Elden ring is so special playing it blind looking nothing up has been a delight. When I found that underground dreamscape area I honestly felt like I was 12 when I first played skyrim. Truly special.
Not to mention the enemey placement is insanly good. I have no Idea how far I've progressed, but I unlocked an entire portion of the map simply by being chased by a mix of world bosses and trash mobs, thus not being able to open my fast travel due to agro lol.
Duuuuude, just randomly stumbled onto it today. That place is so fucking sick. Just the elevator ride gave you a sense of wonder. This game is a fucking masterpiece. Probably just became my favorite game of all time.
For me the most time consuming and infuriating part is actually FINDING godrick, stormveil castle’s design was really complicated for me and it took me so many death to find him, more than godrick actually killing me.
@Matthew took the words out of my mouth....yeah good luck with that place it's a complete maze filled with tough shield enemies with spellswords 😂😂,I was glad when i beat morgot and gtfo that place haha
i hate stormveil castle lol. First i thought i had to fight that black knight thing... i got abseloutly fucked. The i couldnt find the second checpoint so everytime i died i lost like 20-30 min of progress. I only good through because i looked up a guide on where i had to go.
@@unfunny9572 yeah the performance issues are kinda wack. I get stutters in areas that make no sense lol. I can look at the entire map and 20 enemies no frame drops but I look at a wall and the game fucking dies
I’m with you. Godrick felt really easy. I beat him on my first run with a summon, but let him kill me so I could appreciate the boss mechanics solo. Only took 3 tries, still a fun boss fight though
One of the few open world games that feels full of life in every area of the game. There’s so much shit you can explore and the fact there’s an entire underground system of the map makes it so much fun finding little mole holes everywhere.
@@michielvansteenhoven7255 red dead 2 is easily one of the few open world games that are fantastic in making the game feel alive. Whether it be wildlife, bandit encounters, and of course the story missions, the game is fantastic. Only downside for me was the island area of the story that was a weird take.
This is my first Soulsborne game and I spent my first five hours trying to beat the Tree Sentinel on foot. I ended up doing it due to sheer tenacity and now I get the appeal of these games.
@@mihaimercenarul7467 You literally just explained part of the appeal. Getting better and better as you fight a boss several times makes beating them so much better.
The fact that I'm trying my hardest to beat this game, and struggling so much. Like I MEAN ACTUALLY sweating, just to see Charlie run in and just bonk enemies that wiped the floor with me. HURTS MY SOUL. He is just built different.
It's still nice to see him getting killed a few times, lots of souls players are full of shit and make out like they run through the entire game without taking a single hit when in reality we know everyone dies....
@@enzoo3710 no, he is playing it fair and giving a proper game experience that anyone could expect but a lot of other souls players online talk like they beat it easily and that is simply a lie
Godrick took me a solid hour and a half to beat, and I was 100% over leveled for him. I actually scream cheered when I finally downed him, God I love this game!
I beat him on my 3rd attempt and 2 buddies of mine beat him on also 3rd and second try but we did alot of side stuff before finishing up stormveil keep I think phase 2 is signifcantly more easy than phase 1
@@uchiwalaumdilala At first I thought phase 2 was tougher, and then I realized any of the dragon attacks can be rolled through and have so much end lag you can take 1/4 of his health before he can even retaliate. God, I love this game!
Margit was just awful, way too aggressive for such early boss and with such a big moveset. Godrick was not only a more interesting fight but felt way more fair imo
I really love the world of elden ring from a design point of view. The map has such a nice flow to it and its huge. All the locations are almost dream like and fantastical. This game really lived up to the hype for me and i havent even beat half of it yet.
@@OneAndromeda559 same here. I was just wandering around a long time not really doing anything. Randomly stumble on that really long elevator. That area blew my mind
Hell yes, the game is like a moving painting, almost every shot looks visually stunning. It feels dreamlike, everything is sort of delirious and exaggerated.
So I don't want spoilers but... I have done all 3 parts of limgrave and a decent chunk of the red place to the east. What percent of the game would you say that is? I have this irrational fear that I'm going through it too quickly and I'm gonna run out of content before I'm sated.
