And then still reminding us he's Joker by screwing Gordon out of his job and dismantling the police, one of the obstacles he constantly had to face before.
@@sethvaldez4029 To be fair gotham's police department really wasnt doing much, they were filled with corruption and spent millions of dollars in city taxes on tanks and shit, that really could have been used somewhere else.
The fact that this came out of his mouth when he's tryna be a good step-dad is oddly ironic and unironic at the same time that I lost my shit laughing at this.
Honestly, I think one of his motives is to make sure his son doesn't see that. He's too young for murder, and the man is already gonna be signing him up for therapy after this.
@@RequiemPoete like you would at least expect that. It shows both that Joker genuinely loves his son and is also still a psycho killer at the same time
@@RavenEnfield A tall black dude try to kidnap my baby brother, like he actually sneak to the back of my house and grabbed my brother was playing in the back of the house, just pulled my bro out as my mom was sweeping the house and had the back door open. Once he started running out of my house my Mexican mom only quickly ran after him and only had a second to grabbed something. And she grabbed one of the machetes we had in the backyard. Despite being about 6’0 my 5’3 mom easily got up with him and was ready to slice him up and I guess the guy got so scared. Since besides the machete my mom was yelling in Spanish so the guy dropped my brother and ran away.
I love they did the opposite of the Killing Joke in this. Joker talking Gordon into keeping his sanity and putting him back on track rather than trying to derail him
Have to admit, taking one of the greatest super-villains of all time and making him a stay at home dad who loves his kids and partner and wants to become better for them is something I can surprisingly get behind. The fact he didn't hesitate to save his son and also his passive aggressive back and forths with Debbie are just fantastic.
My biggest issue with the show has been the base concept of “These characters would never do this.” However if they are gonna do this, they’d better be consistent, and we’ll they have. So I’ll give the show a thumbs up, they’ve come a long way from just “what if Harlequin was Gay?”
Sure none of this is canon, but I’m really enjoying how better a person they’ve made Joker. I would rather they kill him off like Freeze, than just contrive a sudden flip back for him.
I love how Joker even sees to it that the police department should be cleaned up because he knows more than anyone how useless they are in this series Lol
I really really hope they don't change this Joker back to who he used to be, it's genuinely the funniest and more refreshing portrayal I've seen in years. Yes, it obviously deviates from the source, but honestly that's a good thing
Not really. In the main canon of dc joker when he has kids he is actually a VERY good father to them. Its weird but it been done in many canon dc stories and in each he was a great dad...not to other kids but any kids he claims normally are pretty well cared for.
Of course. He's had personal experience with mental health and trauma. I guess what changed him was love partly but also when he got out of the acid, he was doing something good instead of bad which could've made the big difference.
Ooh I'm top commenting on that should be a joke he he I heard his campaign speech he got jeers tsst him n his stupid tanks wut the hell u clueless drunk ?
This is actually a good series. My main complaint when I first saw this series was that I thought they were going to make Joker an abusive jerk and not point out any of his better qualities, but it looks like they did their homework and tried to respect the character. I'm actually kind of impressed.
Someone crossing lines for him is what makes him happiest in life; not only would something completely uninvolved with him making people cross lines not make him happy, not only would preventing someone from crossing lines when they otherwise would be a decent consolation prize for him, but taking that away from someone else would be exactly what he would do to someone who pissed him off.
Hmm girl's an r.n she's better off working in the morgue part of the hospital by which she makes the dead bodies n we thought nurse wretched was terrible ah flew over the cuckoo's nest
Gordon - “It’ll be great working for you Mr. Mayor” Joker - “Oh no, my first order of mayor is dismantling the police force. You’re out of a job” That just killed me
I love how his wife is obviously on the same wavelength, but that actually helps bring out a gentler side of Joker. Perfect family for an iconic villain.
I realized this Joker is proof of Batman’s dream, Batman’s belief is that anyone can be redeemed and there are good people inside, Joker’s character arc shows this as he is a loving father who cares more for his family than power. It’s a nice subversion of the Dark Knight where Batman is the embodiment of Joker’s beliefs
@@sainttan to be fair he started this when his sanity returned to him and he forgot everything about being Joker. When he came back around to being Joker he still holds onto the love he had, he’s just got his violent and vengeful streak back
While the scene is definitely referencing killing joke with the whole demented roller coaster deal, considering that Barbara is still very much not paralyzed (and only been doing the Batgirl thing for like a year tops) I don't think he's done anything to her.
@@keithharrissuwignjo2460 I was thinking the same thing! Hopefully the joker ends up exactly like him where it’s proved it wasn’t an act and he really did change.
