I have 5 midnight marvels that my father planted in some landscaping in the backyard buy didn't do very well so 3 years ago I took the planted and separated it into 5 pieces and they have done very well producing flowers now but the aren't really bushy like the ones you have there but they grow 7' to 10' feet tall now no exaggeration if I could send some pictures I would I have to tie them to tall shepherd hooks to keep them up but they have been beautiful ever year now and my mother and the rest of the family and friends are just amazed at how big the get now would love to replace a few in the front yard with some from your garden there 😀

I have a midnight marvel that i bought a year ago. when it came back up this year it stayed the same size as it was in the pot,when i bought it. Its only 12 inches tall. What am i doing wrong? I thought it was suppose to get big.

This is the best hardy hibiscus comparison video I've ever seen, even better than last year's video. 🌺 I absolutely loved the close up shots, the detailed observations of flower textures/ sizes, growth habits, and foliage shape/color. I purchased 3 candy crush hibiscus from you in June that look MAGNIFICENT, and now I may blow my savings on a few more varieties. 😂❤️ Thank you Heidi!!

Hi Heidi - thanks for the comparison video's - so informative. Have you or will you do a comparison on the Rose of Sharon's? I see the PW has a Purple Pillar and I was hoping to see something on how that grows both from a quart size all the way to full size (actually that would be great to see comparisons like that as well). Love your channel!
@gardencrossings
@gardencrossings Год назад
Rose Mallow are a little harder to do as they are not all planted together and I do not have mature specimens of all the colors in the trial garden. Purple Pillar when we plant it in a gallon in August starts off as a quart and byt the following summer that same gallon is about 3+ feet tall. So the pillars are a fairly quick grower.

I do love the hardy hibiscus. I enjoyed seeing the different sizes, colors, and the different flowers. I think I would like one of the puckering type flowers, but part of my love is the massive flowers. You can see them from so far away. Do they require a lot of water? I would love to put some along a back fence area that has no irrigation to see those bright blooms from a distance. I may have to try one just to see if it lives.
@gardencrossings

I would recommend watering every couple days depending on where you live and how hot you get. These typically like water.

Heidi you convinced me to add a hardy hibiscus to my garden! BUT I’m concerned about deer and do they have insect/ Japanese beetle issues?
@gardencrossings
@gardencrossings Год назад
This should not be a first go to for the deer. They are said to be deer resistant. Now the beetles on the other hand, a BIG issue. I spray mine every year to keep them nice.

Could you help me identify a hibiscus in a garden I volunteer at where I am trying to identify all the plants. The gardens are all 20+ years old. There are two hibiscus with pink flowers and they have been called Pink Clouds since…whenever; but, we just noticed that the two hibiscus’ flowers are not the same. The “different” one’s flowers are the color of pink, and the same size, but it’s petals do not overlap each other like the Pink Cloud’s do, and like practically every other hibiscus we have seen do. I have found a couple of photos of this hibiscus on the web and they all just call it “hibiscus species, various colors”. Can I get a more specific label than this? Than you.

Why bother filming a video when you can't identify so many of the plants? Very frustrating. You are a big operation, with many employees. How hard can it be to assign an employee responsibility for checking plant labels before you video? Or here is an idea, hire someone else to do your videos who will actually prepare.

It all sounds great BUT this is not my garden. And some of these plants I do know the names of and cant share as it is a trial garden. I think we did a pretty good job of naming most of them. We do videos off the cuff, we are not a production agency, just a small business trying to share the love of flowers.