I somehow beat Godrick first try, just brute-forcing his last 20% hoping the fire rain would miss me. Only boss I've cleared first attempt, got stuck on the Cliffside Catacomb's Watchdog for a good 2 and a half hours.
That's wild, I struggled a lot with Margit and a bit with Godrick, but I thought Watchdog was almost too easy. I guess one's build plays out differently with different bosses.
The double watch dogs fight by one of the Erdtrees in Caelid is still giving me problems. 1 wasn't so bad but two for some reason is a challenge with timing rolls.
I didn’t really struggle too much either since I played really passive with a shield until I understood his move set. Shields are pretty underrated when taking on a boss for the first time
Bro I think my game bugged... He never did the dragon thing for me. He was just stuck in the first phase the whole time. I beat him on my second attempt. Plus when i go back to the boss area the dragon head is still on the dragon, which it isn't in this video. the fuk? did I activate some secret mechanic by accident?

It comes with lots of playtime with Souls games. You stop worrying about dying much, especially with Elden Ring where it's more forgiving usually. You'll also get more confidence as you beat more bosses, and new bosses just start to seem more like "the next target", and less "Big scary boi". You'll get there in time! : )
I loved fighting Godrick such an amazing boss and design but its only after seeing Charlie play is when I discovered Godrick has a smart AI by taking cover whenever he casts projectile sorceries. That's incredibly rare for an RPG boss to do
Yo I’m doing a prisoner build as well and in my experience I don’t think the ai was taking cover when that spell is cast the boss thinks it’s being shot (why he was rolling over and over every cast) I think the ai just happened to roll behind terrain I never had him hide from my spells just roll on cast but not when they actually fire
@@thumpdragfilms Some AI is programmed to dodge roll magic like players do. The AI did NOT purposely take cover and you're ridiculous for thinking that happens in a Fromsoft game xD
@@Blearcord from what I've seen, certain elden ring bosses punish you or counter your tactics, like the bear will cancel it's animations and go straight for you if you try to back up and chug a flask. Could be wrong tho but it's an interesting coincidence.
Godrick personally is one of the coolest bosses ever, his lore, design and overall character is so cool, i like how he has transformed from a descendant from the Golden Lineage, the most elite class of beings, into a decrepit monster obsessed with power and bars set by his peers, i like his voice lines too, bear witness has got to be the coolest voiceline in the game, i also love how he is the first shardbearer you face, he is the weakest yet has that much power, even when grafted, it just sets you up on the power you are facing now and if the others were as powerful as described, this powerful demi-god would actually be a mini boss in comparison
Yeah Margit took me like 30 and I was like f that I'm gonna explore and after I did that for 6 hours I steamrolled the entire castle and Godrick first try
Same here, took about 5 tries to realize you have to stay at mid range in phase 1, and then get right in his face in phase two except for his aoe stomp. It went from feeling like bs with that barely telegraphed wind attack to very manageable and super fun
Same, Marge got me like 35 times before i got it down. Godrick's attacks are very exploitable once you lose the fear of getting one shotted. Charlie hated the tornado thing but it's actually his most exploitable attack since you can consistently bait the his spin move and then roll literally below him for 3-4 slashes.
I know like for some reason I've died to godrick 5 times and yet I get excited when facing him again because I get to see his transformation about halfway through the fight
@@asiansimp Imo the only bullshit boss on DS2 is Burnt Ivory King, he's the only one in which I thought the hitboxes were shit, aside from that fight the game is fair when it comes to bosses. The hard stuff in DS2 are the areas themselves and the fact that a lot of traceback can be done to get from a bonfire to a boss.
@James LaBrie nope, I’ve played all of fromsoft games excluding DS2. I finished the game and Godskin Duo was the only boss fight that I summoned for because I knew I wasn’t going to beat it.
Magic is so good in this game lol. I spent a while making a quality build but got annoyed at my lack of ranged options. Went back and made a int build and now I have a magic long sword in my right hand and staff in my left and it's a lot of fun
i feel like the same thing. i usually go for the shield sword and r1 spam. and i got my ass kicked so hard i had to take a break. But i think magic combat builds are a way to go in elden ring
I'm a more balanced builder if I'm honest. Like I try to have even enough stats to where I can wield most weapons, sorceries, and incantations. Right now I have good spells and incantations I can use, as well as good ol fashioned strength.
