In my opinion, i think an Evo with drag pipes is best sounding. I remember when the twinkie came out. Not many liked the sound. Now that they have the M8, the twinkie sounds good. M8 has that scissor gear, sounds close to a Honda. This is just my opinion. Sound is subjective and personal taste.
Fun fact the drum intro for the song Hot for Teacher by Van Halen was a copy of the old shovelhead sound. No cycle will ever match a Harley Davidson in the sound. Live to ride ride to live. To all you bikers out there stay safe.
I grew up with a lot of these. Depending on the Carb, tuning, cam and pipes makes a big difference. Shovelheads are great. Panheads are great. You left out the good old 1000 ironhead sportster though. Probably the best sounding engine ever from idle to full throttle. Cool video though.
I like cruisers but can't figure out what's up with the UNBEARABLY LOW idle speeds.... It makes it sound so weak. It really gives me the the impression of an engine that barely runs
Yeah, that's been bothering me ever since I've started paying attention to motorcycles. Granted, I'm no engineer, but those low idles just don't sound right.
I currently own a pan, genny shovel, s&s evo, and a m8, the shovel or evo are by far the best motors I've ever owned. M8 is the worst to date. I'm eventually going to cave and buy a sporty evo 1200 and make it my daily. 😑
If your a harley rider u wouldn't make that comment evo moters were nothing but a pain in.the.ass..as soon as a.m.f was gone they started improving agiin and yes I own 1
Cast heads and cylinders are bulletproof only the japs have it perfe Ted no one else my harley.is.grate It's old stuborn and runs well maintainance is a 100 percent .must with me
Evolution motor sounds the best and is the most reliable engine HD has ever made. The evolution sporster motor is probably more reliable than the big twin evo motor of those two.
I'm watching the comments and I'm shocked to find out that the one that I liked the least (shovel head) is the one the others like the most! ...I really do like the flathead the most... sorry guys.
@@hdpiciu7362 i take it that you mean Big Twin. Anything 1000 cc and up is considered a big twin and a 1200 is still a big twin. And your comment is still irrelevant as the video is incorrect about the time frame of the evo.
The intro of the engine sound before they showed and sound of the 1903 single cylinder was I believe a V-Twin board track racer that was running on alcohol.
Shovel and Evo! My first Harley when I was in highschool was an 83 fxr with a S and S Emodel and an Andrews cam boy did it sound sweet!!! Now I'm an old man and ride a M8 that sounds like a BMW!!! LOL
Pitiful sounds of inefficient engines starving for air and not very well balanced at all....I've always said that Harley engines sound like irrigation pump engines, or as one fellow said....sounds like a water buffalo farting under water. I've owned 4 of them
They all sound like something is about to fail ! News for you Harley fans The Germans redesigned the engine It didn’t sound like a Harley No one liked it ! I hate the sound of them !
