This dude, took more effort than needed to say things that didn't need to be said. It's YOUR channel, you can talk about and mention and promote (and EVEN DEFEND) anything you want, your other channel, your other channels, your merch, and anything else that you want to because it's YOUR CHANNEL. And if he, or anyone else doesn't like it, then hit the door. For every 1 of these types of "viewers" you have 100 other viewers (like me) who do not mind, and even if there are things we don't care for, we practice being decnt adults and keep those thoughts to ourselves. These pinball machine are basically relay computers :) The Score motor is the Clock oscillator and the relays are the Logic.

Ron, It's probably something you don't keep in the shop, but try wrapping the LED hand light with a used dryer sheet. More wraps = more opaque = more diffuse light.

Part of the problem with the LED being "too bright" is that it is taking your camera a long time to adjust exposure levels. See if there is a setting you can change for faster response to changing lighting conditions.

That's what I've been thinking. I mean, he's not necessarily wrong, a lot of these cheap LED lights are meant to be as bright a white as possible to the point of washing things out, but then he has the white balance cranked on the camera because it's dark in the machine, when he brings the LED in, that white balance blows it out worse than a porn star after a gang-bang. He has to manually bring it back down every time he goes to the schematic because then those are blown out. Auto-balance is often slow and the constant adjusting it does can be a nuisance too. Just can't win.

45 minutes to correct a 10 point problem.... Sounds like you did the right thing to me... It only makes sense to make it 100% right. More than I can say about the wiring diagram.. I wonder how many people have screwed up their game following those incorrect diagrams. Good job on the troubleshooting... If you are like me you love the challenge... I'll keep following if you keep fixing them!

Amazing what the engineers were thinking up, with the stepper wheels and score motors. I bet they walked around with chips on their shoulders, after coming up with new ways to score. Brovo Zulu to them.

They were booted out the door like yesterdays diaper when the games went solid state. Zacharias drawings bear a resemblance to William's EMs they just run a little quicker.

Good diagnostic tool for EM games is the "Coin counter" unit inside the game as it is a solenoid set for the games voltage. I have a few 24,30,and 50 volt ac they are good for telling you how many valid pulses on a wire,for every SCM cycle.

okay no place where to put this so I will ask here...I have a machine, it's a World Cup Williams...not the Gottlieb...and it has a lot of what I would call sky blue. I am havving a heall of a time to try to match up the color...s there somewhere on the web that says mix this with that etc...etc.. I could really use some help without presnting a 3rd grade finger paint problem here. thanks so much sir. I dig your video's and thanks to covid I got thru all of them.....so great ! thanks Steve

I explained it a little bit just before that, there is a 'ball saver' that pops up between the flippers and the coil that pops it up was buzzing because it was struggling to pop it up so the buzz you heard was the coil vibrating. When I advanced the bonus unit (you hear a click) It moved it off of trying to energize that ball saver, it only pops it up on certain places on the bonus unit. Thank you for watching Blacklab!

And also on an earlier machine you were working on they had thumper bumpers and they look like the bumpers off an bumper pool game. Are they the same thing as Pop bumpers but named differently? Or two completely different mechanics? Or basically the same thing but name differently?

Thumper Bumpers and Pop Bumpers are the same thing, the different companies tried to copyright all the same ideas but just used different terms. They called them "Jet bumpers" too!

Would you have to put the coin in first then hit the flipper then hit the new game button. Or. Flipper coin the new game button? To start a new game. I know it's on free play but. But if we took a time machine just to play this game in the '60s that would the process be. Just curious.

As soon as you put the coin in, it starts the game. So even if it was dark, when you put the coin in, it would start the whole thing up, I might have to do that in a video to show it, it's pretty cool.

That would be great. Because the whole mechanics is a little confusing. But I've played EM machines in the late'70s so earlier games is beyond my radar.

Is it possible that the schematics are right, but the key is wrong? IOW, what if the schematic was supposed to represent the state with the game turned on and the first ball in the shooter lane...or maybe some other common state (instead of energized V. not energized)?? I always have difficulty trying to determine what state the schematics are supposed to represent. Some of the schematics are clear, but others not so much.

I figured it out after I filmed this John, it says right above the bottom 'schematics show machine in reset position' so they ultimately were right I just didn't see that, haha. Thank you for watching as always!

JOES CLASSIC, When is the "Anti Cheat Relay" turned on and what on the playfield turns on/off the "Anti Cheat Relay"? I saw it on the schematic but not sure what the Anti cheat relays purpose is used for. The Play Action Adjustment Jacks normal vs strong is to make the coils have a higher voltage but this changes the "Action" strength of the All the coils on the playfield or only just the flipper coils?

Maybe "normally closed" means: Normally closed if machine is switched on? Just an idea for discussion..

It says on the schematics "Normally open closed when energized" and "normally closed open when energized" So it's completely backwards, when it energizes they're backwards on that one particular relay...

Maybe they thought the lock relay was normally energized and so considered it's energized state to be the normal position.

It is worse when your buddies are around laughing knowing what you did. If it gets you, put it on the blooper reel the fans will love it.

Is there a slightly more digital version of this game, like, without a million mechanical parts, one that has a better chance to survive another 50 years? The worry is, You can't rely on there being a Joe forever, or somebody who is willing to pay Joe forever to keep this going.

@@LyonsArcade Well well well, I heard this machine is emulated by Visual pinball /pinmame. So you can retire peacefully Joe! The game will never be forgotten. I really appreciate the craftsmanship in the videos! I got interested bc seeing all components inside, yea, now we know why there are not many pinball machines around. They're just hard to maintain and therefore expensive and less profitable than generic video games. It's a shame though. I played the Black Knight (Williams) a lot in the 80s, was great!