I think I went through like 7 different builds on my first playthrough (larval tears are a godsend). Started quality with bloodhound's fang, went intelligence with meteorite staff, then did dex/int by adding moonveil into the mix, then pure strength with Grafted Blade GS and Guts GS, then went Faith/Int with SoNaF, then went strength/int with Radahn's Greatswords and finally ended with arc/dex with Rivers of Blood.
If anyone has problem with godrick, try to always stay behind him and know his combo attacks so you can run away from him, don't spam roll, roll once and hold sprint and run away. I learned that for the two first attempts at him. I beat him on my third try using that strategy.
I got him first try by just spamming jumping attacks while staying behind him, the jump attacks can sometimes just make attacks miss you lol they're great
For me he killed me multiple times, i fought him for an hour and a half... the boss is cool and good and every atempt was an interesting fight. Each death was a mistake on my own part like instinctive rolling into him when he starts whirlwind attacks, or being overly greedy, or being overly conservative in his second phase so he slowly killed me with fire. The boss is great, awesome infact, but is wasnt satisfied with my performance...when i concentrated a bit and paid attention i beat him actually quite fast with two-handing falchion and some other curved sword both with that bleed ash of war ( i copied that one )... That fight feels like merging of Gael and Midir fights...

Game is so good. I played a Vagabond for my first class and my current weapon of choice is the scythe from the skeleton dudes. (you can get past the castle/broken bridge via a path behind the castle.) It's so fucking strong, it has bleed and a busted crit chance.
I’m seriously having so much fun with this game, I’ve only played Bloodborne and this brings that energy back with an open worldish feel. Also that character customization? 😩🤙
@@snazzyfeathers exactly, eventually i gave in and decided to use the wolves to distract him in the beginning, then do enough attacks to stagger him and reposte
I decided to go where the game took me, and didn't go to that area first... Went back to hit a while after, and i absolutely destroyed margit first time If you feel he's harder, it's because you probably struggled a lot due to being underleveled, because he's a complete joke, i went straight for godfrey right after, and he actually was a decent challenge still
9:30 grafted scion, same guy from the tutorial. BTW if you beat the tutorial one you get this sword and shield. the sword is cool as well. has an awesome weapon art.
I'm fighting him right now. He's great. Got the timing on the first phase down. Wish my DPS was just a bit higher, but I think I'm appropriately levelled nonetheless.
If you go to the tunnels north of the lake with the dragon in it early on you come accross a dungeon with a bunch of miners. Kill them and get the gold theyre mining its an upgrade material. I walked out of there with 16 +1 stones and a few +2
Man summons really do make bosses very easy. Especially the jellyfish one. Im thinking of maybe not using it for any other bossfight, since it made Godrick quite easy (for me at least)
Summons are and always have been the easy mode in dark souls games, aside from particular fights where the summon is useless and just buffs the boss hp like in Midir or Gaping Dragon's case, summoning always makes the game easier. Ornstein and Smough legit become easier to beat than the asylum demon once Solaire is summoned, at least for me.
I was kinda stuck on margit, like 7 attempts, and then used the jellyfish and easily did it first try.. Felt kinda dirty, im not gonna use them anymore i think

Godrick and Godfrey are my 2 favorites in the game. I killed both on my second try. I leave my summon in front of both of their boss rooms and just help people beat them, because I know they're big pains in the neck. But I just love them. I've killed them around 50 or 60 times, each. My name is Lusty Babe, I wear the dung eater chestplate and weild Radahn's blades, as well as Shabriri's Woe with the Rotten Duelist helm and greaves, that way the bosses aggro to ME more than the Host. I know I can handle any attack they throw at me, so I'd rather have the boss duking it out with me in the arena, rather than risking the Host missing a roll and accidentally dying. I hate to lose the fights for them, and if they die, I consider it my fault for not keeping the boss focused on me. When we win though, I whip out the dragon you get from beating Godrick and spam the flame attack. It's my version of fireworks to celebrate for my Host 😂❤️
he's actually really easy to beat if you have luthel the headless knight at [2]. he'll tank godrick's attacks and you can damage godrick from a distance or cause him to get hemorrhaging by using blood slash or anything else that causes passive damage.