@@targetseeker you know what the crazy thing is? jokers psychosis is "super sanity" he KNOWS he exists in a comicbook universe, its why he says people outside of the main cast dont matter and why he has no problem killing, so he probbaly knows that what hes currently doing is driving people nuts and he probbaly fucking LOVES it
@@spiritretro3571 either way, someone will lose (those who want him to be dad joker and those who want him to reveal it was all a ruse) and that will still be a win for the Joker (become bad? typical joker. be redeemed? that it worked is too crazy that it's definitely something the Joker would do).
Joker has really proven himself to be a better person than I ever thought he would. Risking it all just to save his son and giving up his spot just to protect his family. Not a bad stepdad at all.
Makes sense, actually. The entire motivation of Joker running for office is to make live better for his family. Without that, he would have no reason to run.
i hope this is legit because there are some comments saying that it's probably a coverup for a grander scheme. i just want joker and his family to be happy and chill. it's the stupidest concept ever and yet i love it so much
Joker doesnt do plans this complex. It's not fun. The longest his plans run for is a few months of watching from afar and messing with people's minds by making them think he killed everyone they ever loved. Most of his plans are very quick to get to punchline.
He's meant to be a foil to Gordon and Batman, actually becoming happy while Batman and Gordon are forever miserable. Plus, they might be setting up for another "one bad day" for Joker, OR they're going to introduce the Batman who Laughs.
Honestly I love this incarnation. The guy is just living his life found love and forever happy. Even in this horrid state Gotham is in he found something to live for.
ngl, if Joker hadnt reminded Gordon about his moral compass and allowed to kill Two Face. I personally think Gordon will end up being Red Hood but worse than Jason Todd bec getting tired of cleaning up Gotham's mess, and him trying to be a good dad can break poor Jim's mind. Imagine the family fall out between him and Barbara
This scene is genius. It provides homage to The Killing Joke while being subtle and still coherent to the plot. The jokes, ironies and subverted expectations were clever and hilarious too
The fact Joker is a loving and committed family man in this series just makes me so happy. It’s just such a bizarre creative decision and I am SO here for it
Wow the f*cking Joker doesn't want to kill someone who crossed him, and stops two other people from doing it out of the kindness of his heart. MY WORLD DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE ANYMORE
Everyone's talking about Joker, no one is acknowledging how funny Gordon just one hundred percent trusting Two-Face only to be let down is. And it works, because he was two-faced before the injury and still friends with Gordon, so it makes sense for Gordon to never notice his two-faced nature. Because he never has.
It was funny, but what was funnier was Two Face, the villain most main series fans feel sorry for, turning out to be a worse villain than the Joker, the villain most main series fans see as the irredeemable worst villain of the lot.
I love the fact that even though Joker is still Joker, he genuinely cares about his family "Oh thank god! You're ok...physically. Mentally, this is...messed up." Best Joker Dad line so far XD
The way this series deals with the arc of the „side characters“ is amazing. I mean honestly, I don’t care much about Harley herself, but everything surrounding her is a chefs kiss 🤌🏻 from the depression circle of Nora, to the path of joker becoming the perfect villainous stepdad to the plot of commissioner Gordon suffer from every single bit you could imagine to him. Perfect!
@@kingsleywelch3360 Not only about the 'fun' is my issue of state. Its the path every other character runs through. Hell they made Catwoman and Batsy sing in a duet about their feelings, Bane as the most goth and isolated villain of them all is the most social one and the one who tries to be fair to be everyone - and two face beeing an actual politican/villan. As Kiteman puts it: HELL YEAH
Watching Joker walking away with how wife and step-son is something I never thought I’d find myself seeing or typing about I’m kinda proud of him to have come so far
@@totalcreativegaming6681 How would that work? Would punchline be Joker's April to his Ron Swanson? Would she be obsessively pushing Joker back into villany, or would she be (no pun intended) the comedic relief?
Maybe. Punchline could be an obsessive Joker Bro, like Duela Dent was in the newer comics, and she could start committing crimes in the Joker's name, forcing him to take action to stop her, making Joker an anti-hero and changing his character arc slightly.
Honestly, Joker taking Gordon out of his job was probably one of his best decisions. Gordon can get a job he's happy with and finally spend some much needed time with his daughter.
Huh, all it takes might just be "one really bad day" for someone to go over the edge but in here it also seems "one really good day" for you to start a redemption arc...
