and every time you get shitton of loot just drink yourself to oblivion and wake up in your bed. I like to call it drunk loot express.
Ah, yes both could work. I was thinking that since Henry was from Skalitz he was bringing that to Rattay. A new place for him to terrorize, thus making it a little Skaltiz Criminality, but I can see now how that can confuse. In hindsight the Rattay should've been used.
*cough* about 5 hours *cough* Maybe a bit longer... Pickpocketing was about an hour, alchemy was about 2 hours, and lockpicking was about an hour. The rest of it was travel time some other stupidity like killing pigs for pork and selling it to make some groschen that I was not going to need soon enough :P
Hey, sorry for the late reply, but here it is... its called Ratatouillie's Kitchen. I really do love the soft song, it just works in most of the video :D Link below if you wish. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qV25KGCCRcw.html
I am sorry, but I had to...:P Umm there are some things I do like to swipe off people without having to kill them in broad daylight. Makes things go smoother. Also, it makes it easier to show off things that people normally do with pickpocketing, because the skill is in my mind useless. Unless we are able to put grenades or something into people's pockets that would make them die or get arrested by guards, I do not see the point to pickpocketing :( It is just a fun to have, plus it really did not take too long with the little tricks I do. With hardcore mode 1/2 exp gain it took roughly an hour.
@@searaider3340 Haha, I have been slowly editing out things when I hear myself mispronounce it. After a few drinks I just start to go ham on the mispronunciations :P
That might be true, but I have a soft spot for Al-Buraq. Especially since Al-Buraq has witnessed Henry killing so many people and Henry watched Al-Buraq killing so many people, they sort of have a pact bonded in blood. ;) Warhorse Jenda is too "honorable" for this type of business ;)
lol, I think you're onto something there. I feel like buying that horse is just a force of habit :P After so many play throughs together, I sort of feel naked without that horse. Sort of like Pebbles on the first play through ;) I feel like I need to branch out a bit. It is not like money is a problem!
I did this on my first playthrough, ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YGeKTTbKltw.html I haven’t been to jump back on the trebuchet since. Was wondering if you could try to duplicate this.
Ah thanks for showing that :D I will take a look at it sometime in the far future it seems from now. But I think the last time I tried that, I was trying to put a horse up there but didn't work. I wonder if Henry can "fly" further with a little persuasion :P
The alchemy thing you showed us really helped me in my playthrough where I'm doing a no killing and no stealing And just selling my potions. Henry taking the honorable path
A no stealing run is actually god tier. Because making money in this game without taking anything is, well really difficult. If you're including not killing animals, then hunting is not viable. The only thing you got really is picking flowers and making potions. While you can make money doing that, it will be a long grind or either a very poor Henry ;)
It actually sounds harder than it is. I found that certain vendors mostly food ones regenerate their money every day rather than a week or so. The two stalls by the alchemist in rattay have so much money daily just by me selling to them all the time. It may be faster than stealing so you don't have to wait a week for the vendors to get their base money back. It's kinda boring but it has its own charm. Doing a pacifist run seems stupid when Henry is still a bad guy because he would normally steal from just about every store in all bohemia. I will be hunting but only after becoming the master huntsman. I haven't even done the limpy lubosh quest and I have 100 thousand silver but all got legally. So satisfying.
@@helicalgoose it's actually not that hard if you're a Farkle addict like myself., sure pickpockets makes it easy but is finding Treasure really stealing 🤔 😅