It’s so interesting watching this play through cause I went a completely different way in order to get to godrick, and it just goes to show how fucking amazing this game is
i’m surprised he considers Godrick the hardest so far, compared to Margit he was a walk in the park, this however doesn’t take away from the fact that it’s an awesome fight to experience
Opposite for me, Margit was distracted by the sorcerer and some wolf spirits I summoned while I booty blasted him with charged heavy mace swings. Godrick is proving way more difficult for me
For real Godrick is probably one of my favorite souls bosses with how he is but I managed to bug him out surprisingly with him not going to the second phase
Didn't quite skip it to that extent but a combination of stagger and bleed meant he was at 1/3rd or less health for me when he went to phase 2 the time I beat him as I got lucky and got a stagger right around when phase 2 would normally trigger then the crit damage was enough to then trigger bleed which took another chunk of health off, then I got a couple more hits in before the cutscene played too.
One of the great things about Elden Ring in my small amount of experience playing the game as of yet, is the fact that even basic enemies still pose a threat. Bosses are regular enemies with more health and attacks, the biggest difference is the health pool and design. This makes even basic enemies fun to fight
Tbh I struggled more with the boss before godrick than godrick himself, way easier to stay on his back and get free hits in than the other guy with the cane because he constantly jumps away and stuff

Man this vid made me realized I skipped a lot of places and accidentally found the boss by just going in the rooftops. Its unbelievable how much you can do in this game.
For me It was weird, in the final fight he never transformed to his second form, so i destroyed him pretty easily, im not sure if that was a bug or some weird mechanic.
I was so pumped fighting this guy, took me about 20 tries, but always minor mistakes on my part. Same as you including rolling off the cliff, and getting stuck on gravestones.
When I first got to Stormveil castle, I was blown away tbh. I was like WOAH holy shit this is like a whole ass dark souls 3 level but still a part of the overworld
This stuff happened couple of times with me in Bloodborne and dark souls. Also I didn't take lots of tries at him as well, he isn't that hard as most people are saying. Margit was an asshole though, I just summoned jellyfish for that mfer
I beat him second try and was suprised as well. Woulda got him first try if I had more flasks. Some of his moves are free damage if you haven’t seen it yet.
@@wilburforce8046 the tornado rolling attack especially, when he jumps you just need to roll under him, that move is very easy to avoid and punish. Also, it's better to be close to him at second phase, the only dangerous attack he has in that is him grabbing you with the dragon hand. Fighting him away from him is bad because he uses that dragon for long range attacks.

The summons In this game are op the rotten dog one will literally solo any boss since it’ll inflict rot (toxic) on anything and completely annihilate it not to mention upgrading it
The next plot boss is actually much easier, that wolverine-dog ninja with a sword, surprisingly did it on first-try, thanks to medusa summon and its poison
I’m not sure why, I found godrick quite easy. I beat him on my second try. The first phase is intense, but once he cuts off his arm I just baited the fire attack and chopped him down. Margit on the other hand whooped my ass for a good hour straight.
I find it funny that different people struggle with different parts. Margit I got second try, and I'm on like try 50+ against Godrick. These games are strange.
@@nefarious8278 well I was going to come back I just wasn't sure I was ready for it since it was already really hard for me to get to the second site of grace. After defeating godrick and activating the greater rune I might be ready. Very cool place for what I've seen though.
@@RadTony I did it before godrick, I didn’t really go and kill that many enemies, was about SL 20-25 at the time. There’s this thing with lighting pillars sort of like the cartons keep in DS3 don’t know what it does yet
Honestly, Godricl is the best. He really pushes you. Even with my ashes summon And npc summon, I got obliterated over and over for mostly just not timing and not memorizing his attacks. Then one time I just ended up winning with the Jelly ash and getting his ai stuck towards the last quarter of his life. He was stuck on the edge to the front left corner and clipped halfway through, so he couldn't move, and my jelly literally kept him distracted while I jump attacked until I could get the stun move for the finish. I didn't even know about his shackle item until I won.
Nah fam it's subjective at the end of the day and this applies to most souls bosses, for instance i killed this boss my first try with using just one flask but the Margit boss took me like 40+ tries to beat, but then again i might be a special kind of dumb since i died more times to Pinwheel than i did the Orphan of Kos...
