Hello Mike, It always amazes me to see someone tear something apart and then put it back together. You did a great job. 💕NonnaGrace

Just a tip. Next time get a long pipe that sits on inside ring of the bearing and hammer it in. Or put the old bearing over it upside down and use that for a surface to hammer on

Like adjusting standard wheel bearings and applying preload and then removing, I've taken the same approach to head bearings in the past and it appears to work just as well as it does for wheel bearings.

Seems to work well for me. Usually within specs or close to it.

That was a job! But needed Im sure. Timken bearings are good bearings but I'd have replaced them too. Once it's apart no need to put the old back. I need to learn to work with gloves. I should own stock in GoJo lol! Great job as always!

Thanks. Yes, I figured since the bike was completely apart I should replace them. Last thing I want is 6 months down the road I have to rip it all apart again cause I saved 50 bucks. lol. Gloves are great to use. No oil and grease on skin but to be honest I use a lot of them and it can get expensive.

Thanks for the Video! I literally have had to do the same things as you to get the bearing off and the cups out of the steering neck. I have the same model and I it looks like you have a large washer between the upper dust shield and the adjuster. I don't see this in the micro phish.

I think that's called a bearing cup. Shows it on the microfiche for the frame item #22. Hope the video was helpful and thanks for watching.

Makes sense doing 'em at this time. Is that race puller a HD tool?..I guess cutting the lower is the easiest way too. Just checked your links in description, bearings, races & tool all available on Amazon. 😂👍 Have you been over to the new Battleship HD?
@TechnMoto
@TechnMoto 2 года назад
Battleship HD? Where or what is that? It doesn’t matter where you get the parts. Shop around for prices. You’ll be amazed how prices fluctuate. At times the dealership oem parts have been the better deal. As far as the tool goes it’s an aftermarket steering bearing install tool. Same as HD tool just cheaper at the time. Get back to me on the first two questions when you have time. Thanks

Hi I hear a clunk from my 12 SG when hit bumps .. Any ideas that could be the cause?

I would check the bearings both in the steering and rear swing arm, wheel bearings, rims, shocks.