I absolutely love this so much. I love the idea that someone can be good'ish and batshit crazy. Batman series used to pretty heavily go "Villain = mental illness", and villains were "dark reflections" of Batman and Batman had to conquer his own fears and demons and show he's not like the villains, he has it together. And while that's ok, as sometimes it does take work to get better'ish, but some of us just are and will continue be somehow "out of the norm", that's just how it is, we're not gonna best our illnesses, we live with them. I ffffucking LOVE that Joker can be himself AND CHOOSE to be good. It's just really motivating in a weird way.
Shoutout to the writers and staff, cuz Benny didn’t lie. He called Joker ‘dad’ twice before the third one clicked. Also Beth getting ratchet with an actual ratchet * mwah * that visual pun is just _lovely_ . And she’s framed in the camera like she’s about to the same swings Joker did in “Death In the Family”. After just saving his OWN family… so there’s a bit of irony there when he stops her, and it’s funny, and it highlights his character arc. Like yo, unintentionally or not, this shit was layered beautifully like a cake. EDIT: Then there’s the fact that they reference that book _again_ during the award episode. And Joker’s doing the Jack Nicholson ticker tape parade, parade float and all from the Burton Batman movies. Just, UGH. I love Harley Quinn so damn much! This show is the gift that just keeps on giving!
So I know there are an infinite amount of Jokers in the DC universe, that’s what a multiverse is, and I don’t know which “Earth” this show takes place in…but it’s one of my favorites. This version of Joker is absolutely hilarious and is still insane but positions closer to Lawful Evil rather than Chaotic Evil and I love it.
I liked at the end where the joker was all like "oh good, your mother found us" and she was TWO seconds from straight up killing two-face and joker was just like "hold up, let's not do that thanks"
If the police is so weak to the point of not being able to take a clown with a gun or a smart guy who overdoses on roids, then i think the police is just a waste of tax payers money
You know I love this because in the context of this series, Joker is being something that his rivals have never been a stable normal family/relationship.
It's really nice to see Gordon have a heroic moment, going against Two Face and risking himself to save the Kid. Of course it still has a really hard time standing out next to the Joker being a more than decent Family Man
+Vincent Beton I like that moment, because it shows that as screwy and messed up as this show portrays Gordon, it still shows that he's a good man at his core, and that he'd never let a child be a pawn in a plan like this. Even more than that, he stopped hanging on to what shreds of his friendship with Harvey that he thought were left and accepted, once and for all, that he (Harvey) had fully given in to being Two-Face and was pretty much pure evil, and thus not worth saving (hence why he was about to kill him). Very good moments for Gordon in this scene.
I think she's a first responder. Those ambulance worker nurses/doctors that rush through during emergencies. Cause she met joker while being the first people at the factory explosion thing
I gotta give Two-Face some credit. He’s the only villain besides Harley and Ivy who is brave enough to try and kill the Joker. The other villains that we’ve seen in this show like Bane, Penguin and Scarecrow have barely been able to even talk back to him.
Gotta give Two-face credit though, it takes some serious balls to kidnap someone the Joker cares about. Like I can imagine easier and gentler ways to commit suicide.
@@mas8705 he cared about the cat and mouse game he and Batsy had. He enjoyed the thrill of the chase like a lion and antelope. Yes Harley was his "romantic" interest everyone knows he never truly loved her. And in one version of an animated Batman show (dark like this one, and def not for kids) he killed someone for unmasking Batman (was it this one?)
@@ShovelMarshy Well if I recall in season 1, Scarecrow unmasked Batman in front of Joker which royally pissed him off so he doused Scarecrow with Acid from his flower lapel.
"But killing him won't solve the problem. It'll just make things worse. That's not what you do. You're COMMISIONER GORDON, remember? You make things better." Dang, that was a Batman-worthy declaration. And honestly, remaking the GCPD is a good thing.
This makes me happy because this is really what joker wanted before being pushed into ooze and turned into a megalomaniac in the first place. The difference between the first, second, and third time being thrown in REALLY makes a difference on what kind of man he’s going to become. Second time he’s somewhat normal again with a fresh and good start, gets thrown in again with the same people still alive in his life, and it changes him from a complete psycho path to a…. Little bit psychopath. One that puts all of his power that he used for himself and putting it towards his family.
Amazing that even as a troubled person, the Joker at least got what he wanted from the start, having a family, as it was the first thing he lost in the killing joke.
I loved Joker as a villain in this show. He was just so insane and egotistical and it worked really well. I don't really like when the villains are redeemed and then seen as a good guy. But if a guy like Joker can be an amazing dad and an amazing villain, then that's how you can tell the show has some good writers.
