Very thorough and extensively detailed. Seriously appreciate your help with all of the detailed informational videos you post bro. Keep it up and I will keep recommending your content to everyone who is looking to get shit done by themselves without having to pay hundreds of dollars to someone else.
Fantastic video! I have never rebuilt a carb and I am trying to learn how. I am going to run this video in the background while I am working on my softail. Thank you for such a great step by step video!
One of the best “how to” videos I’ve ever watched! I am NOT a mechanic, but my inherited Harley went from running really poorly to running like it is in its prime again after your two carb videos! THANK YOU!!! My Dad would be proud (and shocked that I got it to work! Lol!) to see me having fixed up the bike!
I'll be tearing into one of these tomorrow and I'm so glad you made this video. I'm handy with some mikuni carbs as it is, but I didn't wanna go in blind.
You are among the Great Motorcycle repair Instructors. You are on par with Tatro Machine, Shane Conley and Bob La Rossa. Thank you for all the time you spend on us!!
Wow, can't believe I stumbled onto this video. I have a 2000 Fatboy. I'm actually looking forward to rebuilding the carb now. You did a fantastic job, very informative and even a bit entertaining.
This was tremendously helpful. Rebuilt it right the first time and my bike is running better than I have ever heard it run. Thank you so much for making this video!
Nice work! Love the extra tips for double checking your work as you go along. This video is excellent and I highly recommend you watch it all the way through!
avoid mistakes.. he never removed the idle speed screw or told how to do it and the float bowl pin can only be remove in one direction(push it out in the direction of the arrow) and...
Excellent Vid….my 2002 FLSTS enhancer/choke isn’t working (rpm’s aren’t rising) runs great after I warm it up (drawing the battery etc.) what do you think is the issue. Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer
Great Video unfortunately your carb did not have a spring, flat washer and small o-ring on low idle jet upon disassembly and when you assembled it back together...
Yea it started smoking after it was running for about the seconds or so. It was coming out of the front where the airflow is. So I shut it off right away.
Very hard for me to figure out what is happening without seeing what you described. I would pull the outer airbox cover off and start the bike again to see where exactly is the smoke coming from. If it is coming from the breather hose, you got the motor possibly overfilled with oil or if the bike was sitting for long time, oil might of slowly filled the engine from the oil tank and it might just throw the excess oil out and that's it... this happens a lot on older EVO Harley's... However the engine is sucking the fuel and anything directly in front of the carburetor inside it, so your smoke going out of the airbox could be non fuel or carburetor related...hope this helps
I believe you are talking about the air/fuel mixture screw...I start with 2 to 2.5 turns on stuck air filter and pipes...for loud pipes and less restrictive air filter 3 to 3.5 turns... after you set it up and ride the bike for at least 10 miles check the plugs for color...you don't want to see black or completely white plugs...hope this answered your question. Thanks for your interest in my video and please subscribe to help me out...wow...all the way in France...cool brother!
@@DoityourselfMotorcyclerepairs Thank you so much for the Answer It's clear for me Your explanation is perfect. Have a nice Time and Regards for you. JEAN-CLAUDE.
I removed the brass fitting from the accerlator pump wherethe gas comes out and it has a needle that is stuck no gas comes out how can i remove the check valve i cant take it and i tested itthe check valve is stuck i put carb cleaner and nothing and soaked it in sea foam and still stuck any ideas how to remove it
Great video. My float needle doesnt have that little spring part. It seems to be stuck out. Bike runs good. No issues. Should i replace it or leave it alone. Whats it do?
I would say if you don't have any problems don't take it apart just for that.... I would replace it in the future if you in the area working on your bike. Probably good idea to order the rebuild kit and just have it handy...thank you for your interest in my video and please subscribe it will help me out 😊
My CV Carburetor just starting leaking gas out onto the bike. I watched your video took it apart everything seemed OK, I cleaned and reassembled and gas ran out as soon as I opened the petcock.. Any recommendation would be grateful.
I would replace the float needle first... Also inspect the seat ( the hole ) where the needle sits. Another important thing is to inspect your fuel lines...they might be old and shedding particles or rubber from the inside also maybe add inline fuel filter to stop crap from coming in from the gas tank. Hope this helps and please subscribe to help me out
@@t1kki7 you also need to check the float level with the carb tilted 15 degrees then float should be 10.5 to 11.5 mm out of case, also a quick fix is shut off the fuel and ride till she runs out of gas then open the valve and rev her up, it can help dislodge anything stuck in the float vale needle
Hello I have a 2004 buell blast and I took the carburetor apart and cleaned It so I put it back together and after I put it back on and started the bike it started smoking from the carb do you have any idea what might be causing that
At 10:41 I like the bug crawling thru your parts. You should mention not to dip the rubber parts! Send me your corroded carb, I will fix it for you :-)
You are missing so much information, and procedures to get that cv carb running properly, you just threw parts together, that carb won't run right, you didn't even set the float hight for one example, people get your self a manual and do it correct, shade tree mechanic there.
