I really miss my shovelhead. One of the best "sounding" Harleys made. IMO. But the good that came from selling it was that I was able to build and restore my 49 Panhead . The bike no longer existed and took 5 years to collect the date code correct parts that were scattered all across the country. Has a few repops but mostly factory. Started with a set of matching number cases and grew from there. But I do miss that shovel idle.

Shovelheads are forever! Pans are pretty for keeping them in your living room as a decoration or a collector's item, but ain't worth a hoot for riding down the highway or long country roads, or even Bar hopping!......Old time biker here (61 years old) been riding for over 40 years never once owned a Pan, though twice had the opportunity. I also have a 2000 Electraglide for long distance riding which is what my old Shovelhead is. (Electraglide)

@@salvadorhernandez3404 I’m 57. Been riding motorcycles since I was about 11 or 12. I have a 2010 Softail for everyday riding and my dads getting older so I have his 2001 Electraglide now for long distance. I ride the Pan several times a year. It’s like traveling back in time. Really like seeing old timers eyes light up when they see it. Enjoy talking with them and hearing their stories.

Just got a 2017 sportster 48 from a dealer. Bike was on consignment for 8300 hundred. Has stage 1. Also has tank badges like yours. Are the badges from 1977? Or after market?

After research on HD tank badges I found out this badge was used only in 1947-1950!
