Thanks for the review. I’m considering VKB but I’ve read the MCG Ultimate being metal is a bit much for the Gunfighter base even with the strongest springs when using the 200mm. May just go for the 100 as a compromise.
A metal grip with 200mm of extension is going to have a lot of leverage against any gimbal. I highly doubt it will break anything, but in terms of springs, there are two spring perches on each axis, I believe you can double up
@@doifeellucky I have a gunfighter ultimate with the 200mm extension and can confirm that by doubling up the springs it works perfectly fine. You just need to bolt it down firmly! The Ultimate grip actually isn't as heavy as you'd think. Much lighter than the warthog
@@wimwamjoey Thanks for the feedback. Yes I saw a video where someone weighs them all and the premium plastic models were all about 2-300g, the metal 5-600g and the warthog was over 1kg.
It's pretty straight forward, it's just like taking your grip off. There is an Allen wrench fastener you loosen on your stick, pull your stick off the base, then put the stick on the top of the extension in the same way it attached to the base. Then attach the extension to the base in the same way your stick attached to the base.
Have you ever tried refuelling with the gladiator nxt? If so is it much harder? I was considering getting the gladiator but really want to go down the extension route so feel like I should just get the gunfighter. Did you have to update your mount to accommodate the extra length? Thanks again.
Missed the last question. I have a long monstertech mount for the Gunfighter. The Foxx long mount or the monstertech long mount are my recommendations for mounts for extensions.
@@whoisthatthen I guess in it's defense it isn't really meant for the extension, it's built for side stick, but yeah, I suppose that could be a negative
I'm not sure if you need it, but did you have any trouble with the stick hitting your chair? I would have to cut my seat to make it work without having to reach too far.
@@FalconsLedge I have a playset aviator. So see how it goes. I have a NXT there at the moment so it won't make it much higher. On deployment so won't get to test till I get home hopefully in a few months
I fly dual stick in space Sims, I don't like the extension in that case as I prefer to fly dual stick with one on each side. Side stick is objectively better on ergonomics anyway.

There are 3D printed 100mm extensions for GNX, you'd need to extend your cable yourself. VKB does not recommend extending the GNX as it has a plastic gimbal. The extensions offered by VKB are for the Gunfighter.
I put my 200mm extension without replacing any spring but my stick (Mcg Ultimate) falls down (just the Y pitch axis - the X roll stays centered). What spring do I need to pick just to avoid the Y axis to fall and stay centered with the minimum effort? (I fly helis and jets and I like the stick very soft) Thank you.
@@racingtheweb I would recommend removing both and running #50 on both axis. If the axis are still loose, I would put a second spring on each axis (there is a second spring perch if you look carefully)
@@FalconsLedge Ok I will go for the #50 then on both axis. I must do it: with the falling stick I can barely fly helis not trimming them, but definitely I can't fly jets because in this condition the plane doesn't fly straight and it's impossible to engage the autopilot (the stick doesn't remain centered and it pitches up as soon I leave my hand).
