Very instructional and realistic video about budget guitars. I find they’re good, but sometimes need some work. You show what that is, and that it is relatively easy to do. And then you have a great guitar. Thanx man.
You struggling to remove the tight knobs made me smile. If you really had to be careful to not damage a finish (or not mash up the control knob) you probably know to work some cloth underneath the knob, wrap it, and pull up, this pulls the knob off square to the pot shaft painlessly. Great videos, very clear. Thanks.
That is one of my own favourite guitars @ home. Got the SC-550 (LP), TE-90 QM (Tele P90), TE-70 Black Paisley, HB J75Bass as well....all works just great. Shielding-job...yepp....but nothing more needed. Was lucky. Great videos! Kippis from Stockholm 🍻 Great playing and clips. 💪🤘👍
First of all congrats for this upload man. I have heard so many great things about harley benton guitars, but this video is for all these people that never plays this kind of cheap guitars. You set up well, and you have a good instrument. Maybe pots and pickups, tuners, etc, they aren't the best in the market. But as far as I saw, it holds tune in a normal way. And the most important thing: you play soo good my friend, that solo is soo tasty. Congrats again!!!! (and enjoy that wonderful guitar)
After making this video I found out that as I checked out my other strat pickguards, they too have the extra holes drilled like in the vid at 5 min mark. I really do not know what is the purpose of them, so I´m sorry for my ignorance... if anyone knows why the pickguards have these little holes next to the actual pot holes, please let me know.
I have the same guitar. It came perfectly set up out of the box. Not a single flaw. Unfortunately, after two months, one of the tuning posts started to come out, and fret buzz appeared at the 7th and 8th fret when bending strings. The guitar is still pretty much playable, and holds tune literally for days, but it sucks to have issues with a new guitar after only a couple of months. You get what you pay for, I guess.
A wooden instrument changes, so it would probably be time to check the neck relief and high frets. There are lots of videos on RU-vid, where it is shown how to do the basic setup work with no or very little special tools, this should not be too hard to fix.
@@milankotevski1663 Mine had issues too, but I managed to get rid of them with some setup work. At this price I think these are surprisingly good value for your money. And if the guitar is a lemon, you could return it.
@@milankotevski1663 I have much more expensive Fender guitars that also have that issues. It's normal, cause wood is changing over time. You should setup and inspect evrey guitar once for a while, even custom shop masterpieces.
The "vintage" staggered poles on the pick-ups are nonsense. They were designed this way to compensate for the thinner core of a wound G string and a much thicker plain B string which were the norm in the 50s to 60s (Strat's came with 13, 17, 28w, 34w, 46w, 55w). Using modern 9s or 10s on them creates a balance problem with a loud G and faint B strings no matter how the pick-ups are adjusted.
@@jukka9333 It depends on the strings you use. But yes, if you play light strings with a plain G, un-staggered is the better choice. In some pick-ups, the pole pieces can be pushed back down but those in the Roswell have different lengths and cannot move.
3:34 Put a cloth rag under the knob, wrap it around the knob, then pull straight up. It'll apply even pressure around the knob, and the knob will come off without scratching up the guitar with metal tools.
I really sounds like a Strat. The signal chain is ST-62, Presonus Audiobox iTwo interface, laptop, Bias FX 2 "Stevie Ray Vaughan" setup from someone...
Did you mean S7? I have no experience about Sire guitars, but looking at the specs, Sire seems to be a couple notches up in overall materials, alder body, locking tuners, bone nut ....and the price range is also totally different. HB looks more like a traditional Strat.
There is information like this: Stratocaster Pickup Height Bass side: 2mm Treble side: 1.6 mm I set them up by listening them of how they sound. The pickups themselves are different, depends on the pickup ohms etc... I would recommend that you set the height, then listen, and try different height and listen again...
@@jukka9333 You know, funny you should say that....as I listened to more of your vids, I was thinking the same thing... I have a few HB guitars but the HB Strat sound just didn't come to me like yours does...I do have Bias fx2...I think I'm gonna order one up thanks to you and your great tone and playing.. lol :)
@@ricknemrecords there are the community shared pedalboards in Tonecloud, this preset is named Stevie Ray Vaughn without the a in the surname, look it up.
